View Full Version : Updo that begins with two ponytails?

A friend of mine was telling me about an updo she used to do before she cut her hair. She said her hair was about my length, and she used to put into two high ponytails, close together in the back. Then she would tie the tails together and wrap the ends around. She said it looked quite complicated and earned quite a few compliments, but was very easy to do.

Is anyone familiar with this style? Are there any photos floating around out there so I can see what it looks like? I tried it on my hair and failed miserably ....

It hurt me to watch the lady "back-combing" the hair she pulled up right at first. (Is that what she called it? We used to call it "teasing") The style looks really nice, though...although I didn't really like all of the steps she took to create it.

I don't think the back-combing/teasing is even necessary but the style is nice and could be done quickly for a more casual look.

I like it. :)

Really nice, it looked beautiful, but wow, that back-combing topped with the hair spray looked pretty nasty. I'd skip that, I don't rinse my hair everyday and when that hair do comes down it's going to be gross to touch because of the sticky tangles, not to mention brush out :S

Ah, I found it. It's called a 'dual knot ponytail'. Here are narrative instructions for how to do it: http://css.answerbag.com/articles/How-to-Make-a-DualKnot-Ponytail/8e3cd6e4-c572-f10f-062f-4ead6dd58f8c

And here is a video that shows it - she shows two hairstyles and the dual knot is the second one she demonstrates in the video.
