Hi!

I have a liiiiitte question about combs. Its about horn combs

I know this two (ebay-link, not mine, and random google link) is combs

horncomb: http://www.scarletscarab.com/horn/horn-comb2.jpg
hair fork: http://cgi.ebay.com/Hand-Carved-Hair-Fork-HAIR-COMB-BUFFALO-HORN_W0QQitemZ260335332905QQcmdZViewItemQQptZHair_ Jewelry_Accessories?hash=item260335332905&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1240|66%3A1|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18|301%3A1|293%3A2|294%3A25#ebayphotohosting

THe last one is a hair fork, I suppose you COULD comb with it but it would be awfully slow work!

I personally use a Heavenly Harvest horn comb and a Bone (bakelite) detangler and Palm Pic from Hairsense. The Heavenly Harvest comb is quite rough so I ordered some very fine grit sandpaper to help it along, but the bakelite combs are phenomenal and I love them dearly.

I use a Heavenly Harvest comb as well, and I haven't found either of mine to be rough. :)

I'd call your ebay link a comb (looks like a pick to me -- I don't think I'd wear it decoratively), and the 2-pronged one a fork, but the term "comb" also gets applied to decorative toothed things that go in the hair (like "side combs").

I typically use a Heavenly Harvest wide-tooth comb for detangling as well, though I often go through my hair looking for big tangles with my fingers, first.

I bought one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/QueCraft-DRAGON-Hair-Comb-HORN-Hand-Carved_W0QQitemZ110291114866QQihZ001QQcategoryZ110 628QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1 262 and just love it.

It arrived quickly, too. I hope to order more stuff from her. :)

Here is a good comb analysis thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=10863) from earlier this year.

I was thinking about combs today myself. I bought a plain detangler for in the shower but want a nice horn comb or wooden comb. Thanks for the link CH.

I LOVE my combs from Hairsense on Ebay. They're *awesome*. I've got the pocket/palm sized one and a longer one (can't remember the name), and I really want to get the big detangler one with the handle. The material they're made of is so smooth and sturdy, they glide through my hair with absolutely no snags, and my hair is really, really grateful I finally got good combs!
