Taking advantage of free wireless in the Athens airport to post my long-overdue 6-year (!) progress photos.

Here's my hair in October 2002 when I found LHC. Quite bleached out from the Hawaiian sun and saltwater, which you can now see only in my ends. (ETA: It was wavy back then, too, but when this photo was taken, my hair was completely air-dryed and I had brushed it out, which makes the waves almost disappear. The texture/shape of my hair hasn't changed much, really. Later when I'm not jetlagged I can post some more photos of my hair, before 2002 and after, that show the waves and color better.)

And here's my hair two days ago in Athens:

First the wind was blowing, and then a random dog walked past, but I hope you get an idea of the length now.

My flight is about to board, but I wish everyone a very Happy New Year!

Wow, congrats!

Your hair color looks great - I love how the lighter color in the ends looks on you.

With you standing in Athens in front of those pillars with your long, wavy hair blowing, you remind me of the picture of the woman in the painting "The Birth of Venus."

i'm guessing, from the darker colored area, that it took 6 years to get to classic length? that's amazing

i love the really long term progress pics/threads :)

Your hair is stunning, DBF! I remember your pronounced two-tonedness before you once used temporary colour (must have been shortly after I joined), especially one signature picture which looked like the rising sun! I thought it was beautiful, but your hair is still beautiful without the colour difference.

But, I have to say: This is what you call IMAGE-HEAVY?? I think you need to try again... *hint hint* :eyebrows:

Wonderful pictures, thanks for posting! I hope you've enjoyed your trip. The best part of having long hair is being required to travel to exotic destinations to take scenic hair pictures. :agree:

It sort of reminds me of Dianyla's hair, actually...

dancingbarefoot
December 31st, 2008, 09:16 PM
First of all, thank you everyone for all the kind comments. :flowers: It's been a great six years and this is one head of hair that would be a lot shorter without LHC (because I was planning on cutting it when I found the site).

Now I have to try and figure out how you got to your after state.

I didn't really change anything about my routine other than brushing it more gently. The biggest change was just avoiding the sun and saltwater. In the first photo, I was washing about once a week and air-drying, and that's what I'm still doing. (Also, the crappy halogen lighting in the first photo makes it look a lot lighter than it was.)

It's so good to see you!!! Youve been so quiet lately.

Thanks, it's good to be back, too. :) I've been either busy with work, sick, or without regular internet access for about the last two months, but I hope to start posting more often now.

But, I have to say: This is what you call IMAGE-HEAVY?? I think you need to try again... *hint hint* :eyebrows:

Well, the pics looked so huge on my screen...

Wow, the condition is TONS better. I like the waves a lot.

It had the waves before, actually, but in that photo I had just brushed it out straight. Then, as now, the minute I get it wet, it gets wavy again. It's funny like that. :silly:

This is the same hair a year later (October 2003), also brushed but still damp, so there's still some wave to it. I don't know why I was always brushing it out before taking pictures.

http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/1273/cousinitit7.jpg

Are you at terminal yet or is it still growing?

I'm not sure, really, because I haven't been keeping careful measurements. I feel like it's still creeping further down, though.

Thanks again, everyone! :flowers:

Hi Robbi,

No, it wasn't colored, but it did get horribly bleached out by sun and saltwater when I was living in Hawai'i. Too bad I didn't know about protecting hair with coconut oil when I first moved there!
