I am a complete newbie to anything hair-related, and hope that my hair may grow without any further difficulties (details to come). Thanks in advance for having a forum where one may learn such things.

Hi Cipher Highwind. What brings you to LHC? Tell us a little about yourself. :flowers:

I found the board by searching Google while frustrated, basically.

As for myself, I'm 21, in Virginia (a few minutes away from the WV border by automobile), and studying engineering, though also studying Ancient Greek and Chinese. I hope to go into solar cells, but if things do not work out, electrical engineers make decent money anywhere in the world if employed.

BTW, two things: what is hair length and type, and I cannot seem to edit my last post...

Your length is measured from your forehead to the ends of your hair, as described in this article:
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=9

I'm sure there was a thread recently regarding hair type and someone linked to the site for the curl descriptors, I'll see if I can find it.

Thickness is measured by the circumference of your ponytail:
0-2" = i
2-4" = ii
>4" = iii

ETA: Aha! I found it! http://homepage.mac.com/annsofie.henriksson/hairtyping/Personal27.html

And you can't edit until you've reached a certain number of posts
