I got my raw Shea, mango, and cocoa butter yesterday but the cocoa butter is a hard lump with not moisture to it. Is this normal? How do I soften this up for hair use? The Shea and mango butter are soft and pliable like coconut oil.

Cocoa butter is a pretty hard, brittle butter. But it will still melt with heat. You can either break or scrape off a little bit and rub in you hands until it melts, or heat it up and mix with some liquid oils that your hair likes. When that cools off, it will have a softer texture.

Lora, I have melted my hard cocoa butter in the microwave. It will harden up again once it sets, but just not as rock hard to begin with. I guess the heat breaks down the molecules(?) and, in turn, the butter it just a tad bit softer.
HTH!

BTW, I just love the chocolately scent of cocoa butter - yum!
