Ok, friends, I have purchased this liquid hand soap which sounds like it has great ingredients for hair care! :cheese: I was wondering if any of you gurus or chemists out there could tell me if you see anything in the list of ingredients that could be problematic as a shampoo? :eye:

Pure & Basic Products of Carson, CA.

Natural extra cleansing liquid hand soap with green tea, rosemary & tea tree:

Water, cocamidopropyl betaine (coconut), Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Peg-90 Glyceryl Isosterate, Sodium Cocoyl Apple Amino Acids, Sodium Chloride, Ethylhexylglycerin, Laureth-2, Citric Acid, Camellia Sinensis (Green & White Tea) Leaf Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Botanical Fragrance, Chlorophyllin Copper Complex. Certified Organic Ingredients.

Also says: Glycol-free, Paraban-free, Sulfate-free.

Thanks in advance for any input! :D :flower:

I'd think it might be a bit harsh. It's formulated for the skin on your hands, not your hair or scalp.

But you can always try it and see what happens.

ive used suave bodywash with fantastic results on my hair (was in the hospital and didnt have any shampoo).. but never hand soap.. good luck to you.. i say try it.. whats the worst that could happen?.. what you end up with dry hair for a day? a little leave in will fix that.. and if you get greasy hair you could just wash it again with regular shampoo

Contrary to most belief, liquid soap is liquid soap, weather it is shampoo, hand soap, shower gel, or bubble bath. The bases are all pretty much the same, and unless you are using dish liquid, body soaps and hand soaps tend to actually be MORE moisturizing and heavy then liquid soaps made for hair, i.e. shampoo. Again unless dish soap or antibacterial meant to strip grease, most formulations are to be gentle or moisturizing to skin and women's hands, using heavier emollients and oils than shampoo.

The ingredients you listed seem pretty similar to most shampoos out there, I don' think it could hurt.

As a sidenote, I use shampoos I do not like in hand soap containers to wash hands with them. I find them more drying than hand soaps.

I don't think it could hurt to try. Some of the people around here use dish soap as shampoo with no problems and say that is the only thing they'll use. I personally find it drying enough on my hands and wouldn't think to try it on my hair, but then I remember that I used sulfate shampoo up until August of last year. I would think dish soap, hand soap, etc. should be easier on the hair and less drying than sulfate shampoo. As always, I would just use caution when trying anything new. I just did a CWC type of method to remove some product buildup that was aggravating my hair with good results. Just try that if you have any issues and want a quick fix. Good luck to you if you give it a try! :flower:

Thanks Pegs, Kirin, Squiggy, & healingsolitude,

I really appreciate your input! Most of things you said are things I had mulled over in my mind. (o: I'd think maybe too cleansing, then I'd think maybe it'd be all right because it's all soap and the ingredients are good and no sulfates! Then I'd think that the tea tree oil might help my itchy scalp! And, not to mention the price was very reasonable!

I think it's always good to get other opinions, and insights, especially when it comes to our mania..........hair care! Thanks again dear friends!!!
