Does taking pre-natal vitamins make a noticeable difference in your hair quality? I've heard that taking them does wonders for your skin/nails, but I was just wondering if any of you had personal experience with it. I'm guessing it would really only affect the roots and new hair growing in.

No.

Here are a couple of recent threads on this topic.

Prenatal vitamins are intended to replace nutrients lost (by the mother) during pregnancy and breastfeeding. They may contain nutrients that are good for hair and skin, but not in the same quantities as 'hair and skin' vitamins (which I have not found to do much, by the way).

Being pregnant, at least in my experience, has an effect on hair, skin, and nails. The hormones of pregnancy affect their growth as well as how much hair is shedDifferent people experience this differently: I have experienced thicker, lighter, straighter hair, including body hair color changes, and oilier skin at the beginning of pregnancy. Now, in week 42 of pregnancy, my hair is thicker than it has ever been, but is shedding again.

I have taken prenatal vitamins when not pregnant, simply because I was exhausted and run down, and did not notice any difference in hair, skin, or nails.
