Thanks :) . The hold would be better if the coils were larger. It functions more like a plain stick rather than an actual spiral, but not bad for my first attempt. For someone with grabbier hair, it would work phenominally, but for my slippy fainty hair, the hold is just ok. I was able to redo the bun when I got home and it held better so there is also a bit of a learning curve for me as well not just on the production end, but the end user as well.

This is one of my older TT's and a real favorite of mine. I purchased it during the white holly wood drought. I was lucky he still had very nice light pieces of the spalted holly left. After that, the ones available were darker and the grain was more pronounced, which did not produce the same contrast in colors.

Thank you so much, that means a lot to me. :flower: When I picked the combo, the stick wasn’t in my hair, so there was a second blue patch that matched, haha but it’s right in the middle so my hair ultimately covered it up. I’m glad the blue of the tip still tied it together!

In contrast and just fyi, I have Lilla Rose U-Pins about the same length, but because the topper are heavy, they just keep slipping right out. Well that, and my hair is super slippy to begin with, but the Bijoux Manoel ones stay in place all day even when hair is at its faintyist. Now keep in mind, these do not function as a regular U-Pins, but more like a french twist comb that the prongs are thicker and they need to run closer along the scalp to brace themselves. Hope this helps ;)

Good to know about the Lilla Rose U-Pins. I’ve been wiggling back and forth between purchasing some of the flexis or U-pins. I think I’ll be sticking to the flexis!

Milady - thank you! and I am glad you found the comparison useful. I hope you are enjoying your metal hair fork. Depending on the style of the fork itself and properties of your hair they can be wonderful workhorses or an exercise in patience trying to get them to work. I have both types...lol

bparnell - It really is a shame. They have such pretty U-Pin styles and even the ones I got, I really like, but was only able to wear them for about 20 minutes before one fell right out :(

Ha! I love the image of your hair forcibly ejecting the sticks. Mine does that to ovals unless I get them wedged in perfectly (or secured with a flexi).

Awww thank you :flower: I divided the top into two sections and twisted them over each other a couple times. It’s because I hate having the front lay totally flat, and that gives it a bit of lift. But I’m so happy it works from the back too!

It depends on the piece. Most of the carved out ones (animals and other designs) with the large toppers are very lightweight. The maple ones are a bit heftier, but I have not weighed them per se. If you have issues with heavy hairtoys, you might want to mention that to her so maybe she can alter the design to take away some of the density and make it work for you.

I also love it because it was purchased when I wasn't so heavily into hairtoys (during my years of long hair hiatus when my youngest was born) and gifted to me by a lovely person in this Community during one of our seasonal swaps. The shop is no longer around, but the fork is still being loved very much!

i don't participate on here as much as i used to but i always lurk this thread! :p So throwing myself back into this with a flexi round...i haven't been wearing them at all these days and i hadn't realized how well they're currently working for me. Of course i never finish my WEO rounds, so we'll see how far i get. I think i dropped out of my Ficcare round with only 2 clips left? :rolling: I'm not officially up for the day so i don't have today's picture yet, but here's the past two days. All flexis are size XL, the Megas are too big for my head size. Somewhere there's a picture of me wearing a Mega as a pair of glasses and they're bigger than my face, i don't want that on the back of my head! Sometimes i have a little trouble getting flexi sticks through my hair but if i finagle them just right they hold all day. I think the main reason i like flexis is 'cause back when i was a teenager in the mid 90's, bun cages came into style for a season or two. And guess who never found a bun cage they could fit their hair into back then, even at shorter lengths. :sad LOL, making up for the deprivations of my youth with flexis!

i didn't get a chance to take yesterday's picture, i was tied up in appointments all day. So here's the dramatic reenactment...Flexi 3 is Jelly Sandal From the 80's (i have no idea what the actual name is, but that's what i think of it as)! I almost put this one up for sale, but then i decided i liked it after i saw the picture i'd taken of it. Not sure why it worked that way!

It depends on the toy. Usually totally smooth ones will slip out for me but since this one has that crossover action, it locks in place and stays in. Metal with texture is great for me.

Ha, I probably shouldn’t have been surprised given the name! But it’s a color I didn't have, and I like how it pairs with my hair so it was a very happy accident.
