OK, I swear I once saw how to post an image into a post...Now I don't. How do I do this?

I want to include an image that I have on my computer, so it's not a link to an image to click and follow that I'm trying to figure out.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

[*img]url of image[/*img]

... except without the asterisks!

Also, here is the whole page on how to do bbcode:

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/misc.php?do=bbcode

(This is in the "posting rules" box at the bottom of the page when you make a new post.)

I don't have a URL. I have a file on my computer. How do I attach it and have it load in and show? OR do I have to go load this image somewhere out on some URL locale, and then IMG it in per above?

I thought I could just load/attach an image for it to show within the text directly from my computer.

I'm probably showing my ignorance here! LOL

Heidi, you need to host your picture somewhere like http://imageshack.us/ or http://photobucket.com/ - follow the instructions to browse, choose your pic and upload, then put the resulting link between img tags as skitts explained.

I think you need to upload your photos to a remote server like photobucket or flickr. Then link the photo to your post.

i simply have a file name, hair seminar 047, and I can't figure out how to get from the text of a new post and bring the image in....I thought I could do that. I thought I could use BROWSE or something.... hmmm?

I see the box above in the rows showing the ability to link an URL for an image...BUT....I don't see a way to attach a file that's sitting on my C drive under MY PICTURES.

When I open this picture on my computer, it's in MS PIctures, so there is no URL.

Heidi, I don't think you can attach a file to a post.

You can upload it to your album and then use that image's URL on the boards. However, you have to either upload it there or to an image hosting site and then use your URL in your post, it will not work anywhere else.

Ahh!

So, then I need to post my photo to some place out on the net and then get a URL.

Any suggestions of good providers of places that hold photos for this type of thing?

I used to use tiny...something, but the pictures then came out smaller than thumbnail, which isn't the idea. Can't see a thing.

Heidi, you need to upload the photo either to one of your LHC albums, or an offsite photo-hosting site (i.e. photobucket or flickr). Browsers can't display photos from your harddrive, they have to be stored online somewhere.

hmmm, upload to my album? Haven't done that yet either.

I just like posting responses mostly, not a lot of images.

OK image hosting website suggestions?

I use photobucket (http://photobucket.com/). You can edit pictures on their site. Also you can make clickable thumbnail pictures pretty easily. You know, those small pictures you can enlarge when you click the pic.

As far as I know, you can upload a pic to an album directly from your computer. To do so, create an album, open it, and on the top left corner there is a text reading 'add picture'. Click on it, then you can search the folders on your computer for the pic you want. Click on 'upload', and that´s that.

For adding pics to threads, you have to use a remote server, like others have said.

ETA: Ehm, others were far quicker in responding. :flower:

You can host from your lhc album as well. Just copy image location after right-clicking on an image and put it between image tags.

This photo is from my LHC album:

I use Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com/), but if you are only going to be uploading hair photos, it will probably be easier to just use your LHC album.

I love imageshack! I right click on my photos then save picture as. Once I'm in imageshack, I browse and my photos come up and I pic which one, open it, host it and it uploads, copy paste, post. :)

Good Luck!

flickr has image hosting. To put a photo on your album from your computer is a snap. Just create an album as LHC directs and click upload on the image name when it says browse. :)
