I used Suave Daily Clarifying for several years when I needed a good clarify, but I was disappointed with its performance. It didn’t seem to get my scalp clean enough. I would start itching and getting gunk under my nails the same day of my wash and never felt like it did a good job. It lathers wonderfully, and it’s very cheap, but it didn’t seem to really get my scalp cleaned of debris and gunk.

I decided to try to find a favorite clarifying shampoo. I put three different shampoos in my Amazon cart for a total of $76, and decided against buying all of them at once. I ended up buying “Ouai” for $32 and used it the first time yesterday. I think my scalp actually likes this one. It doesn’t feel itchy at all! While washing my hair I noticed how nicely it lathered and how clean it rinsed.

What clarifying shampoos have you tried, and which one(s) are your favorite(s)?

Balea Tiefreinigungsshampoo (from DM, german drugstore) is dirt cheap and does the job but it's very drying. Just ok if there's no other choice budget-wise.

Bed Head Down n' Dirty is amazing, very cleansing but not too drying, my favorite for the price.

L'oréal Pro Curl Expression clarifying jelly shampoo is THE BEST. It's insanely luxurious, smells absolutely divine, the product itself is the epitome of cosmetic elegance. It's not drying AT ALL, gets my hair extremely shiny and clean without any frizz or damage. I got the 1,5L bottle during a sale and have no regrets.

I really like the Briogeo Scalp Revival Megastrength + Dandruff Relief. Its a salicylic acid shampoo which is also really good for acne. I alternate my washes with this shampoo and a more gentle shampoo and my seborrheic dermatitis has gotten so much better as a result. However it is pricey. I haven't tried any others because this one is so good for me!

The k18 Clarifying Shampoo is hands down the best shampoo I have ever used, and it had the lowest pH I've ever found for a clarifying shampoo! It works amazing and never leaves my hair feeling dry

On The Rocks by drybar.

After trying numerous clarifying shampoos over the last 5 or so years, I always go back to this one.

I like the one from Ouai. It feels gentle but it gets the job done, and it smells beautiful.
I also use it to clean my hairbrush and makeup brushes.
