All these years, all these hairstyles, and I could never French Braid. So, after my sister did Cricket's hair a few weeks ago, and after seeing how cute they are on her, I resigned myself to learning.

Here's attempt number one. Well, it was redid a few times, but it was the first attempt that I thought was good enough to leave the house.

I'm going to try two braids today.

The first one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6M7WzzYPWI)is good.

I'm surprised long-haired people can't do this yet.
I was Dutch braiding almost 30 years ago. :D

Great for you, but I have ten thumbs and no coordination when it comes to that sort of thing :( It's not the French braiding technique in itself that's the big problem (although I massively fail at that, too, and usually have to redo it several times on others), it's doing it on myself that's the huge stumbling block. I have some hope that I'll one day find the perfect YouTube vid to make it click :o

That "first one" is exactly the one I used. :D And the shine on her hair is pure coconut oil. There was a lice scare at her afterschool program a week or so ago, so I've been paranoid about keeping her hair oiled and contained.

Wow! You did such a great job, Tapioca! =O

I never learned braiding at all until...oh, I'd say about 3 years ago. My hair had just started getting 'long', so a few friends resigned to teaching me. xD I'm still not very good, and have never tried braiding my own hair, but I'd love to learn French braids. =o I don't know why, it would just be a neat thing to learn. One day, I could surprise everyone with my braiding skills 8)
