Wedding hair ideas, especially including flowers.

Hi all;

Would anyone mind sharing some wedding hair ideas? I'm especially interested in those that include flowers, and even more interested in more Victorian/Edwardian styles.

I've been browsing through gallery after gallery, thread after thread on the topic, and it seems that it's inspiring more confusion than ideas at this point. None of them are really catered to having long hair, either, which means they would look quite different, in reality, with my own hair (and of course, this is my opportunity to show my hair off, not cut it, or hide it in an updo).

I would really love to wear my hair down in ringlets, with some vanilla-colored orchids or some variety of petals pinned along the length, but I need something of interest to do with the top half...it will be all "up in my joint" otherwise. I'd probably have hair-stuck-in-lipgloss syndrome, too.

My wedding gown will be either:
1) Ivory with a champagne-gold overlay, a Victorian-corsetted bodice, and a thin lace triple-layered, more a-line skirt. Very Edwardian, with a hint of an Indian/Middle-Eastern edge with the overlay.
2) A more modern white cap-sleeve gown with a partially red-satin bodice and a positively regal red-satin train down the back.

Oh, and I can't decide between veil lengths, whether I want a tiara, etc.

Any ideas would be truly appreciated.

I don't care for most weddin-y updos so I'm glad your wearing it down. Please post your dress when you choose! When is the big day?

I linked to weddinghair.com (http://www.weddinghair.com/html04/longhair.html) on another thread... Nothing there with really long hair, but you might get some ideas.

Among the long hair styles, there's a nice-looking loose one, 4th from the bottom. The knotting makes me a little nervous, but I've never had problems with celtic knot buns....

I always found veils to be a bit tricky myself, but I lean toward having a veil that significantly covers your hair length by at least a few inches, or else lets a significant length hang out below it.

As far as gowns go, chose the one that works better with your skin tone. People usually look good in either ivory, or that blue-white that wedding cowns tend to be, but not both. I got married in a champagne tone, myself. The pure white made me look dead.

I think I might just be sold on a small tiara now...

The bit about veil length helps quite a bit, Anje. I'm thinking APL or BSL might be good? My hair will nearly be hip-length by then, hopefully, with a deep-V taper.

See what you can find with veils, because they vary a lot.

There's no rule that says you need to wear a veil, especially in these modern times. If you'd rather, you could simply skip the veil and show off all your hair.

I didn't want a veil, and my mom really wanted me to have one, so we compromised. We took a few lengths of about 6" wide tulle and some ribbons and had them going down my back from a half-up. Hard to describe, but it looked nice and wedding-ish, but didn't cover all my hair.

I think the ivory with the champagne overlay would look good on you. How do you feel about flowers with tinges of purple in them? I'ts hard to say for sure what will work from seeing only the backside of you. ;) so these are just some thoughts.
