Does wet brushing support curls?

I mean brushing hair when it's still damp after washing, or brushing it through when you have applied conditioner, instead of waiting until the hair is dry. I have heard something like this but didn't find a thread dedicated to this subject...

If you brush dry curls, they will poof up and lose their definition. So it's not so much that it "supports" them, it's just the necessary way of doing things if you want to keep the curls neatly packed.
