Hello Everyone :D
Just a quick question. I am not sure what hair length I am?
I think I am past waist? I am not sure if I am tailbone yet?
Where does tailbone length start?:o
Here's a pic of my hair now 7th April 2009 :D (I am very sorry for the size of the pic)

Heres a little chart that should help. It's kinda hard to say because the bulk of your hair stops at right above waist (the thinest part of the torso) You have a few whisps that IMO got to hip length. I never know how to handle not blunt hair.
Hope this helped a bit.

Tailbone is there where the vertical smile ends :p.
For me, roughly guesstimating, it looks like your tips would be around tailbone. It´s hard to guesstimate the exact location of a tailbone though ... :eyebrows: any thong pictures?
(Sorry :o it was just too tempting. I´m kidding of course .)

Your ends are well past waist, and I'd say they're past hip, too.
"Tailbone" as we typically describe it, is the top of your "vertical smile". AKA "butt crack length". Personally, I tend to consider that a high tailbone, while low tailbone would be at about the bottom of your tailbone, and most easily illustrated as the point where your hair touches what you're sitting on, if you're sitting upright with good posture. (When sitting, most people rest their weight on those two little triangles on the bottom of the pelvis, and on the end of the coccyx, so presumably, if you're sitting that way and your hair reaches to the seat, it's about the same length.)

Thank you so very very much. I am still not familiar with all the terms used on the Long Hair Community forums, and this is very helpful indeed!
(If it will co-operate, I'd love to get my hair ankle length)

To me it looks like hiplengt... unless you have a really long bum? :p
I'm sure if you stretch it it'll reach tailbone (or buttcrack like Anje said), but your waves steals a little lenght.
on a totally unrelated note: Your layers/thickness seem to have sped up well to catch up with the ends. In a couple of months you cut off at waist and have an even hemline there.

May I ask a question too? Why the classic length is called classic length?
In thought that the classic length is the one that most women can achieve, something between the back and the waist.. (or something like this ).
Thank you.:)

The tippy tips could be tailbone if pulled straight. I'd say the bulk of it is just above waist. It's hard to know since you have waves that take it up some. That part could be waist length. If it was me I think I'd call it hip length.

The vertical smile doesn't ends though
Or I'm thinking of something else?:confused:
I thought that BCL is the top on the butt crack, and tailbone is the middle of, classic is where the butt ends and connects to the legs.
To the OP, I don't think you're tb yet. But you should try tying a string around your body where your hips are, pull the longest strands and see if it goes past the string. You are definitely past waist though. :)

I'd also vote for tailbone, because it looks as though you're at the top of the "vertical smile" to me too. The longest bits are already past where your hands are resting on your hips, at any rate. Congratulations on your growth! I second that it definitely looks like the rest of your thickness is catching up with your ends! :flower:

marialena- usually classic length is the length it's at when it reaches the crease below your butt, where the thigh joins your body. I think it's called classic, because in times where women didn't cut their hair, thats were it fell. It's also the length of hair in a lot of "classic" style paintings. This is the longest that most women can acheive without great genes or artificial aide

It's also the middle of the body, or divides it nicely by 1.618 which is the divide proportion number in nature... (one of the two..)

I have a curious question: who coined the phrase "bra strap length"? Because that's the bra band that runs around your rib cage. The bra straps go over your shoulders. When someone says "bra strap length" that really seems to be saying shoulder length, because that's the first time your hair reaches bra straps.
