Could someone recommend some good web sites to show how to do different updo's? (or even past links in this forum with directions to some of them?)

There is only so much I can do with my long hair right now (and of course I don't want to cut it!). My hair is silky and doesn't have a lot of body to it. So even when I put it up in a clip, it can fall down pretty fast. I would probably need to try it tighter with many hair clips. :-) I taught myself how to french braid my hair back in high school. I remember I got very frustrated trying to do this on my own. It took many tries, and after much hair loss later.... I finally learned how to do it! So I would like to try new ways to style my hair, but the best instructions would really help.

You could go under "The Mane Forum" on this site, then "VIT-Links to very important threads"up by the top of page, and then go to "hairstyle instructions"(or maybe it says links.)

There are some great hairstyle instructions at the top of the page under "Articles". Also Torrin Paige has wonderful videos on Youtube!

Dreamweaver braiding. (http://www.dreamweaverbraiding.com/) I love that place and its great for all types of interesting and unusual plaits when you get sick of buns.

I have never gone further then a french braid or simple bun, so I am happy to show my first two attempts to new styles for my long hair. :-) These pictures are my first attempts so it isn’t all that fancy. :-)

I took our fellow member’s suggestion (Heidi_234) about not using an elastic band when trying the Chinese bun. I started with a braid in the middle, and then followed the instructions for the Chinese bun from there. No elastic band needed! You can see a little bit of the braid in the middle that I hadn't taken all the way out.

Maybe as my hair grows out (and my layers!), my hair will be thicker at the bottom and I will have more to wrap around the bun.

The next picture is a figure eight bun.

Thanks to all who suggested places I could go for idea’s. I have so many more I want to try! :-)
