View Full Version : Same old, same old hair toys...

Just curious. Are there many on board like myself who may have
dozens, tens of dozens, hundreds of hair toys, yet you find yourself
going back to the same old standard day-to-day items?

No matter what I buy, I cannot for the life of me, find any hair claws
that are as spectacular as the same claws I wear on a daily basis.
They don't hurt, they stay in well, they are smooth, don't cut my hair,
blah blah blah.

But they are in dull brown. No colors.

Today I bought two more sets of them, and while they are cheap
looking and dull, they work better than any claws I've ever purchased.
They likely are not that great to others, but seem to have been made
just for my hair. Even when my hair was much longer, a bee butt or
a figure eight plus change (LOL) rolled up and was clipped on both
sides with the same old clips. Perfect. Every time.

Just for mention's sake, they are Goody brand, bar code:
41457 82767. There is another number above the bar code
of 182764700. The front of the card reads 82767 in the upper right
hand corner. Problem is, they are now finding their way down the
shelf, which means they will soon be gone. Pout!

But why, why, why can't they make these in different colors? Why
can't they be pretty as well as functional? I have so many beautiful
claws, but they are either too big or too little. These claws are JUST
right no matter my length. :cheese:

I suppose I could paint them, use adhesive and dress them up with
stones and such, ribbon, whatever, not too dorky looking, but something
a bit more professional. Classy. Mature. Not childish. Not overly faux
bursting with 'diamonds'.

Anyone else have to dress up standard claws? :D

Oh my gosh!

I just spray painted a pair with American Accents paint,
and they already look so cool! When they dry, I'll apply
something to dress them up. This is going to be much more
fun than trying to find hair safe, dependable toys.

These claws are proven winners, I'll just have to buy them
all up and dress them up. LOL.

KM, who is having fun entertaining herself.

I hope you post pictures of your creations when you're done. I love my Goody claws too.

I use a lot of the same toys too. I'd never get rid of any of my not so used things though. As soon as I got rid of something I'd want it again, so no hair toy purges for me :p

Could you glue some sparkles or bling on a plain claw clip? I'm thinking of stuff I've seen at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. You can buy little bags of flat backed sparklies. I have a favorite claw clip from WM and I wish it came in other colors. I'd love a black one. Maybe I should try spray painting one.

That's cool that you found away to "dress up" your claw clips.:)

I have often lamented the fact that my trusty claw clips couldn't be made out of wood or something a little more glamorous than plastic, such as lacquered metal like the Ficcare. I've got a pair of small metal claw clips with bling but that's not really what I'm after. Painted wouldn't do it for me, either. Sigh ...........

I'd love to see what you've come up with.

hey i thought i was the only one who spray painted plastic clips/claws.. i hardly put my hair up but when i do its always with the same old wavelength pins... its a shame because ive got over 70 hairtoys (not counting wavelength pins or strickly decorative toys) over 40 hairsicks and forks... when my hair is up its in a pony with covered elastics or its in a bun with wavelength pins

I don't dress them up, but I have some of those and love them! I use them for in the shower.

I finally found a name for my favorite clip. It's Vidal Sassoon "Omega" clip.
Looks like a Mobius strip that got crossed with pufferfish teeth.
It's boring brown, but I am just so happy to get my hair up that I'm not worried about color at this point.
Picture doesn't show how cool the design is.
