Small bends?

Was doing a S&D yesterday, spent about an hour on my hair. Not really finding much spits, but seem to find small bends in my hair that if I smooth my fingers over it almost feels like a knot. I hope I'm describing this well. Anyways...what are those and what can I do to prevent them. I have been snipping them above the bended part.

I get those when my hair is knotting, and it seems like the hair is permanently kinked after you get the little tangle out. It also seems to happen more when my ends are getting dried out. Moisture helps a lot, but I also tend to snip the badly kinked hairs, since they tend to breed more knots.

I get the same thing. I have no idea what causes them but think it's probably to do with the dry ends/kinks that Anje mentioned. Like you, when I find them I trim them off just above the bend.
