is there a product that helps your hair when you air dry straight to keep it straight when it is humid? I ask this because I notice when I have used heat my hair will stay straight even in a mist but when I air dry if it is just a little humid my hair will get that slight wavy kind of puff.

does anyone know of a product that helps that from happening so I can use when I set my hair?

thanks,
G

If I had those beautiful curls I wouldn't want my hair to be straight . . . but that is if *I* had your hair! It is gorgeous!

To answer your question, if I comb/brush my hair every 5 minutes or so while it is air drying it tends to be straight(er). I don't usually do that because my hair starts to curl up when it gets humid (rainy days). You could put some aloe vera gel (like you put on your sun burns in the summer) on your hair while it is damp. It helps hold your hair, similarly to hair gel, without bad product buildup.

Seriously, though. your hair is gorgeous!

If you don't mind rollers, you could use large ones on damp hair. I think that would keep the waviness at bay.

I love my curls so don't want to rid of them, but for straighter hair I do as teacherbear taught me comb every 5 minutes it works great!

I don't braid it at night like I normally do. I also comb out like TB.

You do have gorgeous hair. sweetie.

You do have gorgeous hair! I have tried the trick to keep combing your hair as it's drying, but it made mine poof out. Technically the hair was less curly, but it was much frizzier and it didn't look as good.

I prefer this (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=17291).
If I re-do this wrap at night my hair remains pretty straight.

I hear ya about straighter hair :D My slight waves can annoy me so much. I BBB when just almost dry to finish the drying to get it straighter. If I use a leave in like Phyto 9 or Life Drops it will stay a little straighter.

Jojoba coats my hair and makes it stick straight if I apply to damp hair and let dry. Stays that way in humidity, too.

Too bad I'm allergic to it!

To avoid frizz I use a slight bit of Aloe Vera gel, but I've never been able to get anything to keep my air dried hair straight (not that I've tried that hard searching for a way, but y'know.)

I don't care how much wave I do or don't have, but damp bunning produces less frizz and more controlled waves if that is more acceptable. My hair in my sig pic is the result of such a damp bun. Never bothered to try making it straight.

I have tried Heidi's method and it did work. Here are some pictures:

It definitely made it more relaxed that air drying, which can be seen here:

I realise my hair is uneven and in severe need of a trim :o I'm getting one soon!

The other thing I tried is called a Bubbatail. Bubbatail is a way of wearing your hair by putting damp hair into a low pony with a scrunchy and then continuing using scrunchies down the length. I feel it made my hair slightly straighter.

My tread on Bubbatail is described here:

Here are some pics of my hair after bubbatail. I got sick of them and took them out eventually (before my hair was completely dry) as it was taking my hair to long to dry. Maybe this would work overnight while sleeping?

Thanks everyone.

I let my hair air dry on rollers and it does get straight but it is the second day that my hair gets a little of a wave back in it and my baby hairs get that curl back in. I bought John Freida conditioner for weatherproof hair to see if that helps the humidity not affect it.

will get back with results when I do it later. I tried the saran wrap method to have the flat iron look and loved how it made my hair look and feel.

thanks

ok. liked the results of the saran wrap and the weatherproof conditioner. will see how my hair looks tomorrow. but for now very happy. my hair was too smooth it seemed because it took whatever wave was left in out. I don't know how to post the pic or I would show the results. I have put it in my album if you want to look.

I like your natural ends. I think your hair looks lovely and doesn't need to be trimmed, unless you are set on having the ends perfectly even. :bluesmile

I'm with chickpea! I think your natural ends are really lovely, especially in that last pic! Of course, if you look at my siggy pic you'll see that I like fairy tale ends, so I may be prejudiced! (o;

I pile my hair (instead of coiling it) into a claw clip as it dries. It does make it straighter, but it doesn't look as shiny as when I let it wave naturally.

Wrapping also works, but is time consuming and only works if the weather is not too humid when you take out the wrap.

If your hair can tolerate cones, small amounts of Frizz Ease may help you.

Avoid shea; that adds to curl. Jojoba sometimes makes me a bit straighter, sometimes not.

lol I scrunch up my hair while it is drying so it will hold the waves it gets when wet. usually I just put it in a pony or bun and ignore it though. hope you find something soon and I think your hair is gorgeous!
