I know you will all object to the length, but what about the colour? Is it too blonde?

This was an attempt of an Aprils fools joke  See page 5 for pictures!

March 31st, 2009, 05:15 PM
Why would we object to the length? Are you growing it longer or did you cut it shorter? It looks very sweet anyway. I like the blonde, it suits you and looks natural.

March 31st, 2009, 05:17 PM

Well, it looks great!

I think the color washes you out a bit, maybe have some lowlights woven in? :D

Take a look at her profile ;)

March 31st, 2009, 05:21 PM
For your features I do think it is a little too blond and washes out your skin. With some more lowlights it would be a good shade, but I think it is too platinum for you. Honestly your natural color is a particularly good one for your skin tone. Some of us have natural shades that can be a bit drab with our coloring but that is not the case with yours. If anything I'd recommend you go more into the chestnut spectrum and out of blond, if you were really going for a color change.

March 31st, 2009, 05:23 PM
Wow, it looks super cute on you!! I went and looked at your profile, too...wow! thats a big difference!! You are one of those lucky people who look good with both long and short hair :)

March 31st, 2009, 05:26 PM
Hmmmm..... are you sure that's your natural hair?? Someone on the boards pulled the ole-wiggy-hair trick sometime back.:p

March 31st, 2009, 05:28 PM
:) I lilke the blonde and think you look adorable! You could keep doing your roots and grow out the blonde too, and that would also look fantastic on you!

I always found working in the salon many, many women love to be blonde! It just does something special and it is very pleasing for most!!!! Very fun to do!

March 31st, 2009, 05:29 PM
You need to grow your hair back out so its your natural color. Liked your hair better before the change.:(

March 31st, 2009, 05:30 PM
Oh yeah did you cut?

March 31st, 2009, 05:32 PM
Actually, I think it is a good color on you.

March 31st, 2009, 05:36 PM
You need to grow your hair back out so its your natural color. Liked your hair better before the change.:(

I think she pulled the wig trick on us, to experiment with length and color *without* a giant snip :eyebrows:

March 31st, 2009, 05:38 PM
I'd say it's a bit light, but the cut is really nice. Would you consider weaving in some reddish/copper tones? It's lovely and lovely photos :)

March 31st, 2009, 05:39 PM
Hmm ... in Europe it's already tomorrow  ...

March 31st, 2009, 05:40 PM
Indeed it is!

March 31st, 2009, 05:41 PM
Oh, it may look too light due to the flash---it's really hard to get good color with digital cameras due to the flashes. I find they can really wash them out.

You suit any length!! I'm soooo jealous! :)

March 31st, 2009, 05:41 PM
Maybe I'm in the minority here but, I *love* the color! It looks great on you!

March 31st, 2009, 05:43 PM
Aha! I didn't realize it was tomorrow where she is. Igor, you're a bad, bad, girl! :spank:

March 31st, 2009, 05:46 PM
April Fools?

March 31st, 2009, 05:46 PM
I knew someone was going to do a trick like this :D

March 31st, 2009, 05:48 PM
My first thought was "Yeah." I think I'd like it better if there were a lowlights (blonde ones, but a darker blonde). (Normally I only see monotone hair that thick on wigs.) I like it a lot in pics 2 and 5, but it's definitely on the extreme side of blond!

March 31st, 2009, 05:48 PM
Hmm ... in Europe it's already tomorrow  ...

lol. I was thinking the same thing

March 31st, 2009, 05:50 PM
Wow awesome!! I had always marvelled at your growing it out from a shaven head, and now you're back to short :D I think it looks great, especially in the pics where you are wearing a headband.

March 31st, 2009, 05:51 PM
I don't believe you cut it! You are a master at disguising long into short!...Fun look though!

March 31st, 2009, 05:53 PM
It's April Fools already? Go figure!

March 31st, 2009, 05:54 PM
Pretty funny, Igor!

March 31st, 2009, 06:00 PM
Sweet! http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d91/simply_longhair/LaughHard.gif:cool:

March 31st, 2009, 06:02 PM
Why would we object to the length? Are you growing it longer or did you cut it shorter? It looks very sweet anyway. I like the blonde, it suits you and looks natural. I take it you havent met the wonderful hair belonging to the lovely Igor;) she is april fooling us!! shame on you Igor:D

March 31st, 2009, 06:03 PM
well, since it's a certain date here I think this is a joke. If not, yeah, maybe a bit too light.

March 31st, 2009, 06:04 PM
Now I want to know, how on earth did you get your super thick, long hair into that wig?

Can we have some proper length ones now? pretty please!

March 31st, 2009, 06:06 PM
I like the color. It's kind of buttery. :)

March 31st, 2009, 06:09 PM
Another here who thinks it's an April Fool's joke... and a good one!

March 31st, 2009, 06:13 PM
i like the colour yes but im am absolutly sure that is a wig. I cant see it from the roots.. so... anyway, i love your long hair and your natural colour by the way :) but the wig suits you !!! anyway this is funny :P i hope to have long hair someday to be ablo to fool some of you also

March 31st, 2009, 06:13 PM
I wonder too about how her hair got under the wig...I think its cute and would like a wig like that too for fun...where did you get it?

March 31st, 2009, 06:15 PM
Igor....well, I think it's a little too blonde - too white or something. Just too stark looking for your coloring.

How the heck did you stuff all your hair up under there? You are very, very naughty!

March 31st, 2009, 07:07 PM
So now I can say what I thought? It doesn't hang "naturally," as it sort of sticks out, not like you normally find with natural hair. But I thought if I said that and it turned out NOT to be a wig, would I be only slightly embarrassed and have to disappear and not be heard from again.

Glad it turned out okay! (I didn't think the pale blonde was so bad, btw....)

March 31st, 2009, 07:11 PM
Igor reminds me of an actress, but I can't remember the name of her! It's driving me crazy. :)

March 31st, 2009, 07:12 PM
Sarah Polley?

March 31st, 2009, 07:35 PM
Honestly... the hair you have now suits you perfectly, you are gifted.

Beatnik Guy
March 31st, 2009, 07:40 PM
No, I don't like your new wig, Igor.

March 31st, 2009, 07:55 PM
Too blonde for what exactly?

March 31st, 2009, 07:57 PM
The first picture made me think, "Hey, Igor is secretly Uma Thurman! Cool~!"

Though the color is a wee bit pale on you, it looks nice nonetheless.

You must share your wig wearing tricks!

March 31st, 2009, 08:10 PM
Ooh a wig. That's so awensome. I'd like to have some too for those days I feel like a change but are too chicken for it.
You MUST tell us how you got all your hair under there

March 31st, 2009, 08:14 PM
I think the wig is just a smidge too light for you, though it's definitely fun. It does look a bit like a blond version of Stephanie from Lazytown, though.

As others have said, props for getting all that hair under that thing.

March 31st, 2009, 08:14 PM
I think she looks like Tilda Swinton in these pictures.

March 31st, 2009, 09:25 PM
A little bit like Sarah Polly and Uma Thurman, but there's another actress in my head whose name has escaped me. Meh, some day I'll remember ;)

March 31st, 2009, 09:29 PM
April’s fools indeed! :eyebrows:

Aw, you could have let me have my fun for a little longer! *pouts*

I knew you would ask so I took pictures along the way

The wig on the webshop where I ordered it

3 braids…

Wrapped up like this and secured with lots of bobby pins (Forgot to take a picture then so this is re-used)

With two ”wig caps” pulled over (I figured one wouldn’t be enough and I was right)

The wig was a little thin in the back (Well, not a big surprise for the 90 kr/12 Euro/17 USD I paid for it) so I stitched some rows of fake hair into it myself. I would probably have done this anyways even if it hadn’t been thin, just to get some different nuances in it. Actually it was surprisingly easy to sew the rows on

Frank, my anatomical model pokes his bald head in!

Added two pieces of red hair in the back
This is the only thing I regret- I should have put them a row or two higher so the red would show through the top layers more
And no, I don’t know why the bottom layers are so short. Doesn’t make much sense to make them so short when the rest is long

A look from the underside, showing the structure and different colours. The original wig is an even platinum blonde shade and I added the two red pieces and some honey blonde rows

Finished result from adding more hair, front. The darker rows I added shows through mostly in the top

March 31st, 2009, 09:29 PM
Finished result from adding more hair, back. You can see the longer red pieces poking out under the blonde

First attempt at putting the altered wig on. Liking the result so far!

First attempt at putting the altered wig on, back view. Not liking that the front length is so much longer than the back

Cutting some of the length, especially in the front parts

Making a blunt cut. The wig has a slight bump on the top where its rows are starting

Second check. Liking the length better

Second check, front view. Bangs are too long still

More delicate trimming of length and bangs. Using two different methods to cut bangs:
Blunt cutting strands that falls close together and “shearing” (?) strands by running the scissor up and down them to make them taper
The result has a certain messy “rock ‘n roll” feel to it that I like

Taking a little more of the front

Third check. Liking the overall length now, just need to adjust the bangs. Doing the last bang-adjustment in front of the mirror: Grabbing the strands that are too long, pushing the short ones back and cutting the ones that are too long

March 31st, 2009, 09:31 PM
Satisfied with the bangs now. The longest almost goes into my eyes. No product added yet

Using Bumble&Bumble styling cream to mess the bangs up a little and gain some more hold. I like the result! Trying with a headband to see how that works. Also good!

Likes the headband and wig-combination very much! I think I have found a summer favourite
No sunburned scalp and a cute summer-cut with blonde hair

Trying with a hat on as well. This is much cuter in real life

I wore the wig with a headband home to my parents for mom’s birthday and she fell for it! She looked like a mix between  and
After the first shock she decided she actually liked it and asked if maybe I could make one for her too!

Me with my brother and nephews. I tell everyone were posing for an Aprils fools picture

Oldest nephew feels sticking out his tongue would fit perfectly

…And I tend to agree

Aprils fool! :beercheer:

March 31st, 2009, 09:33 PM
Well to tell you the truth you had me fooled at first but when I saw your profile i thought NO WAY lol.

Its really cute though. I used to have blond hair shorter then my shoulder with bangs...I think I will get a wig if I ever have the urge to cut. It looks cute on you.

March 31st, 2009, 09:33 PM
I like it!! You're hair looks THICK!!:cheese:

March 31st, 2009, 09:40 PM
You still have me scared because your current length says 42,9 :o What happened there?

March 31st, 2009, 09:47 PM
I enjoyed that...both the joke and your detailed photo description of what it entailed. One thing I need to know...in one of the first pictures, there is a red bird in the window, what is that thing???

March 31st, 2009, 09:54 PM
WOW - that is some elaborate preparation Igor! Nice job - great wig alteration photos too. I did gasp when I saw your OP.

March 31st, 2009, 09:58 PM
:hifive: Very nicely done!!!!!!! You did such a great job fixing the wig to be just right, the cut and bangs turned out so cute!

I love the picture of you with the hat, that is adorable!

That is a cool idea for summer to keep your hair protected and have a cute blonde look!

I love it!

Nice April fools!!!!!:D

March 31st, 2009, 10:01 PM
What fun! Is that a synthetic or human hair wig? I would love to have a wig to play with :D

You had ME fooled.

March 31st, 2009, 10:07 PM
Haha nice one, sly one!

March 31st, 2009, 10:08 PM
I’m still a little disappointed you caught me so fast! Well at least I could make it into a useful Aprils fool and maybe inspire those who are interested in a wig too

But to answer some questions…
I’m thinking about making a red wig in sort of the same style as this one… Maybe just a little longer hair then this one
If I was going short, I would actually go for something similar to the wig, maybe more of a strawberry blonde with highlights and lowlights though

Anje: I also think I look like a blond version of Stephanie from Lazytown!

Elphie: It’s because the way we are facing is the dining room with several very large windows and the birds outside always think they can fly through the house going from the kitchen and through the dining room. It must be something with the light or trees outside
So my parents had to put that red bird silhouette up to scare the little birds off to keep them from knocking themselves out (or worse) against the window

Manderly: Synthetic! It was one of my requirements for the wig. Didn’t want to risk running around with someone’s donation for a cancer fund (or something similar) on my head :scared:

March 31st, 2009, 10:20 PM
Haha, very clever!

You still have me scared because your current length says 42,9 :o What happened there?
In Europe, commas are used instead of decimal places. So 49.2" = 49,2.

April 1st, 2009, 06:54 AM
That seemed a lot of work. :) Wasn't it hot with that wig? I would start to itch in minutes with a wig on.

April 1st, 2009, 07:08 AM
i really thought the thread said 'onions please', and i thought it would be something about onions and hair growth, which actually i think i have read some where, but anyway back to the proper thread....i think the colour looks great. you suit being a blondie!

April 1st, 2009, 07:58 AM
Haha, funny! :D

April 1st, 2009, 08:06 AM
The wig reminded me of Deborah Harry (Blondie). :D

I like your natural hair color and length. :)

April 1st, 2009, 08:20 AM
I enjoyed reading the responses from those that didn't notice is was a wig rofl. Good one Igor and what a fun April Fool joke. I think you did a great job and knowing how much hair you have amazed me with seeing how you got it all in that little wig heh.

Lovely family as well.

April 1st, 2009, 08:33 AM
I'm amused by how many people fell for it, I knew it was a wig straight away. ^.^ But it looks really freakin cute on you, Igor.

April 1st, 2009, 09:32 AM
Great job! You certainly have me inspired to try a wig in place of a summer hat! Though I imagine it might get uncomfortable if the weather is too hot.

April 1st, 2009, 09:37 AM
I knew, but went a long with it because we need more people like Igor to keep us smiling! Great one Igor. Glad to see people still enjoy making others smile :D :D

Igor, you can go with any length! I'm soo jealous--you have such a lovely face and elegant long neck.

April 1st, 2009, 10:10 AM
Awww, I hate coming in AFTER a joke lol. That was a pretty good one though, the photos in the OP look pretty convincing! :p

*glad you didn't cut, btw...;)*

April 1st, 2009, 01:45 PM
UHHHH< I don't get it?? Was this an April Fools Joke? If so HA HA HA!!
love Rosepatrice

April 1st, 2009, 03:20 PM
Igor, you are so creative! When I saw the original post I thought it was a cute style- although I about freaked regarding the length.

When I saw your later posts explaining your process of fitting the wig, and then sewing in other layers, I am totally impressed by your level of creativity and vision.. lol even for a joke. If I had the same thing, I don't think I would have had the patience or the visual ability to see what I'd want the finished product to look like. :) Well done!

:flower: joyful

April 1st, 2009, 04:30 PM
UHHHH< I don't get it?? Was this an April Fools Joke? If so HA HA HA!!
love Rosepatrice

The joke was that she wanted us to believe she cut her hair. If you look at her profile or articles she's written, you'll see she has incredibly long hair, which she grew out from a buzzcut. The fool was it was just a wig.

April 1st, 2009, 04:39 PM
Maybe I'm too cynical beacuse I knew it was a wig straight away.

But wow! Look at the work that went in! Your poor mum seeing the difference. I think it looks more convincing with the beanie on, as the only give away was the massive volume and thickness at the back.
