I've always liked longer hair on men. Even if it's a little greasy and scraggly looking I still always look twice :)

My boyfriend has had long hair ever since we started dating... over a year ago. it remains a little past shoulder length... but honestly im just sick of it. However he says he'll never cut it... i liked it better when it was above the shoulders- but past the chin. He won't go back to it though...

I have been wondering what do girls think of guys with really long hair? Ive been wanting to grow it to my waist and I currently have it at collar length. Ive already had numerous girls asking to braid it and put it in pigtails and put ponytails in it once its long and straigthen it and everything. I was just wondering how many of u girls like guys with long hair and do u style it for them like that too?

I like long hair. I wouldn't mind braiding your hair for you, but I certainly would never suggest straightening it! Ugh shudder: what a horrible thing to do to nice hair.

(^_^)/

PS: There is something else I wouldn't mind doing to a guy with long hair, but this is a PG list.

YES. Yes, yes, OH yes... and then some.

If a guy is attractive at all, in any way, even a little bit-- his having long hair will make me melt from a mile away. Melt, I say. Allllll over. I have no words to express how incredibly sexy I find it. No words, just strange, animalistic sounds. My mind just goes blank for an instant and then spontaneously combusts.

Ha! That's about what happens to me too!

Oh, and do you need a mop and bucket to clean up your drool?

If I was Japanese, I might start making nosebleed jokes.

(^_^)/

(For those who don't watch anime, in some anime, when a guy looks at a beautiful girl, his nose starts bleeding.)

It looks good on Bill Bailey!

Thread merger. This one was around before the other one.

Also, the other thread dealing with men is more about what men think of growign hair, not about whether long haired men make women weak in the knees, or want to chase us with garden shears.:D Or other men, whatever.

Not sure if this is interesting to anyone else but I had thought:

Women have to cut their hair to be edgy and Men have to grow it out. It's just weird how our opposite styles are the norm, and when we trade them we're edgy.

Anyways......I love long hair on men or women.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this already, but I loved Orlando Bloom in the Lord of the Rings movies! And get this - I really didn't like the movies nor do I particulary like this actor, but I found myself drawn to his long hair. Weird.

Eh, I think it all comes down to the individual. Some guys can carry it off, some not so much. And personal taste, of course, since some people just don't like the look and some people do.

For instance -- speaking of Orlando Bloom I didn't really care for his hair in LOTR (http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/2794/2003thelordoftheringsthj.jpg). To me, it looked very thin and like it needed a trim (I know, I'm sorry), maybe because it was such a light blond color and the ends didn't look even (which, of course, made sense for the character, but I'm just talking general aesthetics). I don't care for the look of very long thin hair with "fairytale ends" most of the time on anyone but that's just my preference. On the other hand, I loved how his hair looked (http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/5193/pirates13.jpg) in Pirates. It was dark and wavy. I've recently realized that I am a big fan of dark wavy hair so this probably has something to do with it. (My epiphany came when I finally looked through all the photos of my "dream hairstyle" that I'd saved from the Internet and almost all of them were long dark wavy styles.)

I do think it's cool to see long hair guys, since I don't really see any guys with hair longer than the occasional shaggy-shoulder length. Maybe I just need new friends. Also, I'd like to mention two longish-hair guys on Must Share Hair. This first one (http://mustsharehair.tumblr.com/post/161478417/mikey-p-has-hair-like-a-girl-in-this-photo-it-is) makes me jealous - it's so pretty! This second one (http://mustsharehair.tumblr.com/post/153021499/weve-received-a-lot-of-pictures-of-curly-headed) makes me laugh. :D

The thin ends of Orlando's wig in LOTR is also my pet peeve, you would expect the elves, who are perfect acording to Tolkien, to have thicker hair and healthier ends wouldn't you :D? Oh and I wouldn't mind if it would be longer.
But I still like it. Aragorns hair pissed me off: all straggly choppy and dirty. Needs to be washed (and be longer LOL)

well yes!!! And I have recently noticed, that guys with long hair, are more likely to have really, healthy shiny BEAUTIFUL hair than wome! Why is that? I think that some women with long hair, dye it o iron it too often! (without propper care) wich makes their hair opaque and lifeless, contrary to long haired guys, wich keep their hair natural

I've noticed this, and I do think it's because a lot of long-haired women dye, blow-dry, flat-iron, etc., so it dries out. Furthermore, a lot of women feel a compulsion to wash their hair daily, whether or not it needs it, whilst men (in my experience, of course) are more likely to wait until their hair actually needs washed to wash it.

That said, I have seen some beautiful heads of hair on women IRL, too, so there are women who take care of their hair outside of LHC.

DFB has hair between MBL and waist but heavily fairytaled. There was another guy in school, looked extremely plain with short hair. Now that it's APL(very blunt hemline, would be longer than waist if not for OTD-obsessive trimming disorder) half the girls were swooning over him. Poor guy had no idea! Now he's graduated. No more eyecandy:(
I have a theory:
-If a guy has a cute face, it'll look better with long hair.
-If he has an ugly face....well, you can always cover it up with hair, right? ^.^

My spouse's long hair was definitely an attractant when we met (you know when he was 20 and I was 16 and there was no chance in heck I was going to get a chance to be in a relationship with him/ Ah, the carefree angst-ridden days of youth). He had it nearly waist length, I think.
Once he cut it to shoulder for LOL or a similar organization without telling us, his friends. As he walked into the hall of our favorite hangout place, I screamed. I admit it was a little dramatic, but I couldn't help it.
I've learned my lesson, I'm eight years older and seven years in sweet wonderful love. Hair grows. He's still beautiful and his hair is getting longer everyday.
I love boys with long hair.

"Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder"

it's all a matter of perspective, opinions, taste, and views.

For every person that compliments long hair on males for its professional (or whatever) look, there will be someone else saying that it is childish for men to have long hair.

It all depends person to person and their view of/on it.

Another one that has always preferred men with long hair. Also, I was in high school in the late 80's (graduation 1990), so there were more than plenty of long-hairs to go around.

Then at some point in the very early 90's, it was mostly GONE! I looked around and saw mostly guys with short, spiky hair, and I have to admit, I'm a bit of a snob and hate it!

But I'm kind of an all-around long hair snob; I prefer it on most men and women. I have only seen a handful of either gender that I thought looked better with short hair (Julie Andrews). Oddly enough, I have actually put Fabian in this category, although he is supposed to be every lady's dream hunk with the long flowing locks. Something about him just looks way too fake with the hair. Really odd, considering how much I drool over most guys with long hair and often don't even notice the short-haired guys.

Ah, DH- wait, this does mean something akin to Dear Husband, right? I've seen DH, DBF, and DS referring to husbands, boyfriends and sons respectively, but nobody seems to mention what the 'D' stands for!

-anyway, DH has the most beautiful long hair. It's about APL, brown, and so thick and wavy. It flips and half-curls in all the right places, it's kind of like Viggo Mortenson's 'Aragorn' hair but thicker (or do I mean washed ;)). I've been trying to talk him into CO washing for ages now, it's getting a little dry at the ends and it makes me WEEP.
The most annoying thing is though, he just grows it long for like a year and then he gets fed up with it and shaves it off! Right to the scalp! Why doesn't my hair grow that... that... NONCHALANTLY?! Grrr!

Generally I have understood it to stand for "dear"

My eigt year old son has classic length hair and over the last few months, as his features have become more distinctly male, I have noticed a big change in how people respond to him.

Before, folks were confused that he was a boy. Did not compute.

Now, however, women especially seek him out to tell him how cool and beautiful his hair is and how much his girlfriends are going to love it in a few years. And men also seem a lot more accepting and even admiring.

I thought I wasn't biased about it, but my 'eyecatchers' are usually longhaired, and looking in retrospect, ALL of my boyfriends had at least 6 inches of hair when I met them, and basically all have surpassed SL by now. One did cut(alopecia), but I didn't like him much so it doesn't count:p

Almost zero.

(Not quite zero, because I have been experimenting with a diluted protein heavy conditioner leave in on my length for a few weeks now. About a pea sized glob from the shoulders down in dripping wet hair.)

We use primarily apple cider vinegar and the occasional baking soda.

some like it, some really dislike it.

same for body hair some like it, others say they dislike it.

gets confusing as a guy

in real life I've probably found more who dislike beards and/or long hair than being clean shaven/cut

True, but I know very few women who would say plain NO to well-kept medium-ish long hair. TBL might not be everyone's cup of cake, but sometimes when women (outside of LHC:p) think of longhaired men they might just think about unkempt, 'forgot to cut it/don't care' hair.

what about that yumminess Samuel Larsen on The Glee Project?

Yep, he's a pretty boy alright. ;) I had to look him up, but I agree with you.

Well.........no. Sorry! Personally I don't find men with long hair as attractive as men with short hair or shaved. Don't get me wrong the gentlemen of LHC have such lovely locks, much to be envied. My fiancée has every hair style you can think of: Mohawk, shoulder length, closely cut, shaved. With his appearance shaved is the way to go. Plus I love the way it feels right after he shaves it. Mmmmmm......hummmmmm!!! Vin Diesel has nothing on him. ;)

Well, I'm one of those few women. I just prefer men with short hair. Especially if they have sideburns. I'm not talking Elvis mutton chops here but rather to where they come to bottom of the ear and closely cut.

My 5 year old son sports a flat top with closely cut sideburns and you wouldn't believe how man
y compliments I receive on how handsome his hair cut is. :)

I love long hair and facial hair on guys. I'll admit it, I was one of those weirdos who while watching LOTR crushed on Gandalf a bit. :o :p (But those movies generally are a feast for hair lovers on both genders.)

Hmm well for me it depends on the guy! If I like a guy it doesn't matter whether his hair is long or short (but I don't like mullets :D). Same with beards or no beards, or body hair or no body hair. Now, I prefer NO beards and minimal body hair, but if the man I loved had it, it would be the man who would take precedence over the hair.

Mind you there is one musician I've had a bit of a crush on, and he has nice shoulder length curls BUT I preferred him with short hair!! It's not that his hair isn't lovely, I just prefer his look with shorter hair. Go figure!

In general though, most of the men I've liked have had short hair. But an ex boyfriend had nice SL sort of wurly hair and it was adorable, and after he'd told me he'd shaved it off I was sad :(.

Thanks :D - you're at waist right ? Your braid shows quite a bit of taper, your hair needs some TLC, you came to the right place :p. Beautiful colour, too.
And awful pictures all right :frog: .

Yeah, at waist at the moment, and trying to get further
My hair was actually still wet from my shower when I took those, I should probably take some more that it's dry.

My DH has the prettiest long curly (3b) hair which he wears in a ponytail, mainly because it's too much of a pain in the butt to manage when it's short. He's *sloo-oo-oowly* getting better at taking care of it and detangling it gently. I've finally gotten him to the point where he's considering letting me put it in a sleep braid for him at night so that he'll have less mechanical damage and fewer flyaways annoying him when he goes out in the wind. :D

He's had longer hair than I for pretty much our entire relationship, so we'll see how long it takes me to reverse that now that I've growing mine out again.

Maybe it's because I Was a Teenaged Metalhead (in the 80's, no less!) but I absolutely adore long-haired me. In fact, I love it to the point where if a man with long hair who made me drool cuts it, I suddenly don't find him as hot as he was before.

Shallow? Absolutely, but then again, I'm a shallow and cold-hearted person. This is why I don't date. I just drool over the cuties, and the cutest cuties inevitably have long hair.

LOL, me too!

And that is his giant natural fro. Sadly he shaves it all off come late spring.. but I get a nice long haired man to play with 9 months of the year. I keep trying to get him to not shave it because at the rate it grows it would be Huey-like in two years (kid off The Boondocks) but he doesn't want to. Le sigh.

I love long-ish haired guys. Or atleast- hair that is long for guys. I've never dated anyone with hair longer than their shoulders- but I LOVED when it became fashionable for guys to grow their hair to their chin or shoulder.

I enjoy talking to the guys coming through work- the ones who grow their hair to chin or shoulder REALLY seem to be taking care of it.

Yep, I think I've loved seeing long hair on guys pretty much since I was little. Amusingly enough, I've always swung between either almost at shoulder length or tailbone and longer in terms of what my favorite length was. When I'd see a guy with shoulder length hair, I'd wonder what it would look like longer, and when I'd see really long hair I'd wonder what it would look like at shoulder length. :hmm:

Joining LHC has definitely swung my preferences more toward the really long hair though.

Of course there's some short haired guys who look hot and some long haired guys who don't look so hot but as far as I remember I have always loved long haired guys :crush:
It's such a shame they are so rare where I live...

Yes! I don't know many men who like to have long hair, or maybe they like, but don't have the courage to do it, because I do believe some men are told by others (family, friends...) that they don't look good, and that's so wrong :(
My father is that type of person, he had long hair when he was young, and now he cuts it because of his job. :(

Anyway, I love it. I had a thing for the vocalist of HIM band, Ville Valo. He never had really super long hair, but shoulder. He's handsome in my opinio, and short hair on him would just look, blaah.

I love guys from Lord of the Rings, so bad!! <3

You beat me to it! Personally a fan of Mikael Akerfeldt (http://www.metal-nose.org/e107_images/newspost_images/interview_opeth_003.jpg)'s hair but I think he recently cut his hair some. Or it looked that way on stage, at least.

Long hair on a guy is definitely ultra sexy if it's done right. There's something to be said about the male understanding of "clean" sometimes; but when it's taken care of and done intentionally, it's really nice. My fella is growing his out for a ponytail, and I am super excited about it. I haven't seen a guy with long hair in ages.

Right now I'm sitting across from a long haired (in a ponytail) dude. I walked up to him and teased him. "My hair is longer than yours." He didn't find it overly interesting or funny. He did declare that he used to have his hair down to his thighs at one time. He's kind of an average dude. Not a wackadoo, it seems to me.

Probably he has lots of gals hittin' on him, and has to fend them off a bit. He's a nice looking man, around perhaps 35, give or take.

I dated a long haired guy for like 2 yrs. He was so good looking. Had thick brown hair down the bottom of his back and I loved to pull it softly and play with it and smell his pheromones just at his temples. I also loved to cut a few mm's off his ends every full moon. Haha. Good times...

I've always had a thing for long haired guys it seems. I was really dissapointed when my first boyfriend cut his SL hair into a buzz.
I've been watching Stargate Atlantis lately and there's a character called Ronin, oh those long dreads *swoon*.

I started watching Full Metal Jousting on the History Channel and a couple of the guys have nice longish hair. I think about five of the jousters are former Medieval Times knights. Although be warned, it's a full contact sport and sort of violent. The previews for the next show make it look like both of my favorite dudes have to take a ride in the ambulance. :(
