This hair loss is really starting to stress me out and I am contemplating buying either Morrocco Method(all 4 shampoos) or Ovation Cell Therapy.

I do care about both of these improving the length of my hair but the main motive is to regrow hair. So, if anyone of you have tried these products or either one of these please tell me your experiences with them. Please address the age old question, "does it really work?".

A little history : I am 19 and suffering with hair loss. I mean I have started to see patches which are getting bigger. Yes, I have been to a doctor and currently taking iron supplements for my anemia. I am trying to keep my diet in control. I have had 2 chemical treatments which may have even set off the hair loss.

Hello!
I am sorry to hear about your hair problems, and I would like to offer my opinion about MM.

I am currently using the Morocco Method line exclusively, and have been doing so for a little over a month. I sought out this line because I was worried about the amount of shed and repairing damage in my hair. I bought the healthy hair package starter deal that is available, which lets you try all 4 shampoos, the 2 conditioner mists, the normal conditioner, the zen detox hair mask, organic oil blend, natural styling gel/leave in treatment and they give you a free scalp massager.

So if you have looked into this line, I'm sure you've already heard about the adjustment period your hair might take to 'detox' as they call it, and this really is the case. My hair is almost fully adjusted to the shampoo's and such, and I am really loving them for my hair. Since using them, I have gotten comments about the visible improvement in the health of my hair. So it is not just wishful thinking on my part.
I do not even need to use conditioner anymore, which has never been the case for me. The shampoo's are extremely nourishing. I haven't been using them long enough to really see alot of regrowth, but I notice a lot fewer hairs being shed.
I also feel like my weak hairline, at the temples, is starting to get longer hair. But it will take more time to see if this is true or not.

I'm sorry I can't offer much on the regrowth, but I will attest for its ability to nourish and repair hair. I really enjoy this line.

I purchased the Zen Detox clay and the Chi concentrated hair conditioner and I love both of them! I also bought them for hair loss issues (which have not been helped by doctors). I haven't used them exclusively but I alternative between several different shampoos and conditioners. I DO Have to say though, the clay mask is a lot of fun to put in! It leaves a wonderful tingling sensation on my scalp AND I've noticed it completely eliminates the scalp itch I have for days afterwards.

Hello! Well i habet tried either line but i wanted to offer my hugs and sympathy. I just turned 20 a little while ago and have been experiancing masive shedding for a few months that just keeps getting worse :(. My mom had this after her hysterectomy which put her into menopause but were so YOUNG for this much hair trouble! I know it can happen at any age for tons of reason but i wanted you to know your not alone. Im about to start an MSM supplement to see if it helps. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you <3

If I can say this, the package that Leisje bought is now on sale at 25% off. I started out with the 4 shampoos and Chi conditioner. When I saw the sale, I purchased the starter kit also. I am a 55 year old male with male pattern baldness, so I don't have much of a chance of hair regrowth, but what hair I have left is in better condition than ever in my life. I am not so sure about Ovation Cell Therapy, but Morrocco Method is totally natural. I am trying to get away from manufactured chemical products.

I've used MM for ages-- best stuff for hair ever! You can see and feel the difference right away, at least I did. It didn't do much for my hair loss, but it helped keep my hair feeling :D

I'm not familiar with MM, but just wanted to chime in and say that I've had hair loss problems on and off throughout my life, most recently really getting to me.

I've used Nioxin for a few months with really astounding results - I saw new growth within weeks and now have baby hairs all over my head and my hair was really shiny with it. I'm now having second thoughts (I have a thread asking about the ingredients) because Nioxin contains SLS, parabens, and 'cones - and I'm looking to go a more natural route. But just wanted to put out there that the Nioxin did help me to grow back new hair.

I've also seen a difference with using folic acid, biotin, and garlic (reduces shedding) and I just started taking MSM as well.

Also, if you are interested in Ovation Cell Therapy I believe they have the same formulation sold for horses or dogs (Mega Tek) for a lot cheaper than you'll pay for the OCT. Might want to check into that. I've not bought it yet, but will get the Mega Tek in a week or two when I get to the States.

I used Morrocco Method about 5 years ago and loved it but he had to change the formula of the shampoo (couldn't get something organic any more) and the new formula didn't work in my hard water so I stopped using it. In the mean time, I solved the hard water problem and recently had a bad experience with another product which caused scalp sores. The only product I knew was pure and that I trusted on my poor scalp was Morrocco Method so I ordered some more (just the shampoo). This time it worked very well and cleared up my scalp immediately.

I can't say whether it helps with regrowth since I don't have hair loss but it certainly reduces shedding to a minimum. I adore the scent of the Earth one and use that the most. Right now I'm just alternating it with other stuff since it is so expensive and I don't really need it.

s_tresses, I'm very sorry to hear of hair loss, especially in someone as young as you. I hope you find your solution. :grouphug:

You might try diluting them and putting a small amount in a squirt bottle, they take a little getting used to but are well worth it. G'luck!

Hi s_tresses,
Any reviews on the Morocco Method shampoos??
How are they working for you?
I'm also suffering for hairloss, but mine is due to insufficient nutrients over my teen yrs.
Hoping MM can help.

Sorry to hear about your hair loss problems. I've never tried MM so no word of advice there for you. Just stick to that diet, and your doc's advice, and if you feel you need a second opinion, don't hesitate to get one.

Hope you do better soon!

I recently purchased all 4 shampoos and the crystal mist. I've tried two shampoos so far, and liked them both. I am going to test their ph and see how it compares to the CV bars. (One of the reasons I wanted to try MM was to find a lower ph hair washing product, in hopes of preserving my buxus-brown hair color.)

I received my Chi Instant Hair Conditioner, Sea Essence Shampoo and Diamond Crystal Mist today!

Just washed and conditioned my hair. . .waiting to see how it dries.

I think I used WAY too much of shampoo and conditioner. It doesn't foam up much and it doesn't feel like you're getting enough on to actually coat all the hairs but once I rinsed and conditioned, my hair felt super clean and conditioned. Although, actually, I am not all that sure I rinsed it out well enough. This IS going to take some getting used too!

My hair likes a lot of moisture, so we shall see, what we shall see, after my hair starts to dry.

I am hoping it won't be TOO funky and frizzy but if so, I'll spray with the mist. Otherwise, I'll use the mist as needed, between shampoos.

And I've ordered the other shampoos. . .and the oil and the detox as well, even though I am so totally NOT loving the woo woo component of the line.

My husband thinks I am in training for the hair olympics, what with all the vitamins and shampoos and oils. roflolol

Well, I would really really really like to reach my hair length goals. Gonna give it my best go. *snark*

Will update as I know more.

The secret is to NOT rush to the mailbox. . .no matter what you hope is in there! This tricks the mail into being delivered quicker. You must try this! lol

My Report:

I got sleepy and had to go to bed before it dried but I woke up this mornning and my hair does look GREAT!

My hair is fluffy without being frizzy and it's very curly. . .lots of spirals. I've lost the doll hair shine. I think just a bit of oil would bring the shine right back up to where I like it.

I did mist my hair a few times lightly. . .had to try out the Diamond Mist. It's not heavy at all. This morning I am seeing loads of baby hairs curling out from my head but it's not frizz! So I think I'll really like the Mist.

The fragrance of the products is a little odd. It smells good but more earthy and natural. NOT floral or fruity.

And one other thing I noticed, my hair seems to have retained a bit more moisture than usual. I woke up this morning with still slightly damp hair! This surprised me because I sleep underneath a ceiling fan and just tossed all my hair over my shoulder, to the side of my pillow. I do this often and this is the first time I've still had slightly damp hair.

I'll work on using a lot less of the products and rinsing a bit longer but for a first go, I would say this went really well! I can't wait to try out the other shampoos! :cheese:

I've tried all 4 of the shampoos and for my fine, fly-away hair the Sea Essence was the most moisturizing of the lot. I am starting to dilute these shampoos in water at a 1:4 ratio and they are easier to spread that way (without using a ton of shampoo). So far it seems to work just as well.

I kept my hair up in a bun all day but it felt more and more heavy and gummed up as the day went on. . .rather dull and lifeless. My hair fork didn't budge all day either. It usually slips around at least a little bit. When I got home, I took my hair down which usually feels great but it just hung there and felt icky. Not dry and tangley exactly but close.

AND my scalp feels itchy.

I applied my Bramhi Amla oil to my scalp and over the length and ends to hold me over until tomorrow, when I'll have to shampoo again, far earlier than normal. I usually go around 3 days between shampoos.

I'll try to dilute the shampoo way way way down and spend extra time rinsing. That should help. Of course, it could just be the adjustment period.

Will keep at it and let you know if this is a winner or a loser for me. If anyone is interested, I mean. Not everyone finds these hair stories interesting, I realize that! lolol

Do any of these actually work for oily hair that doesn't need any moisturizing? I've been very tempted but decided it's probably too "natural" for me. I wonder if they'd feel like Indian herbs.

Hello!
Its fairly early to tell you anything about the regrowth. I do notice some baby hairs growing along the hairline but I cannot credit this wholly to the shampoos because I have been doing castor oil treatments and massages regularly with the MM use. I plan on adding massages with EO's to my routine.

I would still recommend them to you because I believe that going all "natural" would be good for your hair and scalp anyway.

I did not order the conditioner but I did get a trial size and the day I used it, my hair was much better since I have dry hair.

I read somewhere that the Apple Cider Shampoo would help with the dandruff but the opposite happens with me. That particular shampoo makes it worse. Sea Essence and Earth Essence are my favorite.

Another improvement I notice is with the oiliness of my hair. I used to have hard sebum which would not move down to the length of my hair and make my scalp very greasy so I would have to wash rather frequently. Now, I can go DAYSSS without washing if it werent for my dandruff.

Washing Day 2:

I haven't received my other shampoos, so I am still using the Sea Essence.

I used just the tiniest bit, a quarter-sized amount, determined to follow instructions. That amount barely covers even 1/4th of the top of my head but I just went with it. lolol

Rinsed an extra long time.

Then used a TINY amount of conditioner, sort of rubbed it around and rinsed it out.

Fluffed it up with my fingers. About twenty minutes later, I brushed it. . .and there was not one single tangle.
My hair dried much nicer this second time. . . big and fluffy but not a lot of curls. The bottom half of my hair was kinda of stringy, relatively. That's the part that had the conditioner on it, so I am thinking that I really might not need the conditioner or need very much. This is really surprising because my hair is DRY!

My hair still feels a little off but I think it's the transition.

I can't wait to try the other shampoos that I have on the way.

Day 3:

Washed my hair again today with the Sea Essence. . .results are even better.

My hair is still a little dull. . .but mostly shiny. I am finding some nasty tangles on the very ends though, once my hair is dry.

My hair was fluffy and felt lighter but still a little coated and gummy feeling. . .just the tiniest bit. My curls are quite flattened, waves only.

I was reading that the Diamond Crystal Mist makes an excellent deodorant. . .so I am trying that out. Will post results.

And did I mention that I purchased the MM brush and a rubber scalp messager? Haven't received them yet, so hope they're worth the cost. They were expensive for me but not that expensive compared to Mason Pearson. Will let you know if I like them.

Lol thats ok, it made me smile :D. And good information you little enabler you :p! I will take a good loock at them next time im at the healthfood store. When you dilute and suirt it in does it do ok geting out oil without having to scrub? I dont want to taumatize my poor shedding roots anymore than i have to.

As for me i havent lost any more chunks thank god but i also havent really comed it either. Ive only given it one good comb since the incident :( and alot came up but luckily fairly dispersed. Since then ive been keeping it wraped up in a loose cinnabun on top of my head or a loose braid for sleeping.

The health hasnt been so great sadly :(. The supplements from the nutritionist/accupuncturist were really helping and i felt better than i have since thankgiving chirstmas time! Ok its still not great but could walk to thr restroom instead of crawl :p i take improvment where i can get it :D. But the last two days have been hellish about food and lungs. I cant even eat cantaloupe/tomatos/or soy anymore. With my other intolerances that doesnt leave much. After many hours of vomiting yesterday and today i am finishing out today on liquids only and maybe a very very small plain salad no lemon even :(.

My period still hasnt come  which is fustrating becasue i think it might be whats screwing me up. I really wanted to get the worst over by monday becasue we have people coming to work on the house and i have to be here and conscious.

Ok wow im done hijacking now. Sorry :o

Thanks Natalia. It’s nice to know I’m not alone :D

So, I tried my MM (Sea Essence and Diamond Crystal Mist ) last night and I have to admit that I was pretty skeptical about this stuff but so far I’m pretty impressed.

I had oiled my hair the morning before washing. Not a heavy oiling but it was enough to make my hair look a bit greasy and unwashed (hehe I am sooo glamorous). Two washes with the Sea Essence removed the oil just fine. The smell is much stronger than I thought it would be but it didn’t hang around once my hair was dry. After washing I combed my hair through, which was easy enough as my hair sits just above my shoulders and is pretty fine so I could comb it without snagging on tangles (I think someone with longer or thicker hair may have had trouble) and then sprayed liberally with the Diamond Crystal Mist, combed again and left my hair to air dry. The results when dry were pretty good. Considering that no conditioner had come anywhere near my hair and that I colour treat (and often heat treat) it dried with no frizz at all (I always get frizz – even with cone laden products) and while my hair didn't feel like silk or anything, it had a decent amount of body, dried into lovely waves, which almost never happens and while I wouldn’t say that my hair was shining it did have a bit of luster to it. My lengths and ends did feel a bit dry so I had to apply a bit if coconut oil, but that didn’t affect the waves at all.

Ultimately, while I did like how my hair looked (I that these products would work brilliantly for someone who doesn’t intend to keep on chemically colouring and heat treating their hair and had a mountain of money to burn) I think I will need more moisture for my hair and I don’t think that I will be buying larger sizes as I just couldn’t justify the price when other commercial products are vastly more cost effective and do a decent job. If MM wasn’t so expensive I would seriously consider buying the line and overcoming the dryness aspect with oil treatments so it’s just a pity that once again, something that’s a good, natural product that actually works, has been priced way, way out of the average person’s budget.

That said, I may just get my Sherlock Holmes hat on and see if I can dig up a comprehensive ingredient list for the Sea Essence and see if I can have a go at whipping up something similar at home that would be cheaper so if anyone has any clues – please send them my way :D

I received my box of shampoos yesterday!

Last night I tried the Pine Shale. My hair is all funky feeling this morning but is shiny.

It's seriously going to take some time to get used to these.

I've GOT to take a container of some sort into the shower with me. I'll need to squirt the shampoo into the container and add water, mix it up and then pour it on.

My hair is way too long and thick to just hand apply this stuff. You're suppose to use such a small amount. . .that just isn't working for me.

And the key to making this stuff anywhere near cost effective is going to be using less and shampooing less often. . .so far, this has been a no go. lolol

It's taking all my power not to wuss out and shampoo with a gigantic handful of my Tres Semme cheapy shampoo just so that my hair feels normal. When my hair is out of whack it makes me feel all out of whack too. lol

I am really enjoying the process. . .so fun to try new things but so far, I am not loving the way my hair looks or feels. They say that it takes time to adjust, so I'll hang in there.

More later.

I gave it a go but am not finding that this is an excellent deodorant.

It does kinda work and I love the misting application. . .but it wears off unexpectedly. lol

I am thinking that it works as a oil based barrier but the misting is so light that it isn't effective for a whole day. I like my crystal deodorant better.

Another MM user chiming in!

My nutritionist recommended that I give this line a try after I went to her for help with my alopecia. I have to say I've been impressed. I haven't noticed any hair regrowth BUT my scalp does seem more balanced. Not as itchy and irritated. Also I've only been using the products for a few weeks.

I love the shampoos. They are so gentle and moisturizing. I think my favorites are the ACV and Pine Shale. I'm actually almost out of shampoo and crossing my fingers that they will go on sale soon because they are pretty pricey. Then again I don't want to switch to another shampoo so I may just cave and buy them :) who knows.

I've tried the conditioner, and while it's good... it's just not for me. I need something with more slip so I can detangle in the shower. But my hair seems fine after i use it.

I've also tried the zen detox (love it), the oil (love it) and the mist conditioner (meh). I don't really 'get' the mist conditioner, but I'm someone who usually puts lots of oils and cremes in my hair so maybe thats why. oh- I've also tried the gel. They sent me a sample with one of my orders. I hate the smell but it actually works pretty well for me!

So interesting to read your experiences with these products!

Tonight I tried the Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo.

I had the same problem as before with the other shampoos: the amount they suggest doesn't do a thing, so I tried doubling the quantity. . .still not much.

Then I doubled the amount they suggested into a small Tupperware container, added water and mixed well. I poured it around my scalp strategically and finally felt that I was getting somewhere!

And this time I didn't use any conditioner at all.

My hair feels GREAT! So very soft and clean. If anything, it might have left my scalp and hair a little bit on the dry side but still, it's an improvement over the last tries. I think I'll message in a bit of the Euro Organic Oil and call it a day. lolol

Also, I got my MM brush and scalp messager. . . they're both really nice and I do like them!

I can see that these shampoos really do need to be alternated to get the intended effect.

I am glad I didn't cave in and go back to my regular shampoo. . .I think it's starting to work!

So interesting to read your experiences with these products!

Tonight I tried the Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo.

I had the same problem as before with the other shampoos: the amount they suggest doesn't do a thing, so I tried doubling the quantity. . .still not much.

Let me say that after a few more days of using this product, I am decidedly less impressed than I was before. I've noted down one or two observations from my personal experience...

I've noticed a definite increase in shed and breakage when I use this product, no matter how gentle I am when washing and styling (i.e.: washing and then gently running a comb through once and allowing to air dry)
it feels like there is a kind of waxy coating on my hair now and I suspect that I’m going to need to clarify in the near future
I have not seen a repeat show of the lovely body and waves that I got from my first use. Further use of MM has left my hair feeling slightly coarse, dry, weighted and unmanageable.
My scalp has been a bit itchy since I started using this stuff. I also wondered…

If possibly the majority of the increased shed and breakage was caused by the fact the product has no 'slip' to it and is therefore harder than conventional products to distribute gently no matter how careful you are?
If some of the benefits that some people see with this product are because the shampoo is difficult to spread without using an entire bottle and therefore a ‘scalp only' wash is achieved almost by default, ensuring that lengths retain natural oils for longer? I'll keep using these products for a while to see if things improve but I'm not going to hold my breath about acheiving impressive results and I will not repurchase.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this while using the products, or is it just me?

Hmmmm.... personally for me, all shampoos are scalp wash shampoos. Also, with my squirt bottle, I never lather, only press. I've never used this shampoo without a conditioner (or any for that matter) so I can't help but wonder if a conditioner would help. As for the scalp, I wonder if your scalp is readjusting, or if it just doesn't work for you :p

Using this with a regular conditioner is going to be my next step before I give up on it totally :). I have been using the Diamond Crystal mist after washing but it's just not enough moisture for me so I’m going to try using it to supplement a regular conditioner instead of replacing one. Will see how I go with that. I really like the concept of the shampoo and the system but I just don’t think it's going to be effective (cost and otherwise) enough for me to justify using the system long term (unless I see some sort of massive growth spurt – which would justify almost any expense in the world *lol* :D)

My hair has been responding really well to just plain old co-washing so I think I'll continue to phase out shampoo entirely from now on as it's just not a necessary step for me except as a part of a clarifying wash once a fortnight or so.

Sounds like it's doing exactly what it says will happen!

You do have to alternate the shampoos and they say you can expect a nasty transition period as your hair "detoxifies". . .about a week (seven washing sessions)

Try putting the amount of shampoo you need for that session in a container and adding some water, mixing it up and then applying it.

Also I am super gentle about messaging it around. . .it feels WEIRD because there is foam and it doesn't feel like you have any shampoo on your hair. Your hair doesn't feel like it's getting clean.

Rinse super super well. . .I rinse an extra long time.

I do not apply any conditioner.

I do not comb. I fluff up the hair on my scalp by messaging but otherwise just let it dry.

I've noticed very little shedding.

So I would say, stick with it for a while longer. . .sounds like you're just in that transition period.

Today I tried two things!

The Zen Detox Hair & Scalp Therapy. . .ur, dirt.

I have to say I had such a wonderful time with it. Basically you mix up clay and apply it to your scalp and hair, let sit and rinse. It's a lovely blue green clay mix and my cats had an absolute ball watching me mix it up and apply it.

I've just rinsed it out and have shampooed with today's alternative: Sea Essence. I mixed up double the amount they suggest, in a container, added water and shampooed normally.

It felt different really different this time. . like it was actually penetrating. Other times, it's been hard to get through to loosen up my hair. Think I might be getting rid of all the cones and oil coatings? Anyway, it didn't foam up but was the next best thing to it.

I've rinsed and am waiting for it to air dry.
No finger combing. . .just a bit of messaging my hair to loosen it up and get it to wave nicely.

More later. . .but I can say that every day that I've used this, the feeling and the results are different. I can't wait to get through the detox transition! And to see what this stuff really will do or not do! lol

P.S. I am LOVING my MM boar bristle brush. . .it's so soft and feels very gentle on my hair Today, my husband, who has gorgeous, sleek shoulder blade length hair, tried it and he loves it too. I'd better order him one before mine sneaks off. lol

I haven't noticed that the Diamond Mist spray does much of anything. . .nice, I suppose for a little moisturizer during the day.

Have you tried the Chi Instant Hair Conditioner? I have super dry hair that soaks up moisturizer too, but I've noticed that as I lose the cones in my hair, it needs less moisture. I like this conditioner a lot but don't seem to need it everytime.

I am trying to go without using it, just to see how the shampoos perform but do intend to up the conditioner use, once I know how much I really need.

But also, I am using their Euro oil. . .and REALLY do like it. I just use a little to message around on my scalp. I might use a tiny bit on the ends.

Adding one more thought, I've also been dramatically increasing the oils I take internally. I've added flax oil, Kalonji oil and take the evening primrose. I think those are also really helping my hair's dryness.

Hope you find a good routine that you like!

I do think this is possible. I noticed slightly more shed when I was trying to use this shampoo without diluting it. Now I dilute it quite a bit in water, massage very gently (scalp only...I use cone-free condish from ears down), and the shedding is not noticeable anymore.

I didn't want to pay the price for the Detox but I bought a less expensive clay mix with volcanic ash in it....it sounded similar so maybe I'll play with some of that on my head today.

I regularly use these MM products: the Volumizing mist, Euro Organic oil and Blood of the Dragon Styling gel . I love them-been using them for years.
I've been looking for all natural styling products and I rotate between those and Aubrey Organics B-5 design gel.

As far as the shampoos and conditioners, they are hard to get used to and I admit I haven't used them long enough to form an opinion.
The first time I tried them I used the Cider vinegar shampoo and the chi conditioner.
That day I got two(2) hair compliments! And believe me, I NEVER get hair compliments in IRL. A lady at my church said my waves looked so nice-did I have a perm? I said "no it's-natural waves". Some one else complimented that day, as well.
But with continued use after a few days I had the same problems as detailed in a post above- not enough slip-my hair was coated and tangley, couldn't get a comb through, heard snapping:blueeek: alot of products make my hair tangley, though, I need slip- so it may not be MM's fault. On his site he does mention that this will happen because your hair is detoxing, but I have to have my slip fix -my hair is fine and fragile that I don't want any breakage. But I might try them again.

Right now I'm rotating Nioxin, jessicurl and Aubreys conditioners.

Just thinking aloud here, I think the airy fairy "detox" is probably just removing whatever residual products are left on your hair. Hence the yucky feel. And oh man, kitties watching, I bet they were having a ball:D

As for hair breakage, what I do before EVERY wash is use oil, even just a teeeency bit. It might protect your hair from shampoo, as any shampoo, no matter how good, will be slightly damaging. Just a thought.

Yes, I think that's right. I love the euro organic oil, and try to do an overnight treatment with it before every shampoo day. It's good stuff and my dh uses it all the time, too. I really like the spray mists, too. They are good at detangling for me.

Has anyone tried the MM henna? I have been wanting to henna, but I want to use a good pre-mixed henna- thought about trying the MM light brown. Is it finely sifted?
Good quality?. I think for a newbie like me maybe a pre-mixed one would be easier to start with-but I want good quality henna.

I haven't tried the hennas, but from what I know about henna, I'd skip it. Anything other than red has other ingredients, such as indigo in darker colors, which can be very permanent, and cannot be bleached out. Henna for hair isn't as good of quality as body art quality henna. I'd say skip it and go for the good stuff :D

Uh, MM hennas have a very good repuation. They aren't just plain henna, they do use other ingredients like indigo, buxus, and amla.....just like many people use here. He just takes the guesswork out of the colors and makes a mix (just like you can buy pre-mixes from hennaforhair.com now).

You can get a safe (PPD free) brown from MM.

Oh no I know a lot of people use those other ingredients, myself included ;) . But I've looked at their site, and they don't list the ingredients, and I think people should know what they're putting on their hair. If they work great, then great :)

I just noticed a world of difference in the dye content/quality with henna meant for body art, but people should do what works for them :cheese:

I, and my two cats, enjoyed the Zen Detox clay treatment very much. And just so you know it is on sale at MM website for about $20. I used about half the jar, per their recommendations but I could have gone with just 1/4 I think. You only use this occassionally.

One thing I am wondering: why does it take so long to "detox"? Couldn't this process be speeded up with ACV rinse or something? lol I know everybody's hair is different, but sheesh, are cones and such that hard to get out of your hair?

So far, my hair is still to dry feeling. . .not so dry as hay but slightly crinkly. It is not moisturized and curly like it could and should be. I can't wait for this to go away. I'll add a bit of conditioner next time.

The good thing, though, is that while I am waiting for my hair to adjust, at least it looks good in updos. lol

Edited to add: I am REALLY noticing less shedding. . .a lot less shedding. Could be related to the new vitamin regieme too though.

about the MM henna, it bugs me that they won't admit that there are other ingredients in their henna mixes. Their website says that it is 100% henna and no other ingredients. THey say that they get the different colors by using different portions of the henna plant (roots, stems, leaves, etc). People on the MM web forum had written in question the ingredients and Mr Morocco will not budge from the "100% henna" answer. So he either doesn't know/understand the product that is being formulated for his company, or its less-than-full-disclosure. Me no-likey.

Canarygirl: Yes, this irritates me tremendously. They are so arrogant with their airy fairy philosophy and horrible customer service. I'd be willing to bet that their hennas are safe, but it's total :bs: that it's just henna. I bet a lab test could easily prove them wrong. They also don't disclose the ingredients to their elixers, hence my hesitation to try. It seems really stupid on their part, because it's a liability-- not disclosing ingredients is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

If they didn't make such amazing products, I'm sure they'd be out of business FAST.

I wouldn't buy the MM henna without full disclosure of all ingredients, were I to have health issues or allergies. It is irksome. I agree.

I am really loving their products though.

The Euro oil is pretty great. I like it second best but in combo with my favorite oil, Tattva's Herbs Brahmi Amla.

The Euro oil is colorless and feels quite light weight but still moisturizing. I apply just a few drops to my hands and message my scalp, lightly draw my hands down the length. I apply a drop or two more to the ends. I like to do this right before I braid it for sleeping.

I like to use the Brahmi Amla oil for heavy oilings on Saturday or Sunday. I message it in and bun my hair up for the whole day, leave it on overnight, then shampoo the next day.

I've noticed that since the cones and whatever else gunky is being removed, my hair can really soak up the oil! I feel like the cones really were blocking moisture. Last night I added castor oil to my ends and they didn't, even for a second, look or feel oiled! I use the castor oil on my eyelashes too, to condition, just so you know. It doesn't make your eyes burn at all if a little seeps in under the lashes.

The shampoos' effects are still changing each time, but they have so far left my hair and scalp on the dry side. But today was my best day yet. I had wurls and curls. I've noticed that my hair is only the TINIEST bit tangly on the very ends and that's when I haven't combed or brushed my hair. I've also noticed that my hair does get drier as the day goes on. But I am in Colorado and it's VERY VERY dry here.

So tomorrow, I'll try using the mist in the morning, bun up and then mist once or twice during the day to see if that does anything. Trying to hold out until the next wash. . .which will hopefully even be better!

More latah.

Hey gals~

Since shampoo bars don't seem to be doing a whole lot, I've really been contemplating trying out MM... It sounds too good to be true! However, I don't want to spend 129+ dollars on the package, only to find out my hair doesn't like or care for it much ((Which, sadly, would not surprise me. My hair is impossible.)), so instead I'd have to go with the Healthy Hair package, which has 2 oz samples of everything. Problem is, considering how hard I hear the stuff is to lather and some have to use much more than the recommended amount... how the heck is a measly 2 oz bottle going to last long enough for me to see a difference?

I'm really not sure what to do... I want to try it, but is 2 oz going to be enough?

Oh jeez don't get the whole package :p

If you use very little, diluting them in a squirt bottle, I think the sample package should be enough. What I do is get the sea and fire shampoos, that way I alternate, and they last me a long time. I had spectacular results, as have others, but for some people they just don't work. They may take adjusting (for me they didn't though, oddly enough). Let us know what you do :)

Ahh thanks for your quick response, Hennaphile!

How much product and water do you mix into the squirt bottle? As for alternating, it's okay to only use two, or is using all four usually crucial/good for yielding better results? I'm sure I'll like the Sea Essence since I have rather dry hair, but I'm not sure which of the other three I should use if I only get two

Well rotating all four is ideal, I find I do just fine with those two ;), and the sea is my favorite as my squiggly hair tends to be on the dry side. I just use a squirt, maybe a half an ounce. I still use conditioner after, but find I don't need a heavy one. It has a VERY different feel to it, just to warn you ahead of time. I like the scent, and I always get compliments after using the sea essence and have a slight fragrance leftover. But it's like mud that foams only slightly, so a squirt bottle for me is an essential tool to distribute it. I don't really buy into all their hippie new age stuff, just their products. I think of it as enchanted dirt :p

Hope this helps :D

One last question xD Have you been suing the Chi conditioner at all? I've been curious as to whether or not it's any good, especially for fine dry hair. I've been having really good success with the MM. My hair LOVES moisture and hates protein. My one complaint, to date, is that my hair still feels too dry, especially the ends. I am alternating all four shampoos and using the Chi conditioner each time. I've also tried the oils and the spray conditioners. . .all really good. You can use these to offset the dryness.

I almost totally love this system but while my hair looks great and is super shiney, it is still too dry. My hair is in really good condition, no real damage so I am not sure why the ends have a drier, different texture than the rest of my hair. If I add oil, the ends just feel crunchy, not more moisturized.

Tonight, I broke down and went back to Nature's Gate Aloe Vera and Sunsilk TLC conditoner. I'll see if my hair feels softer and moister or not. Maybe I am remembering my hair being softer than it was. lol

It's drying right now, so will let you know.

P.S. My hair seems to do really well with or without cones. My only real issue is dryness. Sooo, I am I think I might try the MM shampoos with the Sunsilk conditioner and see what that does.

I've used the chi conditioner and I like it. It's not super moisterizing, but it will condition your hair and make it look nice. Often I pair a different conditioner with MM. They are about the most natural brand you'll find, and there aren't that many out there I would deem truly natural. :)

Hennaphile, I regularly oil both my scalp and my hair. And it does help a lot. But the ends are still too dry. . .crunchy and kind of stiff. Not so bad as hay but stiff and brittle feeling.

Think I will try a more moisturizing conditioner with the shampoos and see what happens.

Yay for silk but phooey for oil :( . Maybe try a different oil? Apologies if you already know this, but coconut, EVOO, and avocado will penetrate the shaft, so they might help. But gosh, that's really unfortunate. I found AO's camellia oil condish to almost make my hair oily it's so moisterizing, as is the honeysuckle rose, but less oily. :cheese:

I've used coconut oil but my ends get crunchy. Works great for me though if I use it as a pre-conditioner.

I've used camilla oil and that's a good one, very light.

I've used jojoba and like that one too but don't love it.

I LOVE Tattva's Herbs, Bramhi Amla oil and castor oil is a great one for me, actually. It seems to really soak in and not leave my hair crunchy.

The MM Euro Oranic Oil ought to work great for me. . .it has really good ingredients.

I haven't tried AO. . .are the condioners you mentioned cone free?

Hmmm. . .maybe I am shampooing too much, since I am not getting a good sudsy foam up with MM. And am stripping what little moisture I have right out. I'll try to cut back the amount of shampoo I am using, pre-oil the ends in particular and leave out the Chi condioner and try one of the AO conditioners or the Sunsilk TLC conditioner (with cones) . .to see what happens.

Report to follow. lol

Report to follow. lol

OO ooo I have a suggestion *raises hand.*
Once again, apologies if I've already said this :flower:

MM doesn't really foam , i find diluting it and pressing works, because it won't bubble. It says to do it twice, I do it once, and use a small squirt, about a quarter size. None of AO's have cones, they are a very very natural brand. Those two also don't have proteins, so they're great for frequent usage. I also like the GBP, but it has protein so I would only use it every few days. Organic Excellence also has a very moisterizing conditioner. The nature;s gate ones never worked too well for me, but I loved their scents :cloud9:

You never have to apologize to me! I love hearing what you think! It does not hurt to repeat what ought to be obvious but sometimes isn't or might have been forgotten. roflol

Even though I do dilute it mightily, I wash my hair like THREE times, with more shampoo than is probably needed, my scalp just doesn't feel clean. I just need to get over that! I think I am too used to overly harsh shampoos and then making up for it with cones. . .thinking this is what it feels like to have clean hair. I am glad to know that using a smaller amount, less frequently works!

So I'll pre-oil the ends, try to shampoo once with less shampoo, keep going with the oils and if that doesn't work, I'll try going to a cone free conditioner.

Thanks again!

Of course :D :flower:

You know it took me a liiiitle getting used to, I wash everyday, so going from a suds bucket to dirt took a little getting used to, and at first didn't feel clean because I was used to the bubbles, but after awhile it felt much cleaner, so long as I used my magical distributing squeeze bottle ( I should name it...) and then it felt cleaner :) . I like using a lighter conditioner, that way I keep the volume that MM shampoos give, but regardless, My scalp is much happier with them. I've had a couple of other shampoos I liked (there was this amber rose one that isn't made anymore :( ), huashka's didn't dry out my hair but didn't do anything for it either, and the mehandi bars work very very well for me, but MM> everything else, for me. I emailed them about the ingredients in the elixers, and they said that for security purposes they can't disclose them :P

See, their quality offsets their customer service. :P

Well, the products are unique from other hair care products. . .guess they just don't want anyone copying their formulas.

Same thing for beer and lots of other special products!

I am not highly allergic or sensitive to anything much so it doesn't worry me but I can see how it could be a major issue for some other people, who do need to know.

I just ordered a couple of bottles of Audrey Organic shampoos to try. The Honeysuckle Rose and the White Camilla. At the AudreyOrganics.com website they have a special. Buy two shampoos and get a conditioner free. For some reason, I got two condioners free, when I bought the two shampoos. It will be fun to try them. I've heard such good things about AO.

This ios just about the only place I've found that does a basic list of what can be found in Morocco Method products

I really am quite tempted to get my hands on as many of these ingredients as I can (cheaply) find and have a go at making my own shampoo :D

Not that this should come as a surprise to anyone, but I went ahead and ordered the healthy hair starter package yesterday! As well as a full-sized bottle of the chi conditioner since it was on sale. I figured, hey, if my hair likes it then I have a big stock that I got for 5 bucks less. If it doesn't (Which is likely) then I still have a health-boosting conditioner to smear onto it, whether it likes it or not :p

And now... I wait. -x-Glares at the mail box.-x- Hurryyy...!

Oh jeez, did I go and kill the thread already?

Anyway, my stuff arrived yesterday! SQUEEEE!! You can bet I spent a good 10 minutes carefully observing and sniffing all the strange new products. I find the Blood of the Dragon styling gel particularily pleasing to the senses and now keep it at my desk for whenever I get a random sniffing urge. It almost makes me wish I had short hair so I could actually use it :p

Despite my excitement, I think I'm going to wait until I finish my Babassu marshmallow shampoo bar to try it. Also I'm wondering, since this stuff is supposed to detox your hair, would using coney products during MM be a bad idea? I'm wonderng if it'l just be an endless cycle of cones and then nasty detox/adjusting period.

Lastly, how do you guys use the Chi conditioner? Do you dilute a handful of it and just smoosh it onto your scalp and hair?

My samples took FOREVER to arrive in Canada, by which time I had already happily settled into a routine with AO HR conditioner and the Calaguala Fern shampoo, followed by KBB leave in and some camellia oil on day two.

But your post has inspired me. Maybe I'll bust out the samples and try them, and then we can commiserate together about how crappy our hair looks. :p

The one thing I did try was the styling gel. I was hoping to use it as a leave in, but it just didn’t work very well. You’re right that it seems to be for people with very short hair.

I've stopped using my MM and have switched back to regular co-washing and have just discovered the glories of Emu Oil (My Holy Grail hair oil!!) and my hair has been wonderful, I guesss it just prefers regular commercial products.

My results with MM didn't improve after the second wash and I just cannot justify the expense. I'm going to use up my sample bottle and not re-order.

Simone_Rodrigue: Teehee, yes! :D I have no doubts my hair is probably going to be quite horrendous whenever I start! So glad I could inspire someone! And I wonder why yours took so long to get there? Mine took about two weeks, which is long but pretty normal. I always wanted to try AO conditioners, I hear so many good things about them... I think of the Chi conditioner doesn't do it for me, I may give that a shot!

Yeah, the styling gel is definitely for those who have to style short hair... Though I may start using it on my ends when I clip my hair up, so that the locks that stick out don't just splay around in an ugly fashion and actually hang down a little! Anything to get that awesome citrusy smell into my hair :p Let's wish each other luck for whenever we start the samples, though! Here's hoping they have positive results.

Shadow: Sorry to hear MM wasn't for you, but congrats on finding your holy grail oil! I'm still trying to find a 'holy grail' product, but so far nothing has ever been all that extraordinary for my picky hair!

I know dryness has been an issue with MM users. I, also started using Suave Tropical Coconut(cones?) on my length but its been feeling very dry and matted lately.

Oh and the dandruff and itching is out of control! Is anyone else experiencing this? How about build-up from MM?

No, not at all. Are you saying that you've had dandruff + itching as a result of using MM (and not before)? Hmmm...that's not right.

I'm not sure about build-up because I don't use MM exclusively, but I can attest to dry hair after using either the Earth Essence or the Pine Shale shampoo. No problems with the Sea Essence or Fire Essence shampoos.

Okay, that's it, I'm starting my exclusively-MM journey TODAY. What ever I've been doing wrong with my hair these days, has just been leaving it a mess. I've been shedding like crazy (and have definitely lost some volume/pony circumference due to it... though I haven't actually checked yet, my low pigtails I wear every day are thinner) and my hair just looks so GANKY all the freakin' time! I'll wash with a poo bar, ACV rinse, condition, and it'l look fine for a day but the next it'l be gross and lank and just horrendous-looking, as if I hadn't washed it in days. It liked poo bars for a while but I guess It's just finally gotten sick of them and needs something new

So, I think I'll start with the Zen Detox treatment... I really want to WASH my hair today due to the aforementioned gankiness, but I'll resist and go for the detox process first, since it'l likely make it easier to adjust to the shampoos in the long run if my hair's already been 'cleansed of it's sins' so to speak

Alright! Time to summarize my experience so far. In one word, I'd call it excellent!

I started with the Zen Detox, which left my hair kinda coated-feeling and ugly, but I expected that. Then I started the process of using the shampoos, a different one each day, and with a squirt bottle. It was very odd and difficult at first but I now have a working system and I do get some decent lather! :p I usually just wash my scalp and the top of my hair with the shampoos then CO my length with a coneless conditioner. I'm not a COer but my hair doesn't seem to mind it much at all.

I absolutely LOVE the smell of the Fire Essence shampoo and it is definitely my favorite, followed by Sea Essence. Air and Earth are alright and don't dry out my hair, but the scents aren't as good. I find Earth lathers the best, though.

The Diamond Crystal Mist conditioner I am also fond of. It may not really condition my hair all that much, but as I wear my hair up/tied back 99% of the time, its a great product for protection! I never used to put leave-ins of any kind in my hair which probably would have saved it some damage, so now I almost always spray/load up my hair with the DCM conditioner to keep it protected in the heat and sun here. As I have no real need for the volumizer spray, I tend to use that one for daily protection more and save the DCM for a sort of 'treat'. The blood of the dragon styling gel I have only used once, but I find it's a good way to keep my ends hanging rather than splaying out in an ugly fashion when I clip up my hair; I just wet the ends and slather them in the gel, and they stay down as if I had straight hair :) Haven't tried the Euro Organic oil yet, but so far i'm finding a use for all of the stuff I got! That scalp massager is awesome, too

All in all, I am loving these products. I still shed a lot, but its decreased some (Could be due to me upping my daily dosage of garlic sups though) and my virgin roots seem a bit healthier and I can see some of the natural gold tints in my blond roots again! I have since gone back to order a bottle of Feng Shea facial Scrub and a pocket-sized boar bristle brush, since both were on sale. I'm spending a fortune!

Since I plan on sticking to their products for a while yet, and my samples will eventually run out, I now have to decide whether I want to A) Order full-sized bottles of just my two fav shampoos (Fire and Sea) and a full-sized bottle of DCM conditioner, or B) Order all four shampoos full-sized and another sample bottle of DCM. I can't decide which would be better... though I know which would be easier on my pocket  Decisions, decisions...

Even though I murdered this poor thread, I still feel the need to do updates! I can't tell you guys how much I'm loving these products. :p

I just went and made another order, now that I figured out what I wanted. It was still painfully expensive, but I bought the Fire, Sea and Earth essence shampoos. I felt that rotating three rather than two would be even better, and as Earth is supposed to help thicken hair, well... I HAD to include that one. Air was okay but I really can't get used to the smell and its for people with thinning hair. I may shed a lot but I'm not suffering from hair loss YET  So that one got voted off.

I also bought another bottle of Chi conditioner since its on sale again and my hair seems to really like it. I have no real need for slip so as long as it conditions and makes my hair feel healthy, we're good to go.

Lastly, got myself a full-sized bottle of the DCM spray-on condish, like I planned to. Can't stand to go out into the sun without hair-protection now that I've gotten into the routine of it! I may try misting with my own recipes, too...

Anyway, just wanted to update again... this thread has become my own public blog LOL! Oh and if any of you guys are considering buying one of their brushes, DO IT! I am in love with my pocket blonde boar bristle brush. Makes my hair so soft and smooth after a brushing  The Feng Shea facial scrub is nice too, though I haven't been using it long enough to really say whether or not it does much.

I am having a problem with shedding also. Do you think that it has helped with your shedding?

Thanks!

I don't actually know what kind of water I have but I don't think you'd have a problem, the shampoos are so light and aren't like shampoo bars/soap at all. I'd suggest taking a few extra minutes to rinse though, just in case.

As for my shedding, it may be too early to tell. I shed a lot naturally, but I do think its lessened some; you just have to be really careful while using the shampoo. Its easy to get carried away and try to scrub, but pressing/massaging is enough to make it foam a little if you dilute it :)

If you're serious about trying it, there's always the healthy hair starter package, which is what I got. If you want to go cheaper and don't want too many samples that you may not like, take a look at their four shampoos and pick two or three of them at sample size to try.

Good luck and let us(or just me LOL) know what you decide to do! :p

So long as you aren't using any coney or otherwise synthetic products as well I don't think you'll have much of an issue 'adjusting'. Then again, I was a conehead and used other synthetic products yet had absolutely no issue starting the MM shampoos, beyond having a brief gunky feeling after using the Zen Detox, so I guess it varies

If you've got problems with ACV then do NOT use the Fire Essence shampoo... ACV is the second ingredient so there's lots of it. I know one other, I think the Earth Essence, had ACV too... heck, they might all have it, but its very very far down on the list. If your scalp is okay with let's say... one or two teaspoons of ACV diluted in 6 oz of water, I think you should be okay :) I've never had any sensitivity issues with ACV (or anything for that matter) so I can't help too much with that beyond guessing that there's very little in the other 3 shampoos.

I love it! It's gritty and weird, just like all of their other things, but for me it works WONDERS. My hair just dried after using the Sea Essence and Chi, and... daaannnnnnnng:cheese:

The funny thing is, even though I go through obscene amounts of conditioner (I can go through a bottle of Trader Joe's Nourish in a week!), I don't have to use as much of this stuff. For some reason I can get it all through my hair. Mind you, my hair is extremely thin, no thicker than a pencil for about 75% of the length, so that may account for it. And yet it takes 5X as much of any other type to make my hair happy.

Go figure.

I had an MM moment that I just had to share :thudpile:

Well, I started using the chi again, and it's working unbelievably well. It gets better and better throughout the day. So. Here is my moment :cheese:

I was combing my hair (which had become 10x softer than it ever is naturally) and noticed that it looked too good to be true. Now you've probably heard my whining in every thread that I've had severe hairloss. Back in the day my hair looked EXACTLY like Princess Leia, now most of it is no thicker than a pencil in circumference, and about 2/3 of the length is see through :shake:

But.

I looked in the mirror. It was like a fairy came and sprinkled dust. My hair looked thick, and full, hardly any see through, and it had this glow (not super shiny, but voluminous and shimmery) and it started to like like it used to, but even better! It actually started looking like Leia!! I wound up staring at it for faaar too long, but holy moly, *hair moment.* I hope that my hair grows back, because if it does, I'll be a very happy camper :cheer:

Oh Hennaphile, I've seen your posts and mentions of hairloss but I had no idea it was really that bad :( I'm so sorry to hear that.

BUT, congratulations on your hair moment! Maybe Chi Conditioner will become your miracle product :) I myself have found that after I use it, my hair tends to be feel so... 'normal' for a couple days afterwards! No more major dryness, or dull colors... its relatively shiny, soft, and has the texture of what I remember my virgin hair feeling like! Or at least the closest I've gotten so far :D I'll see about trying to use less, maybe there's an easier way to smear it around evenly.

Keep letting us all know how its working for you, these kinds of positive posts make me super giddy! Long live Chi Conditioner!

Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here, but I just thought that this was the site that influenced me to try MM. I quit taking the birth control pill and my hair had shed so much that I lost a 1/4 inch in circumfrence after 3 months.

In an effort to save my hair loss, I stumbled upon the MM. I just got the healthy hair package in the mail last week (took forever to get to Canada!) and started off with the Zen Detox.

I've only used 2 shampoos so far and already noticed a BIG reduction in shedding. I do NOT like the chi conditioner, it made my hair ends seem really coarse and straw like, but the Crystal Mist I like.

It is a bit weird to wash with, but my roots always seem so airy and full of volume after I wash. Currently from my ears down it feels a bit coated and I'm not sure if its from the mist or I'm in that weird detox stage, but it looks fine. It just feels weird.

At the moment, my scalp feels good. I have used a SLS free 'poo for about a year and although my scalp didn't itch as much as one with SLS, it now feels amazing. I also suffer from an oily scalp and scalp pimples, so I"m hoping the MM will help.

Anyways, just wanted to through in my 2 cents. Nice to meet eveyone. :poot:

I'm sorry to hear that snoopy. My 2 best friends have this as well and while one likes to use Nioxin, the other really just uses whats on sale, and is more concerned about her greys as opposed to hair loss.

Right now my hair is in that weird transition; it looks fine, but it just feels different, almost waxy. I'm only on the 3rd shampoo though.

Will keep you updated though.

Not everyone finds these hair stories interesting, I realize that! lolol

Isn't the base of your Amla oil mineral oil? If so, do you think that is healthy to use?

You can make your own Amla oil by infusing Amla powder into melted coconut oil.

ok, so I"ve been using this line exclusivley for the past 30+ days and I still have stringy hair. I can now go almost 2 days without washing, but the lack of conditioner is taking a toll on my hair; I'm either noticing splits now that were there before, but were masked by silicones OR I'm getting splits now because its next to impossible to brush my FINE hair...

My hair looks good, dont get me wrong, but why is it that my hair still doesnt feel 'clean' after using this for a bit more than a month?

I can now go almost 2 days without washing, but the lack of conditioner is taking a toll on my hair; I'm either noticing splits now that were there before, but were masked by silicones OR I'm getting splits now because its next to impossible to brush my FINE hair...

My hair looks good, dont get me wrong, but why is it that my hair still doesnt feel 'clean' after using this for a bit more than a month?I'm surprised you stuck with it for for 30 days. You say your hair is stringy, you are seeing more splits and your hair is impossible to brush. If it was me, I'd find something else.

They do make a conditioner. I just use a different conditioner with their products though :)

I have the chi conditioner and HATE it. It makes my hair so tangled and straw like. The crystal mist isn't bad, but I find when I use that on my ends, thats when it goes all stringy like. My scalp loves the stuff, just my length doesn't.

I tried conditioning with Sauve coconut conditioner the other day. It definatly helped with the tangles situation.

How long was your detox? My scalp loves the stuff (I get nasty pimples on my scalp from sls 'poos and greasies).

I'm still using it because so far its the only shampoo that my scalp doesn't flare up with using. Everytime I use a 'sls' free shampoo, I still get pimples and itchies. Not with this line, so for a bit of relief, its kind of worth it. I"m just wondering if it will ALWAYS be like this......

Hennaphile, do you wash your hair daily with this line? As much as my scalp feels good while using this, I still feel greasy using it, even after almost 1.5 months of using consitantly. The canopy of my hair looks fantastic, but if I were to do a half up pony, it looks stringy and greasy still.

I haven't been lately because they don't sell it here and I can't even imagine the shipping cost, but yes, I used to wash daily with it. They reccomend shampooing twice, I found that I didn't need to, but that may be what you need to do :)

Okay, so, I came upon this product known as the 'Morocco Method' which claims to be fully organic and wild-crafted, and I thought I might give it a shot in the near future, but they don't really label all the ingredients precisely. Has anyone else heard of this product? Have you tried it?

Yep, and I liked it a lot. To find the ingredients, go to ebay and find some for sale--often they will list the ingredients. The bottles have the ingredients too :). I'm not sure how helpful that is; the ingredients are pretty strange. They have fabulous customer service, and ship super fast. I like their Marigold Henna, and it's the only product I currently use, though I did like their shampoos and their Chi conditioner. I generally had to use a commercial conditioner with them too, which is one reason I switched. I understand that they've really improved their conditioners?

Anyone currently using them who can update?

Hello,

This is my first day here and I'm desperately needed feedback on Morrocco Method products. After researching on organic shampoo, I came across MM and starting to use the 4 shampoos, Earth, Water, Air and Fire. I rotated the shampoo everyday when I have my shampoo. I understand that when using MM, my hair will go through a detoxification process and the hair will start to shed. My first week which was 3 week ago was a tough one because my hair shedding like crazy. I would say between 50 - 150 strands a day? First week of using MM, my hair was feeling dirty and oily but later in my second week and third, the hair started to feel clean but it still clump up together. This is my 4th week of using MM and my hair still shedding. I noticed that some day it sheds less and some day it sheds more. I took pictures of my shedding hair and I will post it here when I get a chance or you can go to http://gonatural.spaces.live.com/ to see my pictures. I really appreciated anyone out there that can share MM experience with me. I really need a lot of support while using MM but I am thinking that if my hair continuing to shed at this amount of hairs then I may need to stop using it at the end of this week because I don't think I have enough hairs to spare for long term shedding. I have super fine hair and easily to break. Although I'm experiencing hair shedding with MM, I do notice the new baby hair growth around my hairline. Thank you all for reading this and hopefully someone will respond with similar experience.....

Hello,

I am newbie here and I start using MM about 3 weeks ago. This is my 4th week of using MM. I did extensive research online about MM and so far it seems to be a good product. The downside is the detoxification process. Because I have super fine, thin hair, I don't know if I have enough hair to go through the detox in a long run. I will break down what I found about this product and what it did to my hair so far.

- First week of using MM shampoo, I rotated the 4 shampoos each time I'm shampooing my hair and also using Chi condition afterward. I did dilute the shampoo in small bottle that I can squirt it each time I'm using so the shampoo evenly spread out on my hair and scalp.
After I dried my hair, the hair felt really greasy and dirty and my hair shedding between 30-100 strands but I continued using it second day, it felt a little bit cleaner but still not completely clean. 3rd day seemed to be a bit better but my hair is clumping up together after it dried and it got oily by the mid day and of course my hair still shedding about the same amount. 4th and 5th day seemed to be better, my hair starting to feel less grease but I have another problem. I felt very itchy on my scalp around the neckline area and it felt like I have small pimple on my scalp which I think I do have few of them before I'm using MM. I don't know if MM kinda tried to detox and remove that built up in that area and that may be the reason why my scalp in that area is so itchy. So, to sum it up, first week was brutal for me, I've never seen that much hair coming out of my head before even though I always have hair loss problem but it slowly losing, not losing that much in one shower.

- Second week of using MM, I was still rotating between 4 shampoos but I found that the Sea and the Earth are best for my hair/scalp. My hair still losing about the same amount everyday from previous week so I tried to help out my scalp by using Euro oil at night. I was gently massaging my scalp with Euro oil and left it overnight. Then I wash it off in the morning, surprisingly, the MM shampoo did a good job in cleaning it. I didn't feel grease left behind. I noticed that I was losing less hair in shower. Before I start using MM, I lose about 10-20 hairs in one shampoo so the amount of hair loss after using MM during detox period still a lot. By the end of 2nd week, my hair starting to feel soft and although I did notice dryness at the end of my hair, I trimmed my hair just enough to get rid of the dryness at the end. I did see the difference after trimming my hair. I still faithfully using MM as long as I can see some improvement each week. So, I survived 2nd week so far....

- Third week of using MM, my hair still going through detox period and although my scalp felt good but from time to time, it got itchy again on scalp around neckline area where those feel pimples at but after I rub a tiny bit of Euro oil on those area, it did help to relieve itchiness in that area. I can see a bit improvement in texture of my hair. I also start taking multivitamin and some supplement for hair/nail/skin called Biosil. I can see improvement on my nail that it got stronger and not breaking so easily but maybe still too early to see any improvement on my hair. I think I have to make sure that my hair received proper nutrients as well.

- Going toward 4th week of using MM, this week my hair still shedding maybe little less than previous week but I feel that it shed more today than yesterday, go figure.... My hair is no longer clumping up together, it soft and more manageable. I think trimming the end of my hair does help with dryness at the end. My scalp does feel itchy from time to time and again, it itches around the hairline area, I still can feel pimple which is getting smaller. I guess my hair and scalp still going through detox period. I almost call it quit at the end of this week because I didn't see improvement in shedding. However, I can see the texture of my hair improved so I will continue through the next week. I will try to post some pictures soon, I even collect my hair that falling out during shower and off shower to compare if it is improving each day. I will keep you an update.....pray for me and I hope I will get to the other side soon... :-)

Thanks for such a thorough write-up gonatural! My box of products is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, I'll be posting here with my results as well. I'm worried about the detox period, but I've never really gone through a transition with using different products that most others have so maybe I won't have one. I jumped right in to CO with no greasy period and started using shampoo bars with no trouble either. my hair seems very forgiving of products, but my scalp is extremely sensitive. Good luck, I hope they continue to detox and eventually normalize :flowers:

Good afternoon everyone,
It has been a tough week and I am sadly to say that I have to stop using MM because of its inconsistency to my hair. Last week, my sis-in-law noticed something wrong with my hair because she said my hair looked oily and clumping up together so she asked me what's happened. I told her about MM product I've been using and the detox period I have to go through, she was freaking out when I told her about amount of hair I've been shedding. So, on the past Saturday, it was my husband niece b-day party and everyone will be there, I decided to stop using MM that day and wash it with other natural shampoo calls 100% Pure, honey/coconut shampoo. It did not have any chemical or preservative in it so I started using it up until today. I think MM made my hair thinner in 1 month of using it and I cannot afford to keep losing hair. I know I really have high expectation with MM and I know it's a great product that I will use it for other part of my body but with hair I think it was irritated my scalp and made the neck line area very itchy. I know everyone difference, some people may have a good result at the end of the detox period, but for me I just wanted to cry when I see how thin my hair is now than before. you can see in the picture that the top of my scalp is thinner than before where I cannot even comb over anymore. I kinda have to think twice if I want to go back to use MM on my hair again. Right now, my hair is shedding less than using MM although I think it's still shedding more before I using MM. I think it will take my hair sometime to adjust itself to normal again. It's like starting to detox with new shampoo all over again but at least my hair did not feel oily or clumping up together anymore. I still use MM Euro Oil and Volumized Mist to keep my hair from drying up. I am still taking supplements for hair so I will see if that thin spot will get covered up soon with new hair.... Please don't get me wrong, MM is great if you can get through the detox period, I hope I have courage to cut my hair short like you then I think it would make the treatment much easier...

I'm using it right now to help combat thinning from hypothyroidism/anemia. I'm only on day 5, so I haven't noticed a difference yet and am still getting used to the products. I do somewhat like them though the shampoos feel gritty and like they tangle up my hair quite a bit. my hair is very short and damaged from bleach so ymmv with that. I'll be updating my blog about it so feel free to follow along. It's definitely worth a try, I ordered the sample pack and you get more than enough to give it a trial run to determine if it works for you or not.

Bit of backstory: I have experienced a lot of hair loss from hypothyroidism and anemia. I shaved my head and have about 1" of hair right now.

I've been using The Morocco Method for almost 2 months now. I have noticed my hair has thickened up a lot. The shampoos take some getting used to, and the conditioners aren't like normal conditioners but I really love their product line now that I've gotten used to using it. My hair is very very short, but it does feel soft and is shiny with using this method. I'd recommend getting the sampler starter pack, they're meant to be used by rotating all of the different shampoos with each wash. I love the spray conditioner to take down bedhead, it isn't overly moisturizing though. More of a mist than a conditioner.

I really hope you feel better!! :) It's expensive but it seems well worth it. I ordered a brush from their site, with it came they gave me a list of their products and i couldn't help but notice how natural it all seemed! I'm a big sucker for that kind of thing, and there was bound to be someone on this site who had tried it. :) Thank you so much!

I'm giving it another shot. Don't remember why I stopped the last time...

You're right though, the products really do take some getting used to. It's almost like I'm trying to train my hair to adapt to water-only! (Before this I was using soap-based 'poo bars.)

I have read: a number of threads on this system here, the Morrocco Method website forum before certain posts were deleted (like the one in which someone reported a brown coating on their hair brush bristles from the products), and the ingredients of the products past and present, on the MM website.

"Detox" is just a marketing term for removing the coatings from other products. Clarifying the hair before using the system would eliminate a lot of the "transition time" and make buying the Detox clay unnecessary.

The Morrocco Method shampoos all contain natural coating ingredients of their own in various degrees which is why it is recommeded to alternate them. Plus you need to buy more product.

The line has been reported often to darken lighter colours of hair.

It is recommeded to pre-oil before shampooing. That makes sense because the coatings in the shampoos will be less likely to adhere to the hair as well, causing the clumping and tangling reported.

I am not sure what "liquified crystals" from "the Foothills of the Himalayan Mountain Ranges of Tibet and India" are in the conditioning spray, and instant conditioner, hardly a full disclosure of ingredients. I had never heard of such a thing, although there is probably a logical, less romantic explanation somewhere, just not on the MM website. They may well be this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himalayan_salt). See also this (http://naturalhealthnews.blogspot.com/2008/01/salt-may-be-health-scam.html). If so, and I think they probably are, the ingredient is just mineralized rock salt.

Is that bad? No, not necessarily in the amount used. There is some question about the flouride content of Himalayan salt. Are 'Himalayan' Salts Safe? - Update (http://www.rense.com/general80/salt.htm) "... fluoride exposure is *cumulative* ..." Fluoride and Human Health (http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hl-vs/iyh-vsv/environ/fluor-eng.php#is) "Most Canadians are exposed to fluorides on a daily basis, through the trace amounts that are found in almost all foods and through those that are added to some drinking water supplies to prevent tooth decay."

See also this thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=8437) on salt, used with and without clay. It is not about Himalayan salt.

Is the line good? Some people love it. Increased growth? Some people do report that. Decreased shedding? Again reports are mixed and it really depends on the cause of the shedding. The Morrocco Method is not a cure-all for scalp and hair issues.

It is expensive. If one can afford it and likes it, like any other conventional product routine, I see no reason at this point why not to use it. The ingredients of the "natural preservative system" are not given just like there are no details on the crystals. That makes a detailed product analysis much more difficult and limits buying the line as an educated consumer.

Anthonoy Morrocco has stated on the MM forum in the past that there are complete ingredient lists of the products on the MM website when questioned about it. That was not accurate then, nor is it now. MORROCCO METHOD INT'L (https://morroccomethod.com/)

I am not clear on that line after the raw apple cider vinegar. If that is to indicate that the natural preservative system is that plus 92 tace minerals, something is very wrong with that picture. Raw apple cider vinegar is not a preservative.

What on earth is Blood of the Dragon Rare Protein? Also given the rather unregulated use of organic, I'm not sure that means much. And how does that not rot?

What on earth is Blood of the Dragon Rare Protein? Also given the rather unregulated use of organic, I'm not sure that means much. And how does that not rot?

No doubt one of these species (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dracaena_(plant))for Blood of the Dragon and either there is no real preservative system, which is highly unlikely, or it is simply not included in the list. Very "exotic" marketing. I did read the ingredient lists but they vary as to how the preservative system is listed and I did not memorize the lists.

Examples: No line after after the trace minerals but no comma either
CHI Instant Hair Conditioner (https://morroccomethod.com/shop?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=50&category_id=16)
"Raw, Vegan, Wild Crafted Organic Ingredients: A Synergistic Blend of 100% Natural Sea Plants, Marine Proteins of Macrocystis Pyrifera (Kelp), Porphyra Laciniata (Nori), Laminaria Japonica (Kombu) and Fucus Vesiculus, Jatropha Dioica (Blood of the Dragon) Rare Proteins, Opuntia Engelmanii (Cactus), Thea Sinensis (Green Tea) and Olea Europeae (Olive) Oil, Crystals from Tibet liquified into a Crystalline Organic Herbal Base with Extracts of Gualtheria Promcumbens (Herbs and Spices), Raw Apple Cider Vinegar and 92 Trace Minerals Natural Preservatives."

And this has no preservatives listed period. Very odd if 100% complete - The link to the ingredients is not working when copied.
Diamond Crystal Mist Instant Conditioner (https://morroccomethod.com/conditioners)
"100% Complete Ingredients List:
Raw, Vegan, Wild Crafted Organic Ingredients: Micro Clustered Ionized Water (Click Here to Learn More About Our Ionized Water), Wild Crafted Organic Crystals from the Foothills of the Himalayan Mountain Ranges of Tibet and India, liquified into a Crystalline Organic Herbal Base with Extracts of Wild Rose (Rosa Rubiginosa), Jasmine (Jasmium Officinale), Sandalwood (Santalum Albus), Myrrh (Commiphora Myrrha) and Shikekai (Acornus Calamus)."

They claim something to preserve it, but no idea other than there is a big cycle and such. Then again, they say that a BBB is vegan. My knitted shed dog hair hat isn't vegan, so no way that brush is. Not paying that much to put clay, seaweed, salt on me.

I bought the MM Agave Mist about a month ago. It's pretty good. I got a buy one/get one free deal on it, and it's a big bottle, so I have A LOT of this stuff. I apply very generous amounts to my washed, finger combed hair and then let my waves air-dry (or twist sections for more curl later). Once dry, I flip my head unside down and fluff it a bit to break up any wave clumps. And it's not bad on dry hair next day. It's not amazing but it's far better than straight aloe on my hair which makes my hair kinda crunchy. I am not thrilled with the other MM products. I do like their scalp massager!

Just a quick question for anyone using this line; How do you store your products?

My bathroom gets very steamy when I shower, even with the fan on, so I'm a little bit worried about the heat and moisture possibly making the natural ingredients in my MM stuff go rancid if I keep them at the end of the tub with all my other stuff.

Join the Healthy Hair Club on the Morrocco Method site. They rotate the products with sale prices. They used to knock off about four dollars if you bought 5 shampoos at the same time but no longer.

There's also a link to sales on the far right of the menu bar.

Morrocco Method is different than other shampoos. It doesn't lather much and they all smell earthy (I happen to like). The Chi conditioner has absolutely no slip.

I love the blond boar bristle pocket size brush on my delicate, fine hair.

But miracles? Sorry!

Just thought I'd add my experience with Morrocco Method...

I rotated the original four shampoos - Earth, Air, Fire and Water, washing every second day for two months. Eventually I got sick of waxy hair and switched to a shampoo bar which seems to be working fine.

The Chi conditioner I found to be good for using on the length to remove a heavy oiling, more like a gentle cleanser than a conditioner. I found the Pearl Essence conditioner to be more moisturising, almost too heavy for me. My scalp didn't like the Euro Organic Oil, but then again my scalp doesn't like any oil. The oil was okay on the length, but for me didn't compare to coconut oil. After two months of working all this out I have tangley and stretchy ends, which is the opposite of what I expected since the products are supposed to contain protein.

The rubber scalp massager was thrown in for free but I couldn't figure out how to use it without creating a tangled mess. However, DH with his short hair is enjoying it very much. I had to return the blond BBB because it really is just for very fine/thin hair, not for long hair (unless it's very fine/thin) as it says on the website, and it didn't penetrate to my scalp.

Like others who have contributed to this thread, I am dubious about many of their claims. I was willing to put those doubts to the back of my mind if they turned out to be great products, but for me they were not.

Hope someone reading this finds it helpful. Of course, this was just my experience and YMMV.

I'm bumping this thread because I bought a few MM products today and I ordered some that I will get next week.

Today, I got small bottle of the Euro Oil, Earth shampoo, Chi shampoo and Dragon Blood Styling Gel. I meant to get Chi conditioner instead of shampoo -- that will teach me not to shop without my reading glasses! :silly:

I tried the Earth shampoo this afternoon. I shampooed twice with a small amount. Then I conditioned with Griffin Remedy conditioner, since I had no MM conditioner.

My hair is clean and soft. I applied a little Dragon Blood Styling Gel to my crown in lieu of hair spray. It smells very much like pure aloe gel, but it didn't leave my hair as crunchy as aloe gel usually does -- it feels very soft.

I also applied a couple of drops of Euro Oil to my face while it was moist after my shower and my skin just drank it up! My face feels like velvet! I will use some Euro Oil on my hair before I braid it for bed tonight.

Are there any long-term MM users here? If so, which products are your favorites and why? Do you rotate all of them like the site recommends? :flower:

I also applied a couple of drops of Euro Oil to my face while it was moist after my shower and my skin just drank it up! My face feels like velvet! I will use some Euro Oil on my hair before I braid it for bed tonight.

Are there any long-term MM users here? If so, which products are your favorites and why? Do you rotate all of them like the site recommends? :flower:

How much did you use? Was there any lather? I've been considering trying this but would like to hear firsthand experience first.

I use the MM sprays Diamond Crystal Mist and one that is now seemingly discontinued, as well as the Euro Organic oil, occasionally. I tried the entire line of shampoos, and the chi conditioner, but found they left my hair looking dull.

The most effective of MM concepts, for me, is the lunar hair care chart that outlines the best days in the entire year in which to trim hair, or retard hair growth with shaving, waxing ect. I've followed it for years, and find it to be outstanding how it actually does seem to have an effect. I do not trim often, but this year I aim to thicken my hemline using only the best dates (offered on the site) throughout the year to do so. Likewise, I follow the hair growth retarding chart for body hair, and found it to be almost unbelievable how it does work by stretching the time between shaves, or waxing..

JennSo far, I've tried the Earth and the Chi shampoos. There was absolutely no lather for the Earth, which makes sense, since it is clay based. There was the slightest bit of lather for the Chi, but not what one thinks of as lather. If you've ever used aritha (herb), it was similar to that.

I used a quarter-sized amount. It doesn't spread very well -- there is very little slip. I couldn't imagine how it was going to clean the length, but it seemed to do so.

I did not use a conditioner, since I don't have a MM one, yet. Detangling was a bit difficult and my hair looked and felt very clean, but a bit dry and tangly. After it dried, I applied a little BWC leave-in, which solved the issue.

This morning, I shampooed twice with MM Sea Essence. This one feels somewhat more like conventional shampoo, though it doesn't lather at all; it has more slip and is more spreadable than Earth or Chi, I think. I conditioned with MM Pearl Essence. It has nice slip, though it can't compare with the slip of most mainstream conditioners. It smells pleasant, and isn't overpowering.

Detangling was pretty easy on one side of my head and not on the other. That's usually the case, and I don't know why. I applied Euro Oil last night and braided my hair, so I can't imagine why one side would be more tangly than the other.

I smoothed a drop of Euro Oil over my crown in lieu of hairspray.

I was not at all happy with the way that my hair looked today. It is very dark, without any light, bright highlights. It has a matte finish -- no shine.

When I took my hair down when I got home, detangling was difficult.

I have been using MM for, I believe, three days, using a different shampoo each day. Today is the first day that I used a MM conditioner with the shampoos.

I know that Mr. Morrocco suggests rotating all five of his shampoos. Aside from a couple of samples, I only have big bottles of the Chi shampoo and conditioner. I seriously considered ordering full sizes of the other flavors, but stopped when I realized that would end up being in the neighborhood of $100. Not to mention, it would add a bunch of bottles to the collection in my bathroom.

I may change my opinion, but I suspect that MM is going to be a very passing fancy for me. I think I'll rotate it with other "natural" shampoos and conditioners, probably saving it for days that I'm working from home.

I'm not disappointed that I tried it. Otherwise, I would have always wondered whether it was my HG line.

I haven't tried the MM neutral henna, yet. I plan on doing that this weekend. I still hold out high hopes for that.

Oh, and I really like the Euro Oil as a facial moisturizer.

From what I have read about results with the method on the website forum (theirs), I am not a fan of the system. One of the suggestions repeated there is patience in the "transition period" between using other products and the system and their "clarifying" method. I suggest if you continue to use the products, taking a shortcut and clarifying your hair first with a clarifying shampoo (not their product) or baking soda and a vinegar rinse.

The products do coat the hair and there were reports on the boards there of brushes getting a dark residue on them from the system. The coatings do contribute to tangling, in my opinion.

That said there are those who like the system and find it helpful for various scalp disorders and hair issues.

Good luck!

I have been using this shampoos for 3 months now. I stop using my Ayurveda herbs just out of laziness.:o I really like the Sea Essence Shampoo and the Earth but I don't like the ACV shampoo. But the price is high, so I am going to experiment with Rhassoul clay. The fact that MM shampoo is already mixed and ready to go is easy for me. I found it is very easy to spread on when the hair is wet. Also leaves my hair very soft and shinny. HTH

I just ordered a new shipment because I needed to get some more Feng Shea facial scrub (that stuff is my holy grail facial product) it was on sale too YAY! While I was on the site, I noticed they have some new products since I last ordered anything, soap bars, and a Kajal, as well as Pearl essence conditioner. I ordered two bars, the Kajal (which I REALLY can't wait to try) and a trial size of the pearl essence conditioner, which I have high hopes for, considering what it looks like and how thick it is I think it'll end up being a deep treatment product, but we'll see.

Also, I wanted to mention, today(and tomorrow) is the optimal day this month to trim to encourage thickening of the hair(and one of the best days in the whole year)according to their lunar chart, so of course I trimmed today. I took less than an inch off, but it made a big difference, considering it is my first trim in almost 3 years.

I'll be back to give opinions about all my new products once they arrive. :)

Also, for those who aren't fans of the shampoo system, there is a transition period, especially if you're going straight from chemical products. I stuck it through, and found out that my hair likes the Sea, and the Fire ones, but not the others...(I've never tried the Chi shampoo, but my husband loved the Chi conditioner)

I suspect that it was the clay in the earth one my hair reacted too, but I found it made a great face cleanser, when I ran out of the Feng Shea one time. So, then I used the rest on my face..lol.

I got my shipment the other day, and I have to say OMG does the Pearl Essence conditioner smell like heaven in a tube?? Yes. (I think it is predominantly coconut that comes out, but something more mmm) My fatso cat Lebbaeus wouldn't get his head out of the package..any catnip in there?? I threatened to bathe him with the sample shampoos..lol. I haven't used it yet, so I can't comment on the product itself.

As for the soaps, they are REALLY fantastic, I've only ever used one brand that it is comparable to and that brand charges $11 a bar. So if MM comes up with one that smells like grapefruit heaven I will be stuck for life :)

As for the Kajal, I wish I had something to compare it to, I love it, but I can't say what it is like. It gives great colour, and it feels so nice on my eyes, with a cooling hint that I think is menthol, it isn't something I thought I would like on my eyes, but it feels really nice. Also, I suffer from dry eyes frequently, and I think it helped with that, I didn't find myself reaching for my drops at all when wearing it. Though I was self conscious about smudging the product, I think from now on if I am going to do a black tightline look I'd use a Kajal just for that neat cooling effect.

So the reviews for this stuff are pretty decent, and since I got paid today I bought the CHI Instant Hair conditioner at a local heath food store (wanted to try the Pearl Essence one but CHI was the only one they had), and I was wondering if anyone has used this conditioner with non MM brand shampoos? I use shampoo bars and was looking for a natural condish to use on my dry ends, and was wondering if anyone else has experimented with this stuff but not the shampoo...

I've used MM on & off for a few years. I've only used the original 4 'poos with the Chi, and now Pearl Essense, conditioners.

I definitely like these products, but they are more work to use and they take longer to wash with, so I get lazy and switch to other methods (various CO/CWC/SCs) with naturalish products.

I do dilute the 'poos and Chi conditioners to use.
I do use a non-MM naturalish conditioner on the length from the neck down.
I do find a small amount of lather from the 'poos.
The Pearl Essense conditioner was too much for my thin, fine hair, but I sometimes used it on the length for a "CWC" type wash.

I think MM would be my preferred product if I always had the time/energy/money for it.

I was actually using MM before finding this forum. I used it for about 9 months. Finally in November I switched to BS/ACV rinse and my hair was suddenly shiny again and had movement. I currently rotate 'poo bars and BS and am hoping to add in Toadstool shampoos. My hair never felt clean with MM but I continued to use it because it was the first natural product that didn't make my hair tangly...I just decided I like hair to move separately from my head and not as one big glob :)

For a while, that company was spamming heavily on a few hair boards. Put me off them. I see spamming s the marketing choice of less than stellar companies.

That said, I've used similar formulations by others and was never all that impressed. Especially for the cost.

If you are using typical drug store and salon product, these are a good stepping stone to more natural products.

I ordered the travel-size packs (both shampoos & conditioners) maybe 5-6 years ago..? :) Bottles looked different back then and obviously I don't know if the formulas are still the same. If I remember correctly, my biggest problem with them was that they didn't give enough slip.

I think I liked the ACV shampoo (I didn't hate any of the shampoos) and the Euro oil was quite good. I don't recall that they had this cream rinse back then. But I remember not liking the CHI conditioner and the detox mask was just awful. I couldn't even spread them to my hair. And heavily diluted they didn't have any effect. I haven't tried them since then but I'm actually quite interested to try their shampoos with a regular conditioner..:hmm: Thanks for reminding me of MM! :)

The detox mask is bentonite clay. Face mask clay. Make it runny (possibly withACV), apply to scalp and length, let sit five minutes rinse and condition. Could shampoo, too to,be sure the grit is gone but CO wash will do.

This is off topic, but thank you for mentioning this!! I was thinking about trying argan oil, but for all my reading here for the last several months, I'd somehow missed this crucial fact! Thank goodness I didn't drop a bunch of cash for something that could send me to the ER.

I have nut allergies and I don't use some of the products and I don't follow their strict rule since I only shampoo my hair 2x or 3x a month and only water-wash on days that I do my piloxing session. I am fine with argan oil though. I'm not sure why it is classified as a nut since it is a fruit. Some of their products contains kukui nut oil and I think cashew nuts etc so I stay away from them.

Has anyone try their elixirs yet? Asked for a sample but they don't provide samples. I don't know why. Their elixirs are expensive and I'm a bit uncomfortable putting down that much for something that won't even let me look at the ingredients list. The only product I use from them is their Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo and I use that bi-monthly. Recently repurchase from their website since the one over at Amazon is more expensive.

I've used MM on and off. I go between shampoo bars and this for my seborrheic dermatitis/eczema type of scalp. I only massage the poos into my scalp and just let water on the rinse take it to the ends.

Earth: Is a good thickening poo for my female pattern hair loss. Good if your scalp can get oily.

ACV: This is also good. I like that it has apple cider vinegar in it as I hate the smell of it straight up and could never stick to ACV rinses.

Sea: Smells the best of them all imo. Really like it too.

Pine: Could not get past the smell of crude oil so not having used it, I tossed it.

Pearl Rinse: Really like this. Is a thinner consistency than the poos and makes hair very soft, shiny, and my curls are bouncy. Really don't need gel with this on those dry air days.

Dragon Gel: Love this! Have used this consistently since 03 when it was coming in jars. A little goes a long way and it's the only gel anywhere that is completely all natural.

A website that has some MM a bit cheaper and the shipping if you use flat rate mail makes it cheaper than buying from amazon or MM site itself:

Jumping onto the Morrocoo Method thread, maybe revivifying it. :)

I got the Tester pack about....4 weeks ago? So far, I'm really liking it. I wash my hair twice a week, so expect to rotate through all of the shampoos twice in about 5 weeks or so.

Here's what I do:

I got a little 4 oz bottle with one of those spreader combs on top at Sally's
I put half the shampoo (1 oz) in the 4 oz bottle, add 3 oz warm water and shake shake shake shake to mix
In the shower, I get my hair really wet, then use the squeeze bottle comb to get half the mixture down to my scalp
Then I massage, rub, 'shampoo', and rinse really well
Apply the other half of the mixture to my scalp, massage well, clip up my hair with my big plastic shower clip and do other shower things
Take hair down, rinse really really REALLY well
If I feel I need a conditioner, I dilute 1:4, and apply from my ears down, leave on for a few moments, rinse well

I am really liking MM overall, and am starting to have hope that it will help control (eliminate? please...) my SD, which has been really bad for the past couple of years. I'm going to finish out the trial pack to get a good idea of what my hair likes and doesn't like, then order a couple of products. My hair doesn't like all of them, but does like most, and really likes some!

So far, according to my hair:

Shampoos:
Pine Shale: Nope
Earth Essence: Yep
Apple Cider: .....hmmmmm...lemme get back to you on that one
Sea Essence: Gimme more of that!
Heavenly Essence: Yeah, I like that, too!

Conditioners:
Floating Lotus: LUUUUUUV THIS
Pearl Essence: Meh

Sprays:
Diamond Crystal: What is this? Is this supposed to do something? Put more on.
Sapphire Volumizer: Not sure ....maybe

Feng Shea scrub: Haven't tried it.
Dragon styling gel: Best. Gel. Ever.
Euro Oil: Pretty much like other oils....it's okay
Zen Detox: My hair kind of freaked out with it (dry, frizzy, greasy, lank, poufy...yep, all at once) but I'm thinking maybe that was a detox thing? I'll try it again.

Hello!

I'm hoping there could be more discussion about this topic. I'm wondering if there's anyone else who's been using this brand for a longer time, going past the honeymoon phase? How are the wonderful effects holding up?

I've been using the MM shampoos exclusively for about two and a half years now. The first year or so (hard to tell exactly) it was obvious this was the best thing my hair and scalp had ever seen; my hair got better in every way, more hair started growing (even in little bald spots I considered to be permanent), it became healthier, shinier, thicker got a deeper color, my SD disappeared for a long time, I shedded less.

Side note: despite my conviction of the wonder that is Morrocco Method, I do consider their marketing to be bad, even outrageous and ridiculous in places, but that doesn't diminish the quality of the product. In the end, if what cosmetics marketing isn't a little ridiculous?

I've been rotating all five shampoos since the beginning, so I haven't systematically followed the effects of each individual shampoo. All I can say is that they all seem to have their place in my routine, especially since my hair's needs have balanced out since starting this. I've mostly only used the shampoos, conditioners only sporadically. The Pearl Essence Creme Rinse is okay, but the Floating Lotus Conditioner makes my hair more frizzy than normal (but works well as a co-wash, even to clear dandruff). I think conditioners are not really the forte of this brand.

Anyhow, my issue: the past year (or so) my hair and scalp have gotten worse, which I attribute mostly to chronic stress and other underlying health issues (looks like even MM can't override the most important thing, which is your general state of health), but it has gotten me thinking about my routine again. For example, am I breaking hairs with the scrubbing/massaging of the scalp while the hair is wet? How does one avoid this? Also, should I start using a conditioner with every wash, and would it be better if the conditioner was by another brand? Should I alternate with a different shampoo, or even take a break from MM altogether for a while?

If I were you, I would try regular drugstore shampoos (maybe gentle or harsh cleansers depending on your wants and needs), and see how you fare; if it's better or not. It will be a heck of a lot cheaper, that's for sure (I'm on a budget so I look at these things).

I, myself, use a lot of shampoo, so I don't get as much "friction" and the suds loosen the dirt & debris well.

The budget issue is definitely another reason I started re-examining my routine. :D As I mentioned in another thread, though, I did try another cheaper gentle shampoo, which turned out to be too irritating for my scalp. It's not very budget-friendly going out to buy all kinds of new shampoos that turn out not to work, either. The MM shampoo bottles have lasted me a very long time though, because they're so concentrated, so in the end they don't get quite as expensive as it seems. Still, it's not cheap. I am going to consider taking a break from these, if I can only come across a gentle enough substitute. It's possible MM works best as a kind of temporary treatment, in the way of a course of hair vitamins.

I had been using all 5 cleansers exclusively for quite some time. Now I rotate with natural shampoo bars, ayurvedic herbs and recently Jessicurl revisited. I still love MM, and actually find it quite cost effective since I'm a diluter. I use about 1 oz product and dilute to about 4-5 oz in an applicator bottle. I only buy when I have a discount code, and the set of five last me more than a year. When I use MM I get the best results with no conditioner. I sometimes use a gel or cream, but I started liking and accepting my natural curl/frizz when I go mimimalist. I think my hair does better when I change it up a bit, and I like my products-I get bored using one thing or line too long, but I keep what works. I never had a detox period, and I love the concept so will continue to use this in my routine. I find that it works best when I cleanse (massage with hands) quickly, rinse, cleans again using a cheap rubbery scalp brush, clip it up during my showere(fyi-daily washer here, too, and it still lasts me forever), then rinse and, only after rinsing, I detangle. I cannot detangle thoroughly with MM in may hair...way diff than with conditioner, but it works. I hope you find a routine/products that you feel work well for you.

I dilute as well, and a set of 5 bottles lasts me more than a year, too. I'm only on my second round of bottles now. Alternating with other products does sound appealing, even just for the thrill of new things. Can't see myself ever discarding MM completely.

My detoxing experience was curious. When I first tried MM (before my current streak) in Spain, where the water is very hard, I could not get rid of the gunky hair for several months, so I quit. But when I got back to it in Finland, with soft water, after a year and a half of other products, I had absolutely no detox whatsoever, perfect results from the beginning. I read that some people don't have this problem with hard water, so I don't know what that's about, but this is what happened to me.

What is the cleanser in the shampoo bars you use, curly girl fla? I've seen a lot of bars sold where I live, but they seem to be very different in composition. I used a shampoo bar in the past, but it was very foamy and worked just as efficiently as a regular industrial shampoo, so I don't think it's the same kind as what people talk about in here. Also, how often do you alternate, as in do you just include other shampoos in the wash-by-wash rotation, or just use up a bottle of one thing before moving on to the next, or going by the hair's needs at the moment? I'm aware that everyone should find their own routine and not just copy others, but I'm curious :eye:, not least because I have limited space for shampoo bottles in the shower.

I like the MM gel for frizz and as a sort of leave-in conditioner. Another thing is just aloe vera gel and some kind of oil on top. I've just been wondering about the conditioner, since my hair is dry by nature and there's generally so much talk of conditioners. I feel left out ;) I had a (trustworthy) hairdresser once tell me that using conditioner all the time is not necessarily a good idea, and I did notice and improvement when I first left out regular post-shampoo conditioner. But there's still probably reason to have some kind of conditioning going on at regular intervals. Right now I'm trying to incorporate a Shea Moisture Deep Conditioner in my routine, but before shampooing, so I guess as a pre-poo.

I have used many kinds of natural soap/shampoo bars. Chagrin Valley are my favorites. I have hard water, so I need an acidic rinse. ACV works well, but I really prefer citric acid now. As far as rotation goes, I do so as I feel the need or desire. I don't use one thing up and then move onto the next. With MM I usually go one or two weeks, then take a break with something else. I like MM gel, but it actually seems a little drying, as does straight aloe, even direct from the leaf. Kinky Curly and Spiralicious are my best gels at the moment, and Karen's Body Beautiful, J Monique and Nightblooming have my favorite hair creams. Sometimes I use just creams/shea butter, sometimes cream+gel, sometimes just gel, sometimes nothing...I am getting used to my hair in various states of frizz, curl definition, or lack there of...more tolerant of less 'perfect' hair as I age, I suppose. :)

Sounds interesting. I have always kind of considered my frizz as an inevitability. I never really realized you could do something about it (without destroying your hair in the process). The MM gel is actually the first gel and the first styling product I've ever used, so I obviously don't have anything to compare it to. The world of styling products seems very strange and confusing to me (what even is a hair cream?). It's starting to sound intriguing, but I'm not sure I should get in to it. Do you think there is some kind of conditioner-like health/protection benefit to it?

Has anyone used the Morrocco Method Boar Bristle Brush? I'm looking to get a new BBB and I can't swallow the price for a Mason Pearson. I'm interested in the MM large mixed bristle brush. I'd love to hear anyone with experience with it.

The MM large mixed bristle brush has been my most used and favorite boar bristle brush so far. I kind of abused it and neglected washing as often as I should have, so I had to let it go. I'm using another one right now, but of all the ones I've had, that one is the only one I would buy again.

Thanks, I bit the bullet and ordered one. It should be here today or tomorrow. I also got the Pine Shale shampoo-but only the travel size because I wanted to test it before fully committing to it. I tend to be allergic to a lot of natural based shampoos. I'm really hoping this works for me though because my scalp hates my current products.

It's been almost two weeks using the shampoo and the brush. My opinion is that I would re-buy the brush but not the shampoo. Unfortunately its caused a major reaction with my scalp. I'm glad I only got the tester size, and sad story is that their other shampoos have some of my known allergens in them so it looks like their products-other than the brush-is a no-go for me :(

Reviving this thread as I have toyed with the brand off and on since my last reply.

Christmas season 2020 I bought a lot of products while they were running really good sales for the holidays and have added them into my rotation.

Since my last reply they have added a shampoo bar and condituoner bar and they are my absolute favorites! I rotate the liquid shampoos as mentioned and surprisingly I have not had any allergic reaction like I thought I would.

I was 2x a week. I wash twice as advised. The 1st wash I always use the shampoo bar and rinse, then I use the liquid shampoo diluted 50/50 with filtered water. I apply it to my scalp and the conditioner bar to my length and leave it sitting in a bun while I finish my shower.

After rinsing everything I squish the water out of my hair and seperate my hair into 4 sections. Each section I add 3 drops of Euro Oil, and a bit of The Blood of the Dragon aloe gel. I then brush the sections through and "ribbon" curl them...basically brush and shake so my curls clump together.

My goal this next year is to follow this routine as well as add in some of the other treatments to see how my hair improves/grows over the next year. My longest layer barely skims hip when pulled straight. My long term goal is hip while curly.

Not sure how to post pics yet so here is one I posted on Instagram

I never heard about it, i search and it has no name in Brazil (and either the brand). The method is just some habits that can be adopted.
