I am now at the length where it is just past awkward, but I still can't do a darn thing with it

I have so many gorgeous hairtoys, and I can't wear any of them! Is anyone else feeling this frustration? I can manage a messy peacock with a flexi, and sometimes a sock bun but that's about it. Sometime I stick something through my sockbun, but I feel like that is cheating both hairwise and the toy  I'm really getting bored with ponytails, and twin french braids don't look good on me. What are some ways you can cope with keeping it out of the way while you inch towards your first bun?

I kinda can relate it' not that my hairs not long- it's i can get the hang of using the toys so i stick to basic boring things.
i'm guessin you about shoulder length or past??
~i like getting a bunch of little claw clips and doing funky twist like tiny buns all over
~ zig zag parts give a style a new look
~ old favorite- bandana!

I say if you want to stick something through a sock bun then go for it :)

It's not cheating the toy at all.... The toy is probably darned proud to be up there in that lovely hair of yours for the world to see :D

Multiple ponytails down the back, 2 or more, one below the other in a row, like a mohawk, or braids done the same. Or some other arrangement. Small buns grouped to look like one big intricate bun.

Well, the advantage to having fine thin hair, is I could get it up when it was really short! (Not that it's that long now!) I did and still do a lot of half ups, and peacock twists, and am still trying to learn french twists (I am up do impaired). What about a single french braid? Or two pigtails?

Thanks for the tips! Those sound like some good ideas to try. I'm just barely at shoulder length now but hopefully I'll be able to manage a bun soon :)

I wish I were that skilled, french twists never seem to work for me :o

What about this: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=104 or a variation of this: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=111 ? Both would work for your length. A gibson tuck might work or just rolling both sides, then folding the ends under and using a large french barrette over it. That would look a bit like the gibson. There's this: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=63 which is adorable and would let you use your sticks.
