Does anybody know a place that sells netted hair-nets?

What I mean are hair-nets that fulfill the same function and have a similar size and shape to crotched snoods, but have beein created using a different technique, namely netting - the same as for making fishing nets. For a very basic model of such a netted hair-net look here (http://www.historiavivens1300.at/realien/haarnetz.htm).

I have found a number of instructions (http://www.silkewerk.com/hairnet_left.htm) on how to make such nets on the internet, but nobody who offers them ready made. I'd really like to by one rather than attempt my luck at making on since I just don't have great confidence in my crafts skills (I never got any farther than crotcheting pot holders ...).

Any tips?

If you scroll down to almost of the end of this page, http://plainlydressed.bravepages.com/headcoveringfile.html, they have hairnets. Unfortunately there's no picture. I'm guessing they're probably about what you're looking for, if not exactly, but you could always email and ask for a picture, or send that link that you posted and ask if they are about like that hairnet.

Thank you very much for pointing that out to me, BlndeInDisguise. Unfortunately those in all likelyhood are not the kind of hair-nets I am after. It's not the practically invisible granny-hair-nets made from nylon that I'm looking for, but rather something that you might see in a historical movie dating back to, say, the 18th or 19th century (though I have by now found out that they have been around for much longer). I think I remember that Romy Schneider playing the Austrain Emperess Elisabeth in the "Sissy" movies was wearing the kind of hair-net that I'm thinking of, a very elegant hair-net, netted from a silk, linen or cotton thread, at times adorned with pearls to contain the Emperesses famous long tresses, especially if she's out riding a horse.

Renaissance Faires are a good source for those. But honesty, if you can crochet potholders, snoods aren't anymore difficult. I would recommend that you use a hair band (one of those that goes all the way around your head) to hold it though, instead of lacing a ribbon or crochet chain through (less pulling on the hair).

Lady MacSnood has a lot of different options. Are any of these (http://www.snoods.com/) more similar to what you're seeking?

Maybe they are, you could very well be right, but often in Amish stores they sell what you're looking for. Big, heavy duty things that I wear all the time. That I got from Amish stores and stores around Amish communities. They are definitely not the almost-invisible ones. :)

Anyway, I hope you can find what you're looking for!
