You are on a deserted island and you may only bring 3 haircare items.
What are they? :p

Oh my god! That's a great one!
Coconut oil for sure, my #1 of course. :D:D
Wide satin scarf to protect my hair from the sun and to rest my head on when I'll be sleeping.
And a conditioner, I suppose. Or soapnuts! Probably soapnuts... very multifunctional. :D

April 5th, 2009, 02:57 PM
Ficcare Maximas
Jojoba oil
Komaza Curl Pudding or Flax Seed Hair Gel
(depending on the humidity of the island)
I guess you could just use some kind of twine or something to tie back braids.
This is so fun!

I need a LHC tutor! I did not even think of a scarf for the sun. Rats:cheese:

Good call on the scarf!
Hmm . . . I'd probably bring a wood comb, a scarf, and a Starlite fork.

A resin comb, another resin comb (in case I lost the first one) and.... another resin comb, in case I lost the second. I'm assuming I may be there a long time.
If i didn't have a stick already in (which would be a .0004 percent chance) I'd make my own hairstick once on the island. I'm crafty. Having extra combs would be far more important. I hate the feeling of wind blown tangles. I'm also assuming the island is going to be windy.
hippie girl
April 5th, 2009, 03:28 PM
I keep track of combs pretty well, as in years and years on end. I figure that by the time I have lost all three, I will have had enough time to fashion a fourth one out of available island hardwood and whatever other tools I have also made!

April 5th, 2009, 03:41 PM
A silk scarf, a comb, and a hairfork. I can contrive some sort of hairstick from what's on the island. And coconut milk for conditioning is right there!

Aloe plant so I can plant it and always have aloe, chocolate, and some wine. Who cares what my hair looks like as long as it's moisturized and the wine and chocolate make it more bareable.

April 5th, 2009, 03:59 PM
Hmm... yes. :p
In that case....my wood comb, and a spritzer bottle and a hairstick. If not substitute the spray bottle for coconut oil.

I've got more questions before deciding on my three. How did I arrive on this island? Was it by boat?

Body Shop comb, coconut oil, and conditioner...though some Dairy Whip would be nice.8)

April 5th, 2009, 04:33 PM
Hmmmm. Well if it's a desert island
* a large silk scarf - covers my hair, hold it back, blah blah
* tangle teezer - floats if I drop it!
* water filter - incase there are nasties in the water I can filter it and start doing WO.
I had to struggle to think of three things.
Of course if it's some freezing, windy Scottish island that's another matter...
AJoifulNoise
April 5th, 2009, 04:42 PM
Well, since there are coconuts...
My horn comb, a huge bottle of conditioner, and a some leather cord to tie back my hair.
I'd also like a hammer (to open the coconuts) and a knife (to make hair sticks). Those aren't haircare items, so I'm imagining I can have them, too!
marajade
April 5th, 2009, 04:53 PM
Horn comb, conditioner, and something to tie my hair with, a scrunchie perhaps? I guess if I am on a desert island I can suck it up and stop shampooing. . .

"You are stranded on a dessert island
What a great typo. Stranded on a dessert island - now there's an idea! *floats off in a daydream of a lemon meringue island in a custard sea*
Aloe plant so I can plant it and always have aloe, chocolate, and some wine. Who cares what my hair looks like as long as it's moisturized and the wine and chocolate make it more bareable.
If wine and chocolate can be counted as haircare items, I'm in! (Has anyone tried them? :hmm:)
Seriously, it's actually hard to come up with three things. If there are coconuts on the island, it would be the perfect time to see if soaking in coconut milk is a Good Thing for me. Hairsticks, I can make. Shampoo... if I'm on my own, who's to care if my hair looks greasy? Perfect opportunity to try WO. Sooo....
Bone comb
Sharp scissors
Conditioner, just in case the coconut experiment doesn't work out.
Nevermore
April 5th, 2009, 05:27 PM
Silk scarf, comb (plastic) and my bamboo hair stick or knitting needle. I think my craftiness would be needed for things like making tools and I'd definitely need my hair up for that.

A razor.
Honestly, if I'm going to be stranded on a desert island, the LAST thing I'd need is my hair getting in the way as I try to get the heck off of it. If it became a bother, I'd shave it off completely.
And now that I'm done being a killjoy... xD;
1. Suave Aloe Vera and Waterlily Conditioner (In a nonexistant industrial size they need to eventually make)
2. L.A. Looks Gel
3. Coconut/Olive Oil. Either way.
Also, on thinking about it, I may just forgo this and just use coconut milk if the island has them...but otherwise, razor. xD;

April 5th, 2009, 05:31 PM
I'm going to assume that we have other things other than just hair care items with us. I'll already be wearing my Ficcare so does that count? :p I can make hair ties out of braided grass and I could make a hair stick if I had a knife to whittle with. I'd take EVOO. That would be a multi purpose beauty product and I could also fry fish with it. I'm a good finger comber so I could skip the comb but I'd take my MP BBB. I'd also take a nice moisturizing conditioner for CO. I think I could make do with that and EVOO.
JamieLeigh
April 5th, 2009, 05:36 PM
FRESH (non-salt) water, -coney conditioner (because the extreme heat and sunlight exposure would fry my hair to death without -cone protection!!) and a scarf or hat to protect my hair. :)

Yes, and you could use sand to smooth the hairstick down. :agree: I wanna try it now, and see what sort of stick I could manage to make with just a knife and sand.

Stranded on the same island . . . like a secret LHC paradise? Sounds like a resort, eating coconuts and swapping hair toys and hairstyle tips all day long on a beach.

I would very much like to be stranded on THAT desert island, just now! LOL
I'd like a hammock with a silk covered mini pillow, a wide brimmed hat and a machete.
I am NOT sleeping on the ground and I am NOT going to crisp up the skin on my face or my hair.
With the machette, I could make my fave coconut products and make some hairsticks with little shells and bits of glass.

Jojoba Oil (or Olive, though I can't decide. I use them both for things other than hair as well)
infinite supply of chagrin valley Olive Babassu shampoo, OR Cocoapink Squeaky shampoo
infinite supply of cone free Suave conditioners in my favorite scents.
I was originally going to put Hairstick and Hairbrush for 2 and 3 but I figured, I can just comb my hair out with my fingers, and I can carve my own hairsticks from the trees :)

Laptop computer, power source, internet access of some sort. So I could get to LHC, and call for help, and the mod squad would come to the rescue and arrange to get me off the deserted island!

April 5th, 2009, 08:07 PM
I'm very low maintenance. I would only want:
Coconut Oil
Satin Hair Band (or a Buff)
Wooden Comb
*hair tie*
And if we are talking characters from Lost, I want Kate's hair! :D
ZaBasDa
April 5th, 2009, 08:13 PM
1. The biggest bottle of shampoo ever, preferably one that is extra concentrated so it would last a long time.
2. The biggest bottle of conditioner ever, kind of like the above just hopefully without cones.
3. Probably thousands of elastic hair ties, or similar.
But the laptop computer with internet and a power source would be lovely. Or sever kilos of henna. So I probably don't really want the hair ties as my third item.

Lets see...i think id take some vo5 since that could be used to CO and condition.
But i rather take some AO shampoo/condish

hopefully their would be fresh water..
oh and flowers to decorate my hair with :)

My wooden wide-toothed seamless comb from The Body Shop, a quality metal hair fork (like I have already) and ... oh ... I don't know. That's really all I *need*. Maybe a bandana so that my scalp doesn't get sunburned.

April 6th, 2009, 06:40 AM
* ACV. I think I could start experimenting with making lye from ashes of my campfire and using some fat available to cook my own soap. ACV would be harder to make.
*my wide tooth celluloid comb, since it can be used to comb both dry and damp hair
*A bandana or, if it was a really deserted island, my hideous-looking but otherwise wonderful sunbonnet. I could cut a piece of my clothes to tie my hair with and carve a pair of hairsticks from twigs.

April 6th, 2009, 06:48 AM
Let's see.... How about conditioner, a comb, and a scarf (as much to keep my scalp from sunburning as anything).
I'm also hoping I have a knife that can be used to make a hairstick and because I'd rather have a knife than just about anything else in a deserted place. There's a reason I keep my Leatherman close at hand....

Definitely a scarf to cover up my head, I don't want to get sick from too much sun.
A scrunchie

I answered first and now have read the thread. I'm too lazy to break open those darn coconuts. They are HARD!!!! So I'm keeping my tub of coconut oil, but I might exchange the RO water for a big hat. I'm so used to having nothing but hard, gross water come out of the ground, I didn't think of a nice, clear stream or river on the island!

1. Scissors to S&D with. On a deserted island there is even a chance that I may be able to make a dent in the amount I have.
2. A comb

The funny thing is that the product I would bring is not even stuff I use on a regular basis. I would bring stuff I could multi-task with:

A seamless comb
A hair fork

LOL, My DH said that in no time the island would be deforested of coconuts if that were the case.
I have to say like most
1. wide tooth comb
2. scissors - but I'd probably end up using them for something other than hair, the temptation would be too great.
3. a hat

A chicken, a beehive and yeast  I guess Málaga-yeast would be nice.
:p I assume there are plenty of coconut trees on the island, so I could press my own coconut-oil and would also use the yeast to make coconut vine  ahem I mean coconut vinegar for my shampoo of course. Eggs, honey and something acidic is all I need to wash my hair > so hair happiness for me guaranteed, I guess.

If there are hot pirates then I'm coming!! I will also plan on making said hot pirate wash my hair in the ocean for me (thinking along the lines of Out Of Africa....)
Nice daydream, haha. Hmm, I'm going to need a large brim straw hat like the one I garden in, elastics to tie my hair back with, and has much conditioner as will fit on the raft that got me to the island.
