When you ladies put your hair up, do you do this wet or dry?

I put my hair up dry, or lightly misted. I know lots of people here do damp bunning, but my hair would never dry if it was too moist when I put it up. My DH says I'd start growing a mushroom farm under there!

It depends!

Best for the hair is dry, as hair stretches out when wet, or so I have heard ;)

However when I braid I do dampen up the hair a bit by misting a bit, it makes it easier to handle the strands.

After applying the updo I DO mist heavily, almost as if I was applying hair spray, but I do it more to re-nourish the hair a bit after all that handling.

Wet on washing days, dry on non-washing days.

same as Sarahmoon. I don't always wait for it to dry on wash days. I usually wash when I get in at 4.30 then go out to see Neighbours a bit after five, as we don't get channel five in our hall so we go to a nearby one with Sky. We're not obsessed, really! It's usually windy when we go out so I want my hair up, and then I have dinner at 6 and don't want my hair getting in my food, so I have it up for that.

I put my hair up dry. I sometimes damp braid for braidwaves. If I bun it wet, then it seems to take weeks to dry.

And there are men on here too.

I put mine up wet or dry. Wet hair holds better, but it's easier to make it to tight.

I put it up dry. If I bun it damp/wet it'll never dry. Sometimes I braid damp hair, though. It is usually dry the next day if it wasn't too damp before the braiding.

Ok, Thanks. My hair is not long enough for an updo. When it is, I'll be asking alot more questions. ;)

Sorry if I left the men out. Please feel free to answer. :)

bit wetter than damp for me for a pony and wet for a braid!

I put mine up dry or misted. Never wet! :O Disasters happen to my hair in wet updos, resulting in extreme kinks, poofiness and fuzz. Yuck. I can pony-tail when wet with good results but anything else ruins my waves and curls and makes my hair twist in strange and wrong directions.

I put my hair up loosely when it is wet sometimes on wash day. All the other times it goes up, it is dry. ;)

I put mine up damp, with a blob of leave in conditioner, so when i take it down i have a mass of waves and curls.

My hair is rarely down in general due to the very grabby hands of my baby. She not just grabs, but then rotates her arm and opens/closes her fingers while winding on the hair- gah tangles!

So I do put my hair up wet, damp, or dry. I try not to put it up sopping wet- I will try to let it hang out for 30 minutes or so if possible. When I do put it up wet or damp, I do so very loosely and gently. I will take the wet/damp hair down once in a while when I have a chance, and fluff then finger-comb to get some air circulation in there before putting it up again. My hair takes ages to dry like this, it might still be a tad damp the morning after washing.
