Here's (http://archive.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=40856) the archived link for you. Now, remember to post a picture.

Oooh I just did it and it's way more comfortable than a regular cinnamon bun. Some one else had recommended it to me but I didn't understand it before. Thanks for the link Raederle! It looks like a crooked figure 8 on me, but actually is staying. You have no idea how happy this makes me.

Thank you for sharing the link Raederle and thanks to Hypnotica for asking the question! I've been really wondering about this bun and couldn't find instructions anywhere.

There's also what we agreed was the "Orchid wrap" on TBB a few months ago. Link to the thread. (http://chatter.thebeautybottle.com/showthread.php?t=1325)

Thanks for posting the link - my BSL curls aren't long enough for the infinity or a figure 8, but they're just barely perfect for an orchid bun!

Oh so that's called an orchid bun? I've been doing that for ages and called it a shortcut figure-8, because you don't need to twist as much and don't need as much length to make this bun. :D I like to put a Ficcare over it.

Well, I'm glad the link was helpful. This is one style that looks different every time I try it.

That looks great joyinc!

I do a version of the orchid wrap (http://pics.livejournal.com/nulomiel/pic/000sb0w6/g33), but I actually don't know what it, or an orchid bun, are supposed to look like!
There seem to be so many different results. :D

Okay, I'm resurrecting this thread cause I just went and did a search for it, and have just attained my first-ever orchid bun -- wheee! :cheese:

I thought I'd add a little tip for us slightly shorter-haired gals: I'm just past BSL (25"), and when I tried to pierce the outer coil of the bun on "hairstick exit," the whole thing fell apart -- too much taper (my outer coil is always sort of more like an "outer bump"). But if you pierce the inner coil again, and kind of spread it a bit as with a Gibraltar bun, it holds the outer coil in place and then you can tuck any strays under.

I love this bun!
