View Full Version : What is your natural boom?

A few days ago, my mom decided that combing out my freshly washed, no-product/oil hair was an AWESOME IDEA, and the frizz was so bad, I just had to take pictures. xD; I haven't had hair that bad since before I came to LHC. Even my frizzy days are better.

http://i681.photobucket.com/albums/vv172/Astatl/DSCF1512-1.jpg

'Twas quite comical, but it got me thinking. My hair doesn't dry EXACTLY like that without anything in it after, but back when I was S&C, it would, 'cept it would feel more like steel wool than that did, but you get the point.

So I came up with the idea for a 'natural boom' thread, as opposed to the 'BIGBOOMOFBRUSHING' thread that we already have. So get'ta posting. xD;

Wow, GlassEyes, I wish my hair would look that great without any product. If I didn't use conditioner, I'd be just a matted ball of knots and frizz -- a total rat's nest. Yours, on the other hand, looks gorgeous!!

Glasseyes - for a bad frizz day picture, that looks really terrific.

Sweetie, you have no idea what frizz is! Your curls are exquisite in that picture and if I had curls like that I would sit up all night and stare at them. (Really, I would!)

Your hair is beautiful! I expected something looking like a brillo pad, not those gorgeous curls and shine! You have very pretty hair.

I would post a pic...but my hair is straight. It pretty much looks straight no matter what I do to it.
I'll be waiting to see other people's pics (and I'll be jealous, too! :p)

I'm with everyone else that your hair looks great still. I had a boyfriend in college with really curly hair that he kept long-ish (and obviously didn't take as good care of as you) who had a bad habit of running his hands through his hair when he was working on problem sets. He would just stick his fingers in at the roots and pull outwards. So by the time we finished a weekly set, he would be a big puff-ball, kinda like my mom's bichon frises. Man, wish I'd taken pictures.

I only have brush boom pics. My natural boom can be seen in my avatar.

YOUR hair, on the other hand...simply gorgeous!

I'm only wurly, so no boom. I do however envy those who can have an afro if they want one! I think that's such a cool style!

Oh and, you are so adorable it's not fair...stop it. :p

Here is mine, tonight after I washed my hair. No product, combed through when wet and just left alone.

I think your hair looks so pretty in this pic! You've still got good curl definition and your hair is unfairly shiny.

I get the same giant boom from combing my hair as I do from brushing. Once you start separating my strands, even with fingercombing, they explode into a giant floating cloud.

Glasseyes: I love your curls! If this is how it looks on a "bad" day they must be phenomenal on a good day. Your hair looks terrific.

ladyEliza: I love how full and thick and wavy your hair is!
I use to perm to get that look and boy do I miss those curls!

Um, that's frizz? I clicked the picture, then clicked back into the post expecting an "after" photo. I'm not even a 3 and my frizz kicks your frizz's butt. :p

Rhubarbarin, how do you avoid combing without getting dreads? Maybe 3's can get away with it more?

For some reason we usually can. I comb, but it helps spread conditioner in the shower because I'm too lazy to do a thorough job putting it in. XD

I think it has something to do with the way our hair moves and 'locks; in clumps, rather than strings/singular strands, so they separate off and avoid tangling with hair that doesn't lock with others. Usually, anyway. Maybe.

@getoffmyskittle: xD I'm sure the flash has something to do with the frizz not being seen. It was pretty bad.

I don't know. My hair doesn't tangle! Not to say you can run your fingers through it, but I don't get visible tangles or matting. It's very weird.
I have really damaged hair, nasty rough ends full of dots and splits.. it should be a giant dread. Maybe because it's always conditioned and full of leave-in? Or like GlassEyes says, the natural clumps keep everything aligned.

I never touch it dry. Sometimes I fingercomb when it has condish in it in the shower.. but not usually. When I do my final rinse, all the dead hairs and any tangles from washing just fall right out. A lot of it has to do with conditioner.. it happens most noticeably with Aubrey Organics.
