I know that many of you have finer hairs along your nape (as mentioned in another thread) but it seems that I also have fine hairs all along my hairline and my family always teases me about it. I'm 24-years-old and they all like saying that I still have baby hairs..
They don't ever seem to really grow out to normal length hairs so would trimming them encourage them to grow out thicker?

Well... they won't.
Most everyone has 'baby hairs' that are either new growth or hairs with a very short terminal length (the maximum length it can reach before it falls out and starts over). Some people just have more apparent ones than others.
Some people say massaging with castor oil has helped thicken... but I don't know how well it would work at a hair line.
I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure they're lovely.

I guess that makes me young too, as I still have baby hairs! LOL At 48! Seriously we all do have them, but they show up more on some than others.:o:rolleyes::D

Thanks, HairColoredHair. I've grown somewhat fond of them because strangers seem to get even more confused about my age but I figured I'd ask about them anyway.
Haha, you're a baby too, SimplyLongHair! As long as you're young at heart, I think that's what matters most. All those silly numbers.. :hifive:

Agreed! Your baby hairs probably aren't going to grow out, and I certainly wouldn't trim them. You could try the castor oil treatments, or some quality Omega-3 fish oil pills might help thicken them up and strengthen them. Otherwise, just enjoy the youthful radiance it lends to you. :)

I have tons of baby hairs in the sense that I have lots of hairs around my hairline that have a very short terminal length. I've just learned to accept them and deal with them. :p

Embrace the baby hairs! Whenever I see them on a woman, especially when she is wearing an updo, it instantly makes it look softer and more romantic than a smooth front would. Everyone has them and while some may grow to normal length most will remain short. It's just not worth fighting when they are so lovely :)

I have baby hairs too. I thought most people did - I think they're the hairs that aren't quite 'peach fuzz' :D on the bare bits of skin, but not quite 'real' hairy head hairs, if you see what I mean. Mine are the same light colour as my peach fuzz and don't grow any longer than 2 inches max.

I'd definitely leave them alone! They will only look worse if you trim them, and they'll grow back in just the same way - as short, fine baby hairs. Just accept them and love them! :)

You'll always have them. I have so many baby hairs that it looks like I have thin bangs (except that it's easy to keep them off of my face). Seriously, when I pull them down, it's almost funny because I have so much. :p

Yep. . .43 with baby hairs! I think it must be universal!

Me too. There is nothing wrong with you; those hairs just have a shorter terminal growth :)

always had baby hairs , only time when i had a massive battle with them was after i was pregnant with my youngest and i didn't know allot of my hair had fallen out until the baby hairs "all" came through, so now i have a layer of hair above shoulder hight now. "grrr hormones"
i've always had a fluffy hair line, all merges in eventually, it's all normal.......... :D

I have them too, along with peach fuzz all over my face!! I used to battle them constantly growing up, and have gone as far as shaving them off:rolleyes: I would not suggest that because my already big forehead looked even bigger lol. I learned to accept them. If you can't beat them join them

Thanks everyone - the support is really sweet!
I shall lay down the battle scissors. I did try trimming some a little while back and they looked ridiculous.. lol.. Perhaps I was always so self-conscious about mine that I didn't notice everyone else's. Or perhaps I'm just the oddball (once, again!) in my family

Like everyone else who's posted here, I've got the 'baby hairs' too. They used to drive me crazy. Now I like the way they soften my updo's. Because my hair is really straight buns come out really tight looking, but the baby hairs fringe my face and soften it much as a softer, more full updo would.

My baby hairs are truly "baby" hairs, as in it is new growth following pregnancy & then 18 months of nursing. (I know, I know) I have about 4 inches of new growth all intermingled in with my much longer hair. Since I live in Houston I have a halo of frizz on rainy, humid days - I usually slick the ones on top down with some type of conditioner. From experience (this was my second pregnancy) I know that most of them will eventually grow out but that the curliest ones right behind my ears will not. I am just resigned to having curls behind my ears (something in common with our sheltie I guess)

Another baby-haired individual here. The wisps in front of my ears never grow longer than a couple inches.

Don't trim them. They are normal. I'm 25 and still have them. When I had a super short pixie and they were cut a bit, they didn't change. I think they are really cute and attractive (usually if someone teases you about something, that means it is probably a very nice feature).
