View Full Version : Question: Updo for wedding

I will be attending 2 weddings this month and am wondering which updo to wear. I am thinking of
1) Rope braided bun for one wedding
2) Isilya's Woven Bun for the next wedding.

Any other choice? I will be wearing a sari for both these weddings! :) Definintely it has to be an updo - no braids. If at all braids I think Five-strand braid would be very elaborate and good... (Thanks for any suggestions)!!

How about a cameo bun I like how that one looks and maybe the woven bun sounds good too. or how about that nightshade volume one with a bun at the bottom I think that will look very nice in your hair.

If you have really nice sticks with beaded ends and such you could probably get away with a plain bun and dress it up as well. Besides what you already suggested, you can also do a French herringbone or Dutch braid then tuck the part hanging down under the braid next to your scalp and pin there.

Or hair combs, hair combs dress up almost any bun and look very feminine.

If you're thinking of a rose bun (rope braided bun) you might like to try this variation (http://www.network54.com/Forum/242462/message/1061427557/My+favorite+updo). The picture has gone, sadly, but I remember it was a knock-out - and the instructions are clear enough that you won't need a photo.

Make sure you post photos of whatever 'do you do, please! :D

How about swanns' rope braid bun (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=5078)? If you haven't the patience or the time for 7 braids, four or five work just as well. :)

I love this updo that I found awhile back on youtube.

It's a 2 part video. I have done this updo for church and even tied a ribbon around it (kinda in a bow thing).

Oh my! That was a Fancy Updo!! Great that you were able to do that one. Thanks, I have to try that one too! Looks very good.

You could also separate your hair into two sections, do a basic cinnamon bun with the first, and braid the second section. Then wrap that around the basic bun pinning as you go. This can look very polished and is really easy to do. Or do a sock bun instead of the cinnamon bun.

Thanks cscheck That idea is good too (cinnamon bun with braid around it). I have also been toying with the idea of "sock bun", which I have so far never done!

AprilElf - the swann's rope braided bun looks good, but I may not have the time to make so many ropes  but I will see if I can do it! It would look very grand for a wedding too!

Where can I see what a cameo bun is, and this nightshade volume thing?

A low infinity bun or a chinese braided bun would look awesome with a sari!

With sari I feel nothing looks better than a french twist .But I'm biased as its my favorite updo. Sad I can still not do it. But do remember the pictures. :)

I think saree looks best with jamine flowers in the hair so whatever style you choose my friend do put jasmine in there:D

:) You are right! Anyway I have finally decided on
1) Isilya's Woven Bun (which looks so pretty)
2) Sock bun with braid on the edges (so it looks like a Cameo Bun too)

Thanks everyone. :flowers:
