Hi everyone :)

I took some pictures yesterday after I washed my hair. Have I typed myself correctly? The pictures where my hair is dry is after I have been running errands all day so my curls aren't really showing up as well :( since I haven't used any product besides shampoo and conditioner.

This is my hair wet, sorta..it's already started to dry. It's at BSL only when wet.

Drying and shrinking starting to occur.

Fully dry and after a busy day, curls have loosened, bla!

If these pictures are too big or there is too many, please let me know.

I'm feeling really "bla" about my hair, it's at this point where I can't stand it anymore and get a cut... I can't decide if layers are for me or not.

Does my hair look as damaged and awful as I think?

Thanks for looking and for any advice/comments. :crush:

I think your hair looks pretty :). And trust me, your hair isn't anywhere near as damaged as mine. (lesson 1: flatirons are NOT your friend :() But I think if you put a little bit of product in it and continue to take care of it, you'll have long beautiful curls in no time!

Thank-you heaps. I've done some naughty things with a straightener myself, ah! I'm a product junkie but recently gone through all their ingredients and they all seem to have alcohol, cones or sulfates in them.

I love your curls! You may want to try CO (conditioner-only) washing--that's what made my curls stand out, and I didn't even know I had any!

Thanks :) I am actually thinking about doing CO regularly as I've tried it once or twice in the past and loved it. There is just so many things to experiment with! :D

I think your hair looks beautiful!
Thank-you :o

You have beautiful curls!:) And I don't think you should cut it. Institute the 2 week rule.
Whenever I get the urge to cut because I'm frusterated with it, I think and overthink the pros and cons of cutting to not cutting (which lasts less then 2 weeks because I am a chronic overthinker) that finally I say "who am I kidding, I'm not going to cut my hair."
One thing that helps too is looking at the beautiful pics of other long hairs on LHC, that's a good motivator!:)

Don't cut! I think your hair looks nice and doesn't look that damaged to me! From those photos, it looks to me like maybe your canopy is curlier than your underneath layers, so the difference between the length of the layers in accentuated when the top is curlier (shorter) and the under layers stays straighter. I think maybe using a gel to enhance your curls to help them hold (and release less during the day if that's something you want) and scrunching/plopping to help the underlayer stay curlier would make your hair look a little thicker. You have beautiful shine, though, and lovely color and you are BSL, which is a milestone many of us here are still waiting to achieve! Don't be too hard on yourself! :blossom:

Thank you very much for your advice. I'm not going back to my hairdresser, if I do decide to trim a tiny bit I'll use Feye's method. :) Oh I know.....there is so much beautiful and amazing hair here!

Thank you for everything you said, I appreciate your explanation as I have noticed some hairs are much straighter than others. :flower:

Your hair look healthy, shiny and very beautiful.
I don't think that this layers that you are talking about, look so bad on your hair, because your hair are curly and layers make curls to be more obvious.

You have very beautiful hair in a medium length. I believe that it would look richer and thicker if they grow longer, but be careful, this will not going to happen if you start cutting your hair.

So I would advice you to keep on taking good care of your hair, make only micro trimmings ( don't cut your length) and be patient because this is the only way to have long hair.

Your hair are very beautiful in any case. :)

In my opinion, your hair looks neither damaged, nor awful!

I paid good money in the 80s to try to get layers and curls like that (perms, ugh!).

Your hair is so beautiful. I love the color, the curl, everything. If you don't like the layers, wait a while, and trim them off one by one, rather than the big chop. It might make them look thicker, if that is where your frustration lies. If I were you, I'd leave it. I love the shine... everything. It is going to be SO gorgeous as it gets longer.

As everybody said your hair is pretty.I don't see any damages too and I'd love to have such beautiful long hair myself, like Natalia I'm jelous of your hair :D.
By taking care of it well you don't need cut at all, maybe trims only.
Good Luck and take care of your lovely hair.

Your curls are gorgeous! :flower: I think you're definitely at least 3a. If you're not wanting to sacrifice length, you can always maintain where you are with mini-trims until your layers grow out. There are a lot of people on this forum doing exactly that, so you'd have a lot of support! :)

Here are some helpful threads others have started about layers.

Good luck with whatever you choose, and thanks for sharing your photos with us! And welcome to LHC if I haven't already said that. :D
