Or did I invent something cool? :)
Style instructions:
Make a ponytail and fix with thin elastic at the right height where you would normally make a bun.
Split the hair close to the scalp, behind the elastic, as if you were separating the hair for a Gibson tuck.
Tuck the ponytail through the gap so it hangs down. You should feel a 'roll' of hair on either side of the elastic if you touch your hair.
Hold the ponytail firmly in your main hand above the elastic; with your off hand gently pull the elastic down the ponytail and discard it.
Twist the ponytail in on itself until you make the first loop of a bun. I make this loop up like the top part of an 8. I usually put one finger here to hold the loop in place while I make the lower loop.
Make the lower loop of an 8 by bringing the twisted ponytail across and then winding it around your fingers into the correct shape.
Your hair should now form a figure 8 shape bun vertically with the 'rolls' of hair you made from the earlier flipped pony coming out horizontally on each side.
Tuck the ends in wherever is comfortable. For my length of hair, my ends tuck in behind the upper loop and down the back of the bun.
Fix using a hair fork vertically. I havent tried a horizontal fork or clip yet. A Ficcare maximas might work.
I guess it is like a cross between a topsy tailed ponytail and a figure 8?
Anyway, it is supremely comfortable and looks awesome, especially when held with a contrasting 4-pronged fork, and it gives the illusion of loads of hair (for me anyway!)
Do I get to name a bun after me or has this been done before? :cheese:
