I had tried these on my hair when it was much longer and never been able to get one to hold. In search of new styles, I thought I'd give it a shot. I have a complete lack of hairtoys so this might be a good style for those of you starting out- my hair is to the nape of my neck/top of shoulders. I used a single plastic comb but of course you could use something prettier if you have it!

I side parted my hair at the front. I am growing out bangs- if you're not, you could put a bobby pin behind your ear to make the hair stay. I pulled it back into a ponytail at the base of my head and twisted upwards. My ends didn't need tucking in but yours might if you're lucky! I smoothed the horizontally hair over the roll and underneath. I secured it with a plastic comb which is holding very well.

My hair is one day after wash (in my case, in need of a wash!) so the style is holding well. If your hair is slippery, try a bit of product to encourage it to stay- a little mousse, non-alcohol gel or aloe gel.

This style was incredibly easy on shorter hair and in my opinion, looks pretty nice as well. Try it out!

Very pretty, and encouraging for those of us who have shorter hair! :)

I think because the ends are sticking out this is technically a peacock twist. Eventually though (as is the case with my hair) your ends get too long for the style to hold right with them sticking out.

But it looks great. :)

I could probably roll the ends under now as part of the main roll, I might try that the next time I do it!

Pegs is right, this is actually a peacock twist. You can make it look like a french twist more by cramming the ends into the roll.

A peacock twist is basically just a french twist with the ends sticking out. It looks lovely though :)

I tucked the ends in which was easy enough- ladies, you can wear this one whichever way you like!

Pics with ends tucked in- washed my hair so it's still a bit damp in these ones!
