Hallo guys, I'm fairly new here but I wanted to share my victory! I have tried to braid before but because I have had some really short layers I found it very difficult. Anyway, yay! I can do it now my hair is long enough!

Here is the first one I tried.

And this one on the side I am proud of :D

I'm looking foward to trying lots of different braids and updos!

I attempted a 'fairytale braid' which is just gorgeous! But unfortunately I couldn't quite make it look right. I think with some help holding my hair it would have been better!

Thanks all! :) Yes I think I'm hooked now, although my arms get tired!

Well I'll give the fairytale braid another go soon and show it off, if it's good enough! haha.

MissBellydance, the French braid is awesome for your first time. I have been able to do that braid a long time and your is as good as any I can do! I can't wait to see what you come up with after some practice! :D

Good job! It does get easier with practice (like many other things, lol). I have yet to master the fairy tale braid, too!

Congratulations! Your braids are very pretty. I am envious - I seem to only be able to do them on other people's hair.

Beautiful braids. I really like the side one. I haven't mastered that one yet. The great thing about braiding your hair is that your arms will get stronger. :D

Excellent job! That is very good work!

For the short layers, you could try ignoring them initially then pinning or using barrettes to get them in place once the braid is finished.
