What LHC has done for me? :)
I can honestly say my hair obsession has grown to its full potential :wigtongue lol . Every since I started with this site I have been changing the way that I take care of my hair. I do not blow fry as often as I use to (only for an occasion) my hair looks so much healthier. I stopped dying it, I started oiling it and even last night I did my very first vinegar rinse (cant for get the Monistat) lol. I went to beauty school and there is no way that you can learn as much information about (healthy) hair in school as you can with LHC ;). This is a wonderful site, not only because of the hair topics but because of all the support that you get from everyday issues. You guys are wonderful thanks for all the help. :cheese:

I wouldn't have decided to grow my hair long if it wasn't for LHC.
I discovered vinegar rinses which means I have been able to stop using anti-dandruff shampoos which gave me a huge frizz halo.
Gave me the instructions for a bunch of updos.
Introduced me to the wonders of Ficcare.
I'm sure there's more but I'm really pleased that this site exists :)

LHC has taught me how to take care of my hair - yea! I'm trying to give up the blow dryer at least for the summer - it's taking a schedule adjustment, I was used to morning wash and dry. I've learned all sorts of new twists and updos. I have learned that hair toys extend far beyond goodies! SMT is my friend. All the people that post and answer questions are great! LHC taught me how to measure my hair (maybe not so good):p
I'm learning to lighten without chemical highlights - thanks for the honey thread and tips.:D
And I never knew :cheese: until this site!

1. improved how I care for my hair
but most importantly:
2. reinforced my committment to growing my hair, while diminishing my self-consciousness. Since joining LHC, I've never had to invoke the "two week rule"*
8) Jim
*two week rule: get the urge to cut? Wait two weeks to see if it lasts. If it does, cut. Most likely, the momentary urge passes and the rule helps avoid spur-of-the-moment actions that would be instantly regretted.

I think that's the most important thing, too. Some of you may have seen where I posted that I was very close to chopping off my hair due to (real? perceived?) outside pressure. I found LHC in the nick of time, or I may have done something that I would have regretted terribly. So, thanks, everyone, for giving me that support - even if it's a little, it means so much!

I very much agree. In terms of hair LHC has been an amazing source of support when i feel like giving up and going short(ish). Even just having replies that encourage you to persevere and offer solutions to try helps a hell of alot.
It's also been lovely to read posts and threads from people also into what would seem as weird haircare, i was fascinated before i found this place but had nobody to interact with about it and that definately made me feel less isolated in the things i am drawn to hair-wise.
Non hair......again there's a great support network here and i've met some lovely people.....LHC has kept me from thinking that the internet is basically full of twats.

I already learned a lot about hair on a german community.
LHC taught me about shampoo bars and being relaxed with cones. :-)
In general LHC is a big inspiration and I´m about to test the lightening effects of honey.

LHC helped me realize I wanted long hair. I was just looking for tips for my husband, who decided to grow his hair to shoulder length from a typical man's cut, and, like Eadwine said, something clicked for me. Before, I was content with shoulder length hair, getting liberal trims to cut off the previously color-treated ends. After LHC, I discovered I wanted BSL hair, then after seeing hair like Snowymoon's, decided I wanted at least waist-length hair.
I also majorly re-vamped how I care for my hair with all the great care tips I learned here. I was very reluctant to abandon the blowdryer, but LHC gave me the courage and reason to try, and I'm very happy with that. Gave up the cones and sulphates, too, and added CO washing, CWC washing, oils and aloe. Switched to seamless combs and discovered hair-friendly hair toys.
I also enjoy the friendly environment here. It satisfies a social need I have since I left the working world.

LHC has helped me grow over 10 inches. I am also grateful for everyone here and their knowledge they share.:cheese: I learned how to use herbs here. And how to take care of my hair whens it curly and strait on it own.

1. Learned the "2 week rule" and apply it to other areas of my life also.
2. Gives me someplace to go when I just "need" to cut my hair and then I don't want to cut anymore
3. Introduced me to lots of toys and styles which I'm looking forward to playing with as my hair gets longer.
4. Lots of info on getting, and maintaining healthy hair;)

LHC has helped me realise what I was doing that was good for my hair, and what was bad. Not to mention oilings, and cassia, and miconazole!
Also I hadn't really seen hairsticks before. I simply couldn't bear to cut my hair now as it means I wouldn't be able to wear my pretties! Not to mention ficcares. But then I don't have to risk a stylist cutting off too much thanks to Feye's self-trimming method. :cheer:

It made me spend way to much money on oils, EO, herbs, monistat, and hair toys :p, But seriously my hair is in extremely healthy condition. I stopped blow frying it, went chemical free, and more natural with poo bars, and I comb it instead of brushing it. I never knew one could have such soft hair:cheese:

LHC taught me to treat my hair beyond every-other-day washes and 'cone-conditioning, and also that I do not need to trim my hair every six weeks. It taught me about S&Ding and I've increased my updo repetoire threefold, giving me more and more inspiration to grow out.
Most of all, there's plenty of support and people who won't think I'm crazy for wanting to talk 'hair'.:D

LHC has allowed me to finally have long hair by teaching me how to properly take care of it. Granted it's not very long by LHC standards, but it's the longest I've ever been able to grow it.
LHC has also taught me that there isn't something wrong with my hair because it's not straight and it's not curly.
LHC has also taught me that my hair actually is pretty - I still feel it's 'freaky' IRL, but it's freaky in a pretty way

It has also made me realize that I am not a freak for wanting to be a long hair in a world full of shorthairs

I used to be in the salon every other month for touch-ups, or highlights, or lowlights, cuts, and all the other stuff they can convince you to do to your hair. I was told long hair was for children and looked ridiculous on a woman my age. I was on the "current style" merry-go-round. Well, I decided I was no longer going to be a slave to the salon industry and found TLHC on the internet. It has changed absolutely everything about how I care for my hair. I just wish I had the years back to grow my hair. I am 56 and my hair measures 20" when wet. It grows the average 1/2" a month and at that rate it will take me 4 or 5 years to get to my waist. But, seeing the improvement in my hair from the knowledge I've gotted from you all, I think I can achieve the waist length hair I want without it looking witchy! I will have my first trim since 7/07, this June. Thank you everyone at TLHC!

I stumbled upon this community two years ago when I was looking for a diversion after my sister died. The grief and loss websites were too depressing and since I had long hair, I googled "long hair" and the rest is history! :sun: So the most important thing that LHC did for me was to hold my hand and keep me company during the saddest time of my life. It also gave me the courage to stop dyeing my hair AND gave me confidence in the fact that it's okay to be over 50 with hair down to THERE! I love this place. :heartbeat

Since finding TLHC I have learnt that long healthy hair means not just patience and finding the right routine but to love my hair for its own individuality.
I have also had excellent advice on here which i am very grateful for because without it, my hair would be a dyed, frizzy, straightened mess. Because of this i can now look forward to having healthy long hair instead of just long hair!

I've made great new friends.

Wow, without LHC I would never have manged to grow my hair this long... S&D's, coconut oil, and all the neat hairstyles I've learned here are my hairsavers!
It's also given me a place to just hang out and have fun!
And... it's gotten me into things I never dreamed I'd even try!!!! You enablers!!!! :cheese:

LHC has made me much more aware of my hair and how I treat it. I don't think I've ever thought of cutting it, and have yet to ever visit a salon, but I had fallen into the pit of "well, after a certain age, I'll just have to cut it anyway." Even though I have no desire to do so. Here, I learned that I'm not the only one jumping out of that pit and refusing to ever go there again.
My hair is the healthiest it's ever been. I discovered that my hair still doesn't like coconut oil, but it loves castor, avacado, olive, and I'm even going to try alma again.
I discovered bone combs and will never again use any other kind.
And I learned that there's so much more I can do with long hair than I ever imagined. I was at a dinner the other night and a woman said to me that she was tired of only wearing her just-below-the-shoulder length hair in a ponytail. All she did was just pull it back and twist an elastic band around it. And so because she was tired of only wearing her hair that way, she chopped it off. Now she can't pull it back into a ponytail or really do anything else with it.
What makes it worse is that her husband is always noticing when I wear my hair a different way.
Oh, and LHC has also cost me a lot more in hair toys. Though if I hadn't learned about all those toys, I wouldn't be contemplating making my own.

LHC has given me (apart from hours of entertainment and great people!)
CO and honey,
coconut oil,
Updos (/buns, I had never known how to make them before which just seems weird to me know),
Horn combs,
and of course, last but not least - Hairtoys
All of which adds up to the happiest, easiest hair I've ever had
You people :rockerdud:
(I have stopped
blowdrying my hair straight every couple of days,
shampoo,
styling products,
brushes,
chemical colours.)

Yeah, LHC is the only "internet community" I bother to be a part of, too.
LHC has given me thicker and longer hair than I ever thought possible. Apart from a brief period as a kid, my hair was never this long.
It's healthier, too, now that I've been oiling, misting, occasionally WO washing, and being gentler with it. I think not dyeing or bleaching has also made it grow in thicker, and as I slowly get rid of the most damaged bits, the overall appearance of my hair is vastly improved.
LHC has helped me feel good about my hair - even though it is so fine and thin - and thus better about myself. As I continue to grow and learn, taking better care of hair and body is part of this, and LHC has helped, a lot!

LHC has helped me to not only care for my hair much more lovingly, but has also helped me to love my hairtype, which I always thought wouldn't allow for long hair. I now have seen others with very fine, relatively thin hair grow much longer than I ever thought possible, and now I'm able to set goals I never would have had the courage to aspire to.
More importantly, this place has been a source of support and comfort to me so many times. You all have given me so much more than I'll ever be able to give back. :grouphug:

LHC has done a lot for me.
It made me grow my hair out when I was giving up.
It has given me so many tips that I **needed** to know.
It has helped me get my hair to two second-longest it has ever been.
It as given me new ideas for how to take care of my hair and given me guidelines that I should follow, even if I have not been able to follow them as I would have liked to so far.
It has given me a bit of confidence, though I guess that will be hard to understand.
It has given me an amazing support community, not just for my hair, but for everything.
It has given me a place where religion and race and perceptions don't matter, a place where people come together and help each other and care for each other, despite different beliefs or viewpoints. That's what matters the most to me, then again, I'm a peace-loving hopeless romantic. :P
