Darker hair, lighter eyebrows? Check in!

Hey, I'm curious - how many of you here, like me, have eyebrows and/or eyelashes that are naturally significantly lighter than your hair? I see so many people with the opposite, naturally, that sometimes I feel like a freak. BF, for example, has almost the same hair color as me, but dark brown eyebrows and (of course, typical male) long, thick, dark eyelashes. My eyebrows are white blonde in places, ashy in others, eyelashes dark at the roots and light at the ends.

If you do have lighter eyebrows/eyelashes, do you dye them to match? Or, as I did for ages, do you bleach/dye your hair to match your eyebrows or eyelashes?

I really wonder what makes this happen. In some light, my hair and eyebrows seem to be the same color (dark blonde, light ash brown) but in other light (see profile pic!) my hair looks very dark but my eyebrows and eyelashes transparent.

Are there other freaky light eyebrow/lash people out there?

my eyebrows are lighter than my hair, because I henna my hair, but my brows are all natural. the difference is not huge though.. and my eyelashes are black, naturally.

when my hair is natural though, the brows are a bit darker... so I probably don't really qualify to this thread :P

I have dark brown and red-brown hair at the roots and blonde/brown at the ends. The eyebrows are dark brown. The eyelashes are the only black hairs on me, besides some random ones sprouting out of my head.

I don't dye or henna anything. Too broke to maintain and I don't really care much, anyway. I have accepted the fact that I'm distantly related to a skittles bag and have moved on. :p

I'm checking out. I'm naturally a very light auburn, but my eyelashes and brows are practically black. Even with my hair darkened with henna, I was asked a few weeks ago if I bleached it, because of the mismatched eyebrows.

I have dark hair (indigo'ed black) and light brows. It drives me crazy.
I use a dark eyeshadow to darken them. Have tried to dye them before but it never quite worked out.

I have red hair yet my eyelashes and eyebrows are both light blonde, which I know a lot of red heads have. I used to use eyebrow pencil on my eyebrows, then I dyed them for quite a while. However, the dye was much too dark and I just looked strange lol, so now I just let them grow naturally. My eyelashes look transparent without any mascara on them :rolleyes:

I seriously have this problem. I drew my eyebrows in for a really long time but then I got lazy and stopped. Now that I've lightened my hair it matches my eyebrows. Woo!

I have dyed my hair dark dark brown before but even my natural light blonde if far darker then my white blonde brows. The only way you can see them is to get them wet. I always fill them in with powder before i leave the house.

My eyebrows are waaaaaaay lighter than my hair. I use a brow powder to darken them up. Otherwise, my forehead really looks taller than it is (FIVEhead! :D).

Naturally, I'm reddish blonde, with absolutely clear eyelashes, and eyebrows that are mostly clear hairs with a few kind of darker ash blond ones mixed in. I don't realy pay attention to my eyebrows because my bangs cover them, but I use clear brow gel to make the hairs go in the same direction if I think I need it. I've tried brow powders/pencils, but they just look too harsh on me. I guess I'm used to the clear look. I'm thinking about using henna on my brows next time I do my hair. When I used red chemical dye, I tried to do the eyebrows once or twice, but the dye never took.

My eyebrows are so light you can hardly see them, same for my eyelashes. I am a natural blonde. Thank goodness for makeup!

Mine are white, which is pretty obnoxious considering I henna. My natural hair color is still pretty dark in comparison.

My natural hair color is light brown/gold with red highlights, but my eyebrows have always been far lighter, like a sandy blonde color. I do henna my hair and now its deep red/auburn so the light brows are more noticable I guess. My eyelashes are dark brown with gold tips. When I think about it, I henna the brows, otherwise use an eyebrow pencil to make them look better.

I know my hair doesn't look that dark in my avatar, I need to update it, but my eyebrows are significantly lighter than my hair. I don't dye them, but I do use brown eyeshadow and an eyebrow brush to fill them in.
I must have gotten pretty good at it to because when my SO and I moved in together he had no idea I did that until he saw me getting ready one morning.

One day I'd like to just embrace my blonde eyebrows, but I feel like I looks so weird without them (they literally disappear they're so blonde).

Yeah, mine are light and kind of naturally thin. So if one hair goes askew it looks totally crazy. I use eyebrow gel that has a brown tint to keep the hairs in place and to darken them up. It's kind of a pain in the ass though. I wish they'd just match my hair.

I'm naturally the opposite of you (too...), and I have to say I'll bet you have one big advantage I don't: all the hair on my body is dark, like my eyelashes and eyebrows, and because I'm fair-skinned, it's really obvious. I'll wager you have fair hair on your body. You can put makeup on lashes and brows more easily than you can lighten or remove all your body hair! >_o

Yep, my hair is a dark honey color, but my eyebrows & lashes are nearly colorless. I used to pencil my brows in all the time, but for a few years now I've stopped -- I've made peace with it and even prefer leaving them alone these days.

i'm the other way around, darker brows, lighter hair. my eye brows are actually brown while i am a red head and my lashes are blonde tipped with dark roots.

My eyelashes are dark brown, much darker than my hair, but my eyelashes are sort of like what you described. They're dark at the roots and really light blonde/colorless at the tips.

mine have always been DARKER than my hair. but my brother has ashy brown hair with WHITE eyebrows and lashes and red beard.... also he is fair skinned, blue-eyed and has freckles. So he looks like an awkward albino sometimes

Mine too - except for the really blonde hairs which grow extra long. But I have found my eyebrows look better now that I have stopped plucking them at all. And over time they are getting darker, so they are more noticeable - just always lighter than my hair.

My eyebrows are super light compared to my hair. For some reason there greyish color and my hair is black :shrug: I hate it I wish I had really thick black eyebrows :sad:

Jep, same here. My eyebrows are lighter then my hair. My hair is darkblonde/lightbrown and my eyebrows are light ash blonde. In sunlight they look white. My eyelashes are also lightblonde, which makes them allmost invisible.
I used to have white hair as a baby, maybe that has something to do with it?

Once someone askes me why I color my hair brown :confused: She thought I must color my hair since my eyebrows and hair don't match.

I usually make my eyebrows darker with pencil or powder, because I like noticable eyebrows. (and I love thick brows ! but mine are naturally thin)

My eyebrows are lighter than my hair, and they were even before I dyed it. It's one reason I used to dye my hair blonde - so it would match my eyebrows better!! I thought I was a blonde - but I'm not, or at least not since I grew up. Now, I use a brow pencil to make them stand out. Dying eyebrows just sounds scary to me, so I stick to penciling them in. The Just For Redheads pencil lasts all day if I apply in the morning. :)

I think this is common among people of Celtic descent, actually. I know a lot of natural redheads and blondes have the same issue.

I've tried to color my eyebrows but dark eyebrows just look really weird on me, so I've decided that I'm happy with what I've got and don't try to change it or wish for something else.

I have auburn hair, invisible eyelashes (have been asked if they got burned off in a fire) and light strawberry blonde eyebrows, which I dye to match my hair when I'm not too lazy. I use mascara for the eyelashes but would dye them in a second if there was something available that wouldn't burn my eyes out of thier sockets...:rolleyes:

Hey, I saw your picture, I'm not sure. It might be because your eyebrows are a bit thin. If they grew thicker they would probably look darker too.

My hair is light golden brown, but my eyebrows are ashy and so thin. I dye them darker from time to time but I still have to fill them in with an eyebrow-pensil. My lashes are also ashy but I use mascara so they don't bother me so. I feel wierd without eyebrows.

I have darker hair and blonde eyebrows - so blonde they can disappear if I get too much sun! :)

I have very light blonde eybrows and pretty much invisably light eyelashes @_@
I like to colour my eyebrows in with a pencil VERY lightly so they dont look drawn in, but just to make them a little darker blonde. Having light eyelashes is so annoying because mascara never seems to get close enough to the root so I always have blonde spots :(

My eyebrows are naturally a lighter shade than my ash blonde hair, but during summer it gets even worse, as they turn nearly white. My hair lightens a bit as well, but nowhere near as much as my eyebrows.

My eyelashes are quite weird. They're half ash brown and half white :confused: The part closer to the eye being the darkest.

This used to bother me when I was younger, and I would draw on eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil every morning before going to school. Now it doesn't bother me anymore. When I dye my hair a darker colour, I will dye the eyebrows to match, though. I think it's one of those things you're more aware of yourself. Other people don't really notice it unless you point it out.

My hair is naturally blonde, and I dye black, so, my eyebrows are much lighter than my hair. My eyelashes too, are kinda golden-y blonde and darker at the root. Most of my eyebrows have been plucked off, due to an unfortunate waxing experience, so I draw them on with a pencil and fill in what is still there, so it doesnt bother me much.

When I was younger, my hair was a bright medium carroty red color, and my eyelashes and brows are were very pale yellow. In the last year though my hair seems to be growing in more of a strawberry blonde and I swear my eyebrows are a tad darker than they used to be. They're still lighter than my hair.

I live for mascara, but hate coloring in my eyebrows. It always look really fake to me, even if I do it with a red or blonde pencil.

I have medium brown hair and my eyebrows are a light grayish-brown. It looks really weird in some lights. I don't do anything about it though.

I have a sorority sister who has brown eyelashes on one eye and blonde ones on another eye. Now THAT'S genetic fun! :D

My eyebrows are the same color they've always been (I'm guessing light blonde) even though my hair's darkened over the years, so they're lighter than my hair (which is medium golden brown, natural not dyed). Though I've experimented with hair dye in my teens (and once in adulthood), I've never touched my eyebrows and I still don't. I might darken my eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil, but I don't think I'll ever dye them. I also won't dye my hair back to match (too much work).:shake:
