Have you ever caught a glimpse of your hair in the mirror and though," oh my goodness.. it's actually alot longer than I thought! It's grown!
Well I had one of those moments this Sunday! I couldn't believe it! It's weird because I see my hair everyday, but all of a sudden it looked quite a bit longer to me..
Anyways, just thought I'd share. :)
God bless

I notice this when mostly when, as it grows, the ends twist a little more into a curl. My hair's been the same length for what seems like a really long time, so I don't notice this very often.

We just got a dresser with a huge mirror, the location is such that I have to walk by it several times a day. I admit, I look into that mirror a lot (at my hair) :D Hubs caught me looking and said "My baby's got a great big mirror now so she can play with her hair in front of it :crush:
How sweet huh? But I did relocate all my hair stuff, untill then I was utilizing a small mirror that is about 4 inches round. :)
I do like the new mirror, hehe. And to answer the original question, yes, I am surprised.

It's an excited, happy, bubbly feeling in your tummy when you realize it's grown, isn't it? :D I have been keeping pretty close tabs on it the past few months, but when I first ventured past tailbone, I remember getting my hair caught in the buttons on the back pocket of my favorite jeans. I was like, "OMG!!!!!!!!!" Hehehehe!

So, you leave it so long between doing household cleaning that your hair has a chance to visibly gain length?? A girl after my own heart! ;)
I've had this quite a few times, when my hair was waistlength or just past there it seemed to be that length for ages, then all of a sudden one day in the shower i realised it was hiplength, that seemed to happen within the space of a few months or so.
The other day i was chatting to a friend online and took my hair down to redo it and suddenly realised it seems to be reaching the bottom of my ribs again. I cut it to what i thought was bra strap in the summer but as i wasn't actually wearing a bra it turned out a few inches above that, so for ages it just seemed bra strap-ish length so that was a nice shock, hopefully i'll be back to waist by the summer with any luck, then i doubt it cut it shorter than that again.

I had one of those moments while my MIL was visiting in September. I had taken it out of my tucked french braid and she was like, "You look like something out of one of those really old movies," which for her is a very sweet compliment....ok and the other day I had it down while getting ready for work and I sat on it, I actually sat on my hair for the first time in a really long time. I am so happy!

yea that's happened to me before. Some days my hair feels longer. Some days shorter. But i was at a friends house and she has these 2 ginormous mirrors. When i saw my hair i was like..wow its longer then i thought. Then for a little bit i sat there looking at it. It was nice. I love seeing long hair but i never really do. And then seeing my hair has gotten longer! I enjoyed it.

Every time I see my sig. Or recently, wash my hair, since it's starting to tickle interesting parts of my bum.

I go through periods of putting my hair into a bun before I do anything else, so I don't see it very often. Then I'll leave it down after washing and catch sight in a mirror or glass door and it's like - holy moley - I can't believe it's that long.

I can relate to Spidermom, I always keep my hair up in a bun and don't get to see it that often since I am always on the go. But last Sunday I acctually took the time to let down my hair and give it a nice slow combing and oiling, and when I looked at it in my long mirror, I was like WOW my hair has grown alot! Thats an awesom feeling.

Not lately. Honestly I've been looking at my hair and thinking it looks really freaking short!
It's BSL when wet, but it springs up a bit and just barely brushes it. I have been feeling like my hair looks so short, which is weird, considering where I started.
Then I gave myself a trim, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch with feyes method.

I have massive hair anorexia, for me the recognition that my hair is long comes when I am looking at someone with mid-back hair, or a picture on this site and think "I can't wait till my hair is that looooong".... and I realize that mine is about 8 inches longer. :)

Everytime my hair's down and I look at the mirror and see how it peeps from under my arm near my waist it feels so so long - !
And then I turn to look how it looks on my back and it looks so short... :(

definitely! i have been having that a lot lately.. it's like i stopped paying attention for the past 4 inches and all of a sudden, whoa!
usually in the mirror when i'm not looking directly at it, and sometimes if i see my shadow on the ground... or like madpiratebippy said, when thinking someone else's hair is "really long" and later realizing mine is longer! :)

Well, not with this current hairstyle (yet). I do remember one such occasion when I had long hair. I used to wear it in a single braid or a bun, and I rarely wore it down. One time, when I was walking downtown to meet a friend and I was wearing it down, I caught a glimpse of myself in a shop window, and saw that the ends of my hair were whipping and swinging behind my lower back as I walked. That was a kind of a thud-moment for me. I hadn't realized at the time it was that long. I wish I could have remembered that one single moment before I sat in the salon chair and had my hair chopped off :sad. Oh well. Live and learn, eh?
