Huh, I seem to have long hair. This is all rather new to me, as I've had short hair for my entire life. I once got to just past shoulder length, and then made the bad mistake of combining a bad mood with a pair of kitchen scissors. So, after a decade of having a short, sharp bob--with my last real cut in the autumn of 2005--I've just hit waist length.
(oh, and this was me in 2005, a couple of months after the last bob: http://www.flickr.com/photos/heyoka/54332806 )
I've been reading LHC on and off for a while, every time I needed advice, and wanted to thank all those who have shared tips and wisdom. It's probably thanks to all of you that I've managed to go 18 months since my last trim and not have any split ends. It's all looking a bit wispy and flyaway today, as it's freshly washed and I am NOT getting on well my my new conditioner (if any UKers can recommed a very moisture-rich, non-bankrupting one, I'd be grateful, as my poor mop has to be washed 4 times a week because I swim.)
if you'll forgive some bad pictures, here's the hair. The colour isn't quite as it looks here. In real life it's a mixture of black and copper, and, increasingly, silver strands. The bun picture is probably most accurate on colour. It's INSANELY fine, but I seem to have lots of it, and it's remarkably strong (I survived three years of repeatedly bleaching this down to almost white so I could make it bright violet purple, and it didn't suffer much) though I've never really used heat on it. The wave/dent is from having it up when it was damp, otherwise it's dead straight.

I can call that waist, right?

So, aiming for tailbone, and a good blunt hemline that doesn't go all sticky-outy as it does right now. I had an inadvertent severe-U cut last time, when I asked for a few face framing bits, and was "reshaped". Argh!
And again, thanks for sharing all the knowledge.
