Its so wierd, i've had long hair my whole life, and the only hair styles i can accomplish are hair down, basic bun, and braid LOL. I want to get some hair sticks and practice with them. Do you guys have any ideas for updos? I really like the retro 50's rockabilly kinda hair doos. But i can barely get the basics done. I need to learn updos bad. Any good tips? Styles? anything? Im sorry, because i SHOULD know all this by now.:o

I'm in the same boat. I'm not very creative when it comes to hairstyles. I don't think I have the coordination (or patience) to do some of the fancier (and pretty) stuff I see on LHC and other websites. I'll try it a couple times, get frustrated and give up.

When I found this place 2 years ago, I only wore my hair one of three ways- braid, half up or double braids. The thing to do is get a pair of cheap hairsticks (use chopsticks or knitting needles if you don't have the $$) and practice, practice, practice. Pick out a hairdo that you like here and just keep doing it. Have fun!

Do NOT GIVE UP! Start with a simpler style that you like and just keep practicing that. I've been here 2 years and my hairdo portfolio has expanded, but there is some stuff that I just can't do. I'm either too impatient or too uncoordinated. Just try and have fun with it. :sun:

I guess that means, practice practice practice LOL. I will, i want to learn some new styles, since the only way to keep my hair from getting damaged is keeping it up! Lol

I've a couple of styles that I wear: ponytail, bun, braid. Not much going on here! I think that learning new hair styles has to do with a person's learning "style."

It took me about six months to get a french braid nice enough to wear it out of the house. I've just started with forks and hair sticks. I usually spend an hour or so (time gets away when I play with my hair) two or three times a week trying new things. Usually my problem is I can get it nice the night before and then not the next morning! But bascially I'm the same braid, and bun. I think once you have basic braiding you can experiment with multiple braids or braided buns etc. The rest just looks like various ways of wrapping hair. Attitude Yes I Can.

I too struggle with up dos. I like the advice on picking a couple of dos and practicing with those. However, I have a question. When I do an up do alot of times my head gets sore or hurts, will this go away the more I wear my hair up or am I just a wimp???

Well when I found LHC my hair was at BSL and I've never done anything other than ponytails. I didn't even know how to do a basic bun or plain braid. This web site is the where I learned the basics. http://www.haarkram.e-something.de/start.html My hair is very different from hers but the ideas are the same. It really just takes practice. :) Oh and using high quality hairtoys help a lot, too.
