I don't CO, but I started using Nature's Gate Organics volumizing conditioner and it's really improved the overall health and feeling of my hair. It's lemongrass & clary sage scented and smells really fresh! Maybe you could try that :)

I like Dessert Essence tea tree oil conditioner. It takes care of scalp itchies and spreads easily. I also really like Trader Joes Refresh. It has lots of citrus in it, so it's very clarifying. Both are reasonably priced and cone free. Good luck finding something that works for you!

My sister swears by Nature's Gate Herbal conditioner. Her hair is very thick and curly, and she absolutely loves it.

I've been using a catnip infusion as conditioner in recent months, and really like the results.

Catnip is my holy grail. I have 2 slogans I repeat to myself now. "Catnip forever" and "Don't mess with catnip!" (as in adulterate it with anything), lol.

It has so many uses for me; hair colour/conditioner, skin moisturizer, scalp relief, hair growth enhancer, hand lotion, just used straight, no additives.

I should clarify that I use catnip following shampoo, not as a CO. Sorry if I was not clear.

It's not strictly herbs or anything, but I've been having good luck with Giovanni. I've used Tea Tree Triple Treat, 50:50, and Smooth as Silk. My hair's been pretty happy with it. :)
