I saw this style done a few days ago on here (I'm so sorry I can't remember who did it but there was a great tutorial with it!) and I convinced my daughter to let me try on her. This was our first attempt and I don't have matching bands so it looks kinda funny but I was pleased nonetheless. When I can get some better elastics we'll try again.

Very nice! It looks so cute.

My mom used to do that to our hair when we were little. She used a million of the small goody elastics. The ones you can get 200 for about a dollar fifty.

She would make it so that all the scalp was covered in diamonds made by the elstics then braid the length. I think she started with 7 or 8 tiny ponytail at the front and went from there, adding a couple more on the sides near the ears to get it to work into the right pattern. We could get at least 2 days wear out of that do. Just make sure you cut them out instead of untangling them.

Great advice! I bet you all looked fantastic like that! Hopefully, with a bit of practice and patience on both our parts, we can get better at it. :)

I'm planning on trying this later, with the clear bands. Thanks for the advice about cutting them out, cindylea1, I've been wondering about how taking them out would go.

That looks so cute with the different colored bands!

CindyLea, that's how I did my hair for a Christmas works do, with about 7 or 8 front sections. All but killed my arms, but everyone said I looked like a mermaid!

I left the rest loose, so all that went in the lattice bit was the front sections.

If I ever feel masochistic enough to do it again I'll post pics.

My attempt for today. I could have kept going, but I was running out of time.

Beautiful!! :)

I'd love to be able to do it that well for DD........I might even try mine some time (just for practice sake).

DD wore her princess dress (halloween costume) all day today and her hair fit in perfectly with it. Everyone got a big kick out of her "look" today. :D

Thanks! I'm sitting here debating whether or not I should sleep with it and see what it looks like in the morning or take it out. I'm kind of afraid of the rubberbands.

I definitely second the advice on cutting those rubber bands out, instead of trying to unwind them like normal pony holders. We use them from time to time, and I always use the nail clippers to get them out. That way there's less chance of cutting my hair with big bulky scissors (especially if they're in the back of my hair and I don't have help).

The posted photos look great, from both the OP and Elphie. Very cute!! :flower:

So cute! I'm loving this hairstyle, and will definitely try it when my hair gets long enough for it, haha! :D

I think this is a really cute hairstyle. Somebody had a version where the strands were brought together in rows of bands and then split apart and recombined in other rows of bands. That was a few years back. Anybody remember who that was?

Gina Carano often wears her hair similarly for her fights (here (http://girlfightersclub.com/images/GinaCarano-1.jpg), here (http://www.gina-carano.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/gina-carano-vs-kaitlin-young.jpg), and here (http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/articlefiles/4156-Gina%20Carano%20Fight.jpg) were some examples I could find), I thought it looked cute (instead of the usual cornrows for fight hair), but like it took impossibly long. What's the kind of usual time frame for you guys to whip those up? If I don't have a rough idea of how long it takes everyone else, and add an hour, I'll start a style and give up 1/3 of the way through from sheer frustration.

Very cute.

I don't use my Knotheads much anymore but I have to say that the short ones worked great when I tried this hairstyle. I felt like they caused much less damage then bands.
