I made another hairstyle. Before I add it to the articles I wanted to put it in the forum to see if I need clarification on my explanation.

This is the end result. (somewhat large photo)
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/elainehali/12.jpg

Step one: Devide the hair (Top of the ear over the head and back down to the other ear) Put the back section into a pony tail or bun. This is just to keep the back section of the hair out of the way. The front part is all you really need to work with.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/elainehali/1-4.jpg

Step two: Take another small section, and secure it with a hair friendly rubber band as close to the "ear to ear" part you made in step one. There will be 6 small sections made exactally like this one. The first 6 sections are "generation one".
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/elainehali/2-4.jpg
That is what ONE section should look like.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/elainehali/3-4.jpg
That is what it should look like from the side when you're done with the first 6 sections.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/elainehali/4-4.jpg
From the top. Make sure that at this point the sections have close to the same amount of hair, and they are tidy looking because fixing them would require doing the whole style over again. If you're happy with your sections continue :)

Step Three: Take the two sections that are at the very top of your head and devide those sections in half. Take the closest half of both and join them together to form a new "second generation" section.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/elainehali/6-4.jpg
that's what the first section of "generation 2" should look like.
Then do the same for all the other sections of "generation one". When you get to the "generation one" section that's closest to the ear add the whole strand into generation two.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/elainehali/7-4.jpg
that's the top view after generation two is done.

Step four: When "generation two" is done move move on to "generation three" and do the same thing over again.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/elainehali/8-4.jpg
Pretty much this is just a pattern and you make as many generations as you need to finish the pattern.

This is a view from the back after the third generation is done.

and finally the same pic from above the finished product.

There's my little style! Also it's helpful to note that you can start with as many generation one sections as you want, but 6 is a good start.

ask me lots of questions!! I need to edit my directions, so they are more clear when I add this as an article.

I found the pictures *very* good, and they illustrated the steps very well. An explanation is hardly even needed, although I had little problems following you. The only place I didn't immediately understand what you meant was when you talked about making the 6 sections. Once I looked at the picture, though, it was very clear how you sectioned them (which direction).

I think the article will be really easy to follow, and the end result is very pretty!

Great style!! Once I saw the finished 'do, the directions all fell into place.

It looks very elaborate (like one of those woven braid hairstyles that require three heads of hair, tons of goop and two other people to achieve) but very workable for one person alone (it's making tiny ponytails and subdividing them at intervals, no braiding or bunning skills required).

Well done. Cheese!! :cheese:

Very well done! It's not new though, there is a tutorial somewhere on that already, but it looks really good!

Elainehali, please don't take the pictures & instructions out of this thread, especially if you don't post an article. They are very helpful in understanding this hair style.:D

This looks like a basketweave pattern.

Thanks for posting. I'd been wondering what to do with my hair for Easter. Maybe I'll try it and work in some flowers and ribbons.;)

Oh, that's a pretty hairdo. May I ask what kind of elastics you used? They must be very tiny ones.

It's not new- I remember girls doing this in middle school; however, we were much messier and harder on our hair. Yours looks beautiful!

WOW. That is so awesome!! :rockerdud I wonder what it'd look like on classic, if one kept going on with the top layer, all the way down the length.......Hmmmm..... :D

The final hairstyle made my jaw drop :D It looks great!

I second the request -- what sort of hair ties did you use for such a small amount of hair?

Holy crap, that's awesome.

And something I could actually wear as a guy and not feel weird (though I'll wear them anyway).

OOOH, CAN YOU CALL IT 'THE NET'?

I managed to find the small, clear hair bands that I think you're using. I do have a question, are they going to snag at all? I can be pretty careful I'm just wondering how careful I need to be.

Oh wow, so pretty! How long did it take you to do?
I'll add this to the list of times I've wished my hair were straight :p

This style looks great on a horse with a long mane :) I've never done it on myself though!
