I was wondering if anyone had figured out a way, or seen directions for an obi knot style updo?

I wonder what you mean by an obi knot? There are so many different ways to tie an obi... The typical obi is tied this way (http://www.risingsunimports.com/articles/howtotieobi/). But I don't think you mean this OTAIKO knot....

As in Obi Wan Kanobe?

Do you have any pictures of what you want? I have some Japanese inspired hair toys that claim to do all this really cool stuff with your hair, but I've not really learned how to use them yet. Is it something like the Geisha hairstyles?

Sorry, I should have been clearer :o

That's exactly the kind of knot I was thinking about. Now if I could only figure out a way how I could do an updo that looked something like that.

I think there's a bow hairstyle in either Jamie Rines Jones' Braids and Updos Made Easy or one of Patrick Campbell's 'Dressing Long Hair' books, but I can't remember which one. It involved a lot of teasing and hairspray, though. :(

This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvzmxaC9lKI) is what I thought of (ignoring the teasing part). Not really traditional, but really cute. :)

Ooh I like the bow one. Minus the teasing of course. How can she just sit there smiling while he's torturing her hair like that?
