I had a bad experience the last trip to the salon. So, that will be my last trip! :p

I've decided to buy a good pair of Shears and let my DH trim my hair. I'm going to buy them at Sallys. Any suggestions on what to look for when I buy them?

I'm a stylist....make sure you get good shears, but you'll be paying a bit for them. Arius Eickert (sp?) are decent as well as Fromm and a few of the other brands they carry in the locked cases. Those are the ones I'd look into first. I've used both Arius Eickert and Fromm in the past in my salon work and they're pretty good, and if you're using them just on you they'll last a LONG time. If they come with a case, keep them in the case and up so they won't be dropped....once they're dropped they're damaged and shouldn't be used anymore unless the blades are CAREFULLY inspected for dents, nicks and misshaping. HTH!

That one would work. 5" is a good size, not to huge, not too small. They're on the small end, though for me, the smaller the better. I tend to buy 5" shears only. 5 1/2" at most.

These are my shears and they are PHENOMENAL for the price. I cut the whole family's hair with them and they are worth several times what I paid. They arrived here in like two days, too. LOVE Japanese shears, and these were so affordable it was ridiculous!

I just bought a pair of swivel thumb shears from another ebayer for work that I LOVE that were even cheaper than theirs but theirs are very affordable too. My last two pairs I bought for work were centrix shears....$200 a piece and no swivel thumbs, though they were offset a little bit. To buy swivel thumbs out at the stores where I have gotten shears in the past I'd pay at LEAST $250! But at this other ebayer they were $78 plus a free gift and free shipping. But the $119 for that ebayer you got yours from are STILL Very good priced. I'll have to get a pair of black ones too.....
