View Full Version : Updo for nearly BSL, thin tangle prone hair?

I tried searching the boards for what I'm looking for, but to no avail. I'm looking for a good updo to wear in my hair, fitting these criteria:

It works for hair about BSL;

I don't have to braid to do it(since I am braid-impaired!);

It minimizes tangles;

It works for thin (not fine, but thin) hair.

I am looking for something that basically puts my hair up gently, lets me leave some whispies in the front, does not involve twisting my hair much (since that often gives me awful tangles and compresses my already thin hair) .. and yet holds halfway decently! However, I'd rather have to redo a style then have it so secure it pulls.

Suggestions?

How about Savi's Lazy wrap bun?

That looked to me like a great idea! But my hair has too much taper, so it doesn't hold for me (sigh) Good guess, though; thanks, Arctic.

An orchid bun works great for me. In buns in articles section.

I lied, it is in the archives. This is my every single day so easy to do bun. Holds like a rock with a singe stick and does not pull. Good luck!

I can do the lazy wrap (kind of) with very thin hair and I'm not quite APL. I just pin the ends.

Other than that, I like a regular cinnamon bun, the
Gibson tuck someone already mentioned, and the Chinese bun (which my hair is kind of still too short for but at BSL you should be able to do it).

Out of all of those, the Gibson tuck and the lazy wrap hide the thinness the best.

If the wrap bun doesn't hold you could try using a thin fork (like a 2 prong) instead of a stick. I have just recently been able to get the wrap bun to stay with a stick and then only with either my wooden ketylo or a my other wooden stick ( its thicker which helps). My fancy sticks wont stay and start to sag.

What about a chinese bun?
