Speckla i need to wear mine up at night more too

I have the sexy lunchlady look going on at night. I do a french twist and tuck all my hair under a hairnet and then wrap a pretty pink scarf around my head and tie it. My husband didn't even bat an eye when I first came to bed like this. He's used to all my hair woes and techniques. :eyebrows:

First of all HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! Blessing and may all your dreams and desires come true in 2009.

now for 2009:

1. Take better care of my hair.
2. trims every 3-4 months until the side layers grow and even my hemline.
3. keep breakage and damage as controlled as possible by brushing my dry hair slower and taking better care of combing wet, no pulling or tearing bad tangles out.
4. keep hair up at least 90% of the time. either braided or bunned.
5. do weekly deep treatments to keep dryness away.
6. do more heavy oilings at night.
7. buy a satin or silk pillowcase.

That's my resolutions for this new year.

May all of our dreams and hopes and resolutions come true.

This is very similar question I already answered in another thread and posted in my blog...so I'm using here as well.

i). What worked for your hair in 2008?
a) no more brushing
b) no more fighting my natural curls
c) sleeping on a satin pillowcase
d) using henna instead of hairdye
e) CWC
f) Coconut Oil
g) head massages
h) air drying
i) vitamins

ii). What did you achieve hair-wise?
a) growth already
b) happier, healthier looking hair
c) LHC

iii). Anything you wouldn’t do again hair-wise?
a) hair dye
b) emotional cutting hair
c) perms
d) brush

iv). What are your goals for your hair in 2009 and how are you going to achieve them?
a) to get to waist length from shoulder!
b) continue as LHC showed me to start
c) catnip rinse (in cupboard waiting already)
d) LHC support!

and another thing I'd add is self-trims.

January 1st, 2009, 12:26 AM
-No cutting whatsoever the whole year
- 1 year of no cuts in april
-Get shoulder length hair

January 1st, 2009, 12:30 AM
Well I'm new here, but I've figured that if I stop dying, curling, straightening, backcombing, etc my hair I'm sure to see great results. I've been lurking around the threads for months now, but since it's a new year I'm determined to grow, grow, GROW!!

1. No heat tools :(
2. Wear my hair up the majority of the time (except when air drying)
3. Try some new routines to improve the condition of my hair
4. Cut back on washing my hair (maybe 2-3 times a week)
5. No major cuts
6. Learn to embrace my curls!!:D

wish me luck!!:)

January 1st, 2009, 12:48 AM
1) Wear my hair up 95% of the time
2) Start doing trims every 2 or 3 months, I've got to get rid of all of this damage!
3) Learn more updos
4) Keep away from heat styles, and other things like that. I've already went a year!
5) Stop using harsh shampoos on my hair
6) Invest in more oils and experiment what oils my hair likes and dislikes
7) Be happy with my hair

January 1st, 2009, 01:53 AM
To take better care of my hair, of course. Also, for my hair to actually start growing. It is in a serious stall. I don't think it has grown at all for 3 or 4 months. Maybe even longer.

January 1st, 2009, 02:39 AM
1. No cutting.

2. No more hankering after "neatness" and "order." These concepts are incompatible with 2c/3a hair in its natural state.

3. Less shampoo, less often.

4. Continuing using leave-ins and deep treatments.

5. Continuing my vitamin regime and adding more exercise.

6. De-stress!! :justy:

January 1st, 2009, 02:44 AM
1. Learn to braid.
2. Wear hair up more often at home so I can't twirl the ends so much.
3. Have fringe cut back in to avoid looking like a egg. :D

January 1st, 2009, 06:53 AM
1. No cutting!!!!!! Only S & D
2. Gentle handling, like my hair is old lace
3. DT more often
4. Wear it up 95% of the time
5. Find more updos so I can wear it up and not be bored!
6. oil on a more regular schedule.
7. continue to cut back on washes....I only wash 2-3 times a week as it is though. :P

January 1st, 2009, 07:11 AM
1. Straighten less
2. Learn more updos
3. Wear hair up more
4. Get regular trims to grow out layers a bit

January 1st, 2009, 07:22 AM
- trim off all dry ends/damage a little at a time
- heavy oilings at least 3x a week
- continue to use a shower filter

January 1st, 2009, 07:28 AM
1. More frequent S & D's

2. Do a SMT once a week

3. Use up hair products I have on hand. Reduce the number of bottles.

4. Buy more hair toys for wearing it up.

January 1st, 2009, 07:38 AM
* Grow it for a year and see how that works out. (Maby I should measure it today?)

* Try treating it well.

* Try finding out what it likes and dislikes.

* Henna colouring only!!

* Practise hairdos on my kids, who has longer hair than I do! :eyebrows:

* Learn as much as I can about hair here on LHC.

* Buy satin pillowcases.

That it is, for me as a beginner. Not very specific, but I have no idea what my hair likes/dislikes or what it needs. Guess this will be a year full of mistakes and learning, but I'm looking forward to it.

January 1st, 2009, 07:57 AM
Also to add:

No more brushing/combing because it's an endless fight. My hair has reached the length were it eats a comb instead of letting the comb detangle.

No more running my hairs through my hair when it's dry looking for loose or broken hair. No more touching my hair when I'm not washing or styling it. I think this adds to broken hair.

My hair resolutions for 2009:

No cuts or trims in 2009, only S & D
CWC no more than 2 times per week
Use Coconut Oil treatment on the ends 2 -3 times per week
Learn how to do a decent updo
No flat irons
Grow to 30 inches by December 2009

[QUOTE][No more running my hairs through my hair when it's dry looking for loose or broken hair. No more touching my hair when I'm not washing or styling it. I think this adds to broken hair./QUOTE]

Speckla, I'm borrowing this from you - no more "playing with my hair!"

January 1st, 2009, 09:12 AM
Oh, and I wanted to try the 'washing upside down" technique. A couple of days ago there was a thread about washing upside down to bring out the curls. I'm going to give that a try too.

Oh, and a satin pillowcase is on my list.

January 1st, 2009, 09:20 AM
My hair resolutions for 2009:

No trimming for a whole year (a bit scared about this decision but I'll stick to it)
Lots of heavy oiling; using coconut oil or EVOO for overnight oil treatment 2-3 times per week and/or doing hot oil treatments
Washing my hair with only soap bars and herbs (shikakai, amla etc.) and continuing to rinse with acv&honey
Occasionally doing CO washes, but mostly sticking with the above mentioned
Dying my hair with henna
Must try henna-cassia mix just out of plain curiosity
I have to learn how to wear my hair up (I'm hopeless when it comes to updos and this must change)
I'm determined to hit BSL during 2009 and mark my words I will not fail!

January 1st, 2009, 09:42 AM
--grow to shoulder before trimming again
--no heat styling
--natural products only! (using homemade 'poo bars atm)
--DT once a week
--vitamins religiously
--cut down on STRESS and improve diet to help growing

Hair resolution... change nothing. Don't mess with success!

January 1st, 2009, 10:08 AM
1. Try Indian Herbal Hair washing, and use it all year if it works for me.
2. Keep my hair up and protected more often.
3. Figure out a good Hair Oiling Technique that works for my hair. (Currently my hair stays oily when I do it)
4. Continue Vitamins and maybe add biotin.
5. Length Goals: BSL by Birthday in June, and waist or close to it by end of year. Currently at APL.
6. Stay chemical free, including not using conditioner that is not completely natural and/or organic. I'm trying to stay away from "Conditioner" completely but that may not work.
7. Continue using Henna for color and strength.

Because my main goal this year is length and thickness, all of my resolutions have to do with reaching those goals while staying chemical free.

January 1st, 2009, 03:13 PM
1. Do Not Cut
2. Do Not Cut
3. Do Not Cut
this will be hard.

Purchase and experiment more with oils.
Do more scalp massages on a regular basis.
Try henna.
Get some more vitamins to help with growth and take them religiously.
Find a wash/condition method that works for me.
Find a way to get more curls without products and make them actually stay in my hair!!!
Be waist length by the end of the year with healthy hair.

January 1st, 2009, 06:02 PM
Don't cut
stop drinking so much soda
embrace the frizz

January 1st, 2009, 06:15 PM
Hair resolution... change nothing. Don't mess with success! lol! thats a good one and quite appropriate too!

January 1st, 2009, 06:18 PM
My hair goals:
~To post here more often!!! ;)
~To remember to take my vitamins each day
~To wash with shampoo less, and conditioner more
~To work on my scalp massage tecniques, and use them more often
~If my hair reaches thigh length this year, to stop trimming and let it grow!
~To encourage my friends to grow as well, and be a willing support system if needed :D

January 1st, 2009, 06:25 PM
1. to stop washing it with pine tar soap so much.
2. to have it trimmed.
3. to remember to brush it with my bbb every night.
4. to treat it with VCO more often.
5. to do water only washing or NW more than soap.

January 1st, 2009, 06:47 PM
*I just cut (trimmed, really) my hair tuesday, and my resolution is to stop cutting my hair and start to S/D
*Experiment with an appropriate way of sleeping with my hair up/hidden. I'm thinking hairnet, hair scarves, getting a hold of a satin pillow, etc. And Follow through!

I guess I am boring, but my general goal really is just to continue to grow and experiment.

January 1st, 2009, 07:02 PM
Microtrims only until I get solidly to classic, not barely to classic (which is where I am now)
Try to thicken up ends once I get there by making the trims bigger
Keep hennaing! :D
Don't slack on oiling! <-- this is probably the biggest one
Use more updos. Don't be lazy and wear a figure-8 or a log roll or a Ficcare bun every single day.

January 2nd, 2009, 05:47 AM
get all the horrible build up out of my hair:(

January 2nd, 2009, 10:01 AM
Embrace the curls. It's gone from 2b to 2c/3a in the last year and I'm not really coping very well. With that in mind I'm going to try to do the following.

-Stop combing when dry. I'm sure this is now my number 1 cause of damage.
-Try plopping and other tips from the curly girl routines.
-Keep up with deep treatments.
-Learn to live with the "messiness".

January 2nd, 2009, 10:34 AM
My 2009 Hairesolutions
1. No trims until I reach my goal length
2. Weekly S&D Missions
3. Do more SMT and Oil Treatments
4. Continue COing, only shampooing when necessary
5. Experiment with Soapnuts and more natural ways of living
