How to get a chunky, straight hemline

I know this is a staged photo where the model has had a lot of styling done, but I see hemlines like the one on the left on the street all the time, and I wondered how people managed it? Mine just can't get there. It's less just about the straightness of it but the way it falls, like in chunks and super dense like that. My hair isn't thin, it just doesn't sit that way.

Think this is what is very thick 1a type hair that has been grown for years and maintained at the same length so that the hemline is even and the thickness has had time to travel down. Mine sat wiggly at the ends when I grew it first, but when I cut it back from thigh length to hip length for a short time (and then to collarbone ahhh), my ends also were surprisingly blunt and flat laying like this picture, which I thought wasn't possible for me, but turns out my ends were just a bit thin/not fully grown through and not trimmed enough to lay flat and even.

It's partly genetics, and partly the hair cut. There's a few people I know who have VERY thick hair, and so when a good blunt cut is done on their hair the ends are just naturally thick.

But it's definitely also the cutting technique (because it's possible to layer too much, or use thinning shears to remove bulk and end up with much thinner ends). Do you see, in the photo, how the ends are not perfectly even? The stylist has likely gone in and created those chunks with various point-cutting methods. Additionally, sometimes, people sort of stack the hair, so the very last layer (starting at the nape) is just a bit longer than the next and so on up to the hair that falls from the crown (or vice versa), so the illusion of thickness is created through precise and carefully constructed layering.

I think this might also have to do with the coarseness of the hair, as in medium and coarse strands might fall like that better than fine. Some dancers flip their hair and there's this weight and momentum in the movement.

I don't know if this is true at all, just a guess.

I agree with the above, thick 1a hair can have this look, but it typically takes some work to have a blunt one-length cut at that length. I'm fairly certain the model in the photo has also straightened her hair, although I've definitely seen women with similar looks naturally.

Agreed with the above. My hair will sit somewhat like this when it is freshly cut, but it's been a continuous effort to keep my hemline blunt and takes much longer to grow than if you're okay with fair tale ends.

Yup. Mega-thick very straight hair is the only type that does this naturally.

When my mom cut my waist length to bras strap length, the hemline looked a bit like this, then she had to thin/layer it a bit to make it less chunky and "homemade” lol.

LOL Chunky and straight was the cut I always dreamed of having.... I showed my mom the picture in the first post and she said "But that's a nine-year-old girl's haircut!"

I'm wondering if there are any hair care products or hair technology that can support this. Because this is a hairstyle that many people like. There's no way, maybe a wig?
