I don't know if you were going for that "big round" look that I remember from the 1970s Afros, but what you've got looks really good. It looks a bit like you twisted the ends into puffs?

Good job, keep on growing!

Ricky. I think it looks great. Your hair is just screaming to be coiled, palm rolled and worn "up and out" for a styling op. Like baby loc starting, only comb them out before they start to loc.
See the curl tendrils that have definition? Coax that out of your whole head. It's a "safe" place to keep the curls so they don't tangle. Not many days or it will start to loc, right? Maybe five, if you sleep covered at night. You don't want tangles. Tangles = breakage when you try to get them out, no matter how sweet you are when you are combing.
You could also probably have someone do teeny tiny two strand twists that you could keep in for a few weeks. It is hard to do the tiny ones by yourself. I have a friend with hair your same texture, and she did micro two strand twists by herself and it took her a lot of a three day weekend to get them very small. But once up, it's good growing time and easy care.

Nappturality has about a million pictures. I love their site and spend a lot of time there, too.
I don't know about S spray. I think I used it on my girls and their hair ended up feeling crunchy and dry. Some glycerine or silicone in in maybe?
Have you seen Miss Jessie's site? http://missjessies.com/
You can get fro/curl options there. Look at the pics. It's girly, but they have great ways to manage curly length, and I am sure some of that could be adapted for dude hair. Be careful -- a lot of the curl was achieved with chemicals, but there are natural styles there too. Also, any two of their products cost what a family of four could spend on groceries for a week!

I just bought some of this : http://www.kinky-curly.com/shop.html
Cheaper and natural.

Also, since you have been playing around with product, you might want to do an ACV rinse. I did one on one of my girls last weekend, because I had been messing around with vatika oil. I did her Doc Bronner's scalp wash, with no-cone conditioner all over the rest of her hair, then rinsed everything until the water ran clear. Then the ACV rinse -- you should have seen the white water and bubbles coming off her hair -- for a long time!
ACV actually leaves it very soft when drying.
Then she was good to go for a natural oiling and braiding.

You have so many styling options. Keep growin'!

Also, you know to detangle in sections with a very wide comb, while your hair is wet and slathered in conditioner, right? Pref. in the shower. Get a shower comb that has no plastic ridges down the teeth of the comb. People pay a lot of money for a no-ridge comb but I found a perfect one in the drugstore for under three bucks. I keep it in the shower. You need a super smooth one or else it will break your hair. We learned that the hard way.

you know..the afro is a rad idea but what about dreads? From what I see already-your hair wouldn't look bad at all with them in.Though I totally dig the afro idea too.Either way-you're well on your way :rockerdud

your hair is well on its way to looking like Carlito Cool's - but in my opinion you are better looking than him. So keep that in mind when chatting up the girls! :D

I think it will be fuller & more like the wrestler's
(or cynthia's?) when it's longer. I hope these are helpful!

lol thanks ya'll but the bad part of wearing my hair like that is when I wanna detangle my hair and wear it in a round afro then I have to spend like 20 minutes combing out all the tangles
