Just thought I would share the style I got done with my hair and the medieval fair this year:

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=306&pictureid=35924

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=306&pictureid=35923

I got a nice compliment from the booth owner too- she wanted to take a picture of my hair for her hair album/website. :p:cheese: And, she kept saying how thick it was.

As a plus of course I got beautiful defined braidwaves:

Oh if anyone is interested -this is who did it:

I'm pretty sure the lady on the first page with the salt and pepper hair is the one who did my hair.

Love it! It's a simple style but very beautiful. Oftentimes the braiders can go too elaborae for my tastes but that is just right.

Oh that is just beautiful - and yes, your hair is lovely and thick and shiny and healthy looking!

Must have taken quite a bit of work to get that style together... (I am very fidgety and find it hard to sit still for so long, honestly, I'm as bad as a four-year-old...).

marajade
April 6th, 2009, 07:18 AM
Very pretty hairstyle! What type of ribbon did you use and how do you make the beginning of it stay in your hair?

She took a very long craft ribbon and folded it in half- near as I can gather she took the end that was looped and wrapped it around one of the sections and braided it in as if it were its own section. I hope that makes sense. :o

Beautiful! How long did you leave it in for? I had my hair braided once and it lasted me a good 5 days :)

I wanted to leave it in for several days but I had two problems:

1) Hairspray- I could already tell it was drying my hair out.

Bigger problem:

2) She used a lot of hair pins/ bobbi pins to achieve the look because my hair is pretty thick and heavy- so I figured out pretty quick it was to uncomfortable to lie down in. So I settled for taking it out that night but I got lots of pics! :)

There were different prices ranging from 10 usd to 40 usd, this style was only 18 dollars- which was a steal considering the ribbon and flowers she put in it! :cheese:

The braid waves are awesome! Your hair looks so thick and shiny too!!
Did they braid your hair dry or did they mist it as they were braiding?

She did it dry and used some kind of gel around the front to help flyaways. On her website, apparently she doesn't like to braid wet.

Just gorgeous!

The braider on the site you mentioned wrote "Braid Your Own Hair (http://www.braidedimage.com/Braided_Image_Hair_Braiding/Instructions.html)" -- a book I ordered last year. It's simple and very clear -- using it was how I learned to do the five-strand braid (in my signature). The only one I think she should add to it is the square four strand braid -- otherwise, this do-it-yourself book has all the basics.

Awesome pictures and beautiful hair! Thank you for sharing!

I have a similar hair color and I love the way the pink looks- now I'm going to have to try out accessories in that shade.

I wish I knew about these styles back in school for dances and such.
