One year progress update...:cake:

Hope for those with "chin length"/soccer mom hair. :)

I chopped off my layers in the back last year and went from APL to chin. I'm now approaching APL again.

Last year (end of 2/08) : chopped off the layers in the back
This year (early 3/09, this morning): no trims. Hair a little wavier. And a little bluer? ;). First 2 pics are of wet hair. Last pic is dry. Last year

This represents my natural color. Note the lamp light is on in the background.

This year

No trims.

It's funny how the camera picks up "blue".

Note the pale pink hat in the backround, green in the necklace and background, etc. Other colors look "normal".

That blue is a certain indirect soft sunlight that is captured weirdly on camera. I get it too, it just doesn't look as effective on my brown hair.
Congrats on the progress!

I remember you posting earlier that your hair was looking blue. Now it looks really blue. Very very awesome.

Any chance you have copper in your water?

Gorgeous color!!! Is the blue natural or due to the lighting? It's incredible!

Congrats on the progress!

Hi all,

I think the blue comes from what Heidi said above - and perhaps shine in my hair.

The blue doesn't show up all the time in the pics.

I don't add anything to my hair to color it - it just comes out that way in pics (so far, after times I wash it).

Anje, I'll get back to your question soon. :)

Beautiful color! Does it look blue like that in person, or is it just picked up on film?

Congratulations on your progress - your hair looks gorgeous, healthy, and seems to be growing like a weed!

Thanks, MyFireElf. Looks like you're getting some great growth as well. :)

The blue doesn't show up in person - just in the digital pictures.

Hmm, I'm kind of reminded about Kirlian Photography (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirlian_photography) but this is just a regular camera.

I believe copper turns hair green but I could be wrong.

beautiful hair and the blue is a neat trick!

You've come a long way, hope to see even more lovely growth. :cheese:

I have extensions in that are that color blue, there's something really neat about it.

Excellent growth. And chiming in with everyone else, the blue is phenomenal. One of my grandmothers had blue-black hair and I have coveted it all my life. She was a stunner.

Wow, what beautiful growth...and I love how blue it looks in pics. Truly stunning proof of what a difference a year of leaving it alone can make! :D Congratulations on the growth, and thank you for sharing your pics! :flower:

Thanks JamieLeigh,

I was almost tempted to trim the bottom 1-inch since it still has a little henna from a while ago; but, after reading other people's experiences, I decided to hold off since I don't have damage.

I'm glad I held off because now I can put my hair back easier and my bangs can better reach the back for the updo styles.

I believe copper turns hair green but I could be wrong.

Hi Anje, what a great question. I like those scientific-type questions (in general) :). Well, after doing a little search on the Internet, there's a minimal amount of copper in the water in my area it looks like.

I also found out the water is soft water (according to some sources). But I'm not sure about that as my hair feels a little stiff after a shower and then ACV significantly softens my hair...

I use an inexpensive shower filter, but am not sure how much it really filters out as it's a kind of cheap one.

But now I'm thinking what else is in my hair...

Addy, good point about copper & green (I'm not sure either). Either way, I wonder what minerals could be "reflecting" on my hair. :)
