i am in dire need of a trim, as i cannot handle my layers further up the hair length, they are starting to taper more than the ends of my hair...i was thinking perhaps it may be a good idea for those in need of a trim could perhaps find fellow long hair community members in the same area and perhaps they could trim each others hair for them, thus knowing about the general hatred for those hairdressers who cut off more than an inch...and know how important length is for those who are on the quest for long hair. I tried doing the self trim again but its very hard without one mirror in front and behind you. It would also provide an opportunity to meet new people and friends. Perhaps giving full information of which members people will be meeting and exactly where and when, and notify the community of their safe return and experience. My hair is so frustrating me recently even though i have it in a bun everyday. I just want my hair to be all one length, but then the layers just keep travelling up and up. Just a possible thought anyway. I am currently in Sydney australia, and i don't think they have any salons like the george michael salon which caters especially to achieving long hair. Has anyone got a fellow LHC member to trim their hair? How did it turn out? :)

That sounds like a neat idea for those of us who can find a fellow long hair in our same area.
Unfortunately for me I don't think long hair is very popular where I live, so I may not be able to find anyone one around here to buddy up with:( Good luck to you though.

There's surely somebody not too far from you. You're in Missouri. I'm in EXTREME EASTERN kansas. Not far from the missouri border.:cheese:

I get my DH to trim my hair. As he loves my hair long he never cuts too much off. If there are no LHC people in your area you could ask a friend or family member to trim for you. Before I got married I lived in a share house and used to trim my housemates hair for her. I don't live in Sydney or I’d offer to trim yours for you. Good luck finding someone.

I knew lots of longhairs when I lived in that area of the country, granted I lived in AR not MO, but still I think that many are in that area, they might not be on the boards though! LOL But it does sound like a nice idea, but one that I would want to really know the person that I was talking to before even suggesting such a thing! I mean there are some that really "dig" long hair, so I would be careful about that!

This would probably be a good thing to have on the community meets board.
I've often thought about an idea like this. When I was first starting cosmetology school I was also just starting to be on long hair forums and I did do a few trims for some of the members of a yahoo group I ran back then.
In some cases they came to my house and in others I went to theirs. I still haven't thought of a good place for doing trims in a public place. You never know who might complain about the hair getting on something or making a mess even if it was outdoors in a park. Maybe I just overthink things though.
But this might be better on the meets board for safety reasons. I am willing to still do trims for people who are near enough to Detroit, MI. But at the moment I don't have a reliable enough car to travel far. So as long as its not a matter of me traveling more than 20 miles. Also even though I'm only a short distance from Ontario I don't like crossing the border.
Note: I do not have a cosmetology license. I only did 800 of the 1500 hours of school.
Also note: I don't do complicated cuts. If you want a trim that's what you'll get. And there will only be dust on the ground unless you specify more.
I do not charge money. Tipping is ok but I'd never ask for it.
I'd prefer to continue any discussions of me doing this on the meets board or some other private means such as PM. You never know who is reading this. Some creepy guy might see you responding to me and think he can contact you and fulfill some fantasy or something. :crazyq:

Funny you should say that. The first person I ever met from online lived just over the border in Ontario. We would greet each other by saying "Goes to the window and waves to Peacherose / PurpleBubba" kinda like Rocky. Or we'd tell each other what the weather was.
I started using ~~~~~~~~~~~~ for my waves.
She passed away soon after so I use ~~~~~~~~~ in rememberance.
I've used it in my signatures and such. At the moment I can only fit the singles.
So they are my Peacherose waves.
ETA: ~~~~~~~Waves~~~~~~~ back to you :)

This won't work for everyone- my husband thinks I should have shorter hair. My ex boyfriend thinks he is insane. My current boyfriend thinks I should wear my hair down more, and hubby is working on convincing him that if I cut it shorter I will.

This is a good point- there are some guys that lurk here that have a haircut fixation. They'd like nothing more than to get close to an unsuspecting long hair with a pair of scissors. Keep that in mind if you do meet up with someone!

Wow. That is confusing. I think from what I can understand that your ex boyfriend is probably the best person to ask for help when it comes to trimming your hair. Or have I got that mixed up somewhere along the line. :cheese:

I admit to being confused too! Do I understand that you have an ex bf, a current husband and a current bf? And your current husband is trying to convince your BF of something? He must be very open minded or there is an aspect that I don't understand here. Hopefully it all works for you though.
